Ah, I found the problem. If your profile is set to private the game won't collect friends from your list, so you won't be able to progress without cash.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I'm a little disappointed that friends are required to progress through the game. (The brambles, more specifically.) The friend system doesn't seem to function correctly, or I'm doing something wrong which wouldn't be surprising. Great game otherwise, I just wish friends weren't required.

im disappointed. i thought this game had potential but i keep getting stuck whenever i open my inventory npc ect becuase i cant find the close button!

So now I'm in the forest detour and I can't go on because I don't have any friends who play this game. Sure, I could buy me some friends, but there should be a warning saying "Don't spend your bucks now, you'll need them to actually advance later on". Disappointing.

Good game, apart from the fact that, number one: Energy takes FAR too long to regenerate, number two: Slashes from your friends take 5 days to reload, number three: I don't know if this is a fault or whatever but everytime I have used a power slash I have gotten nothing or gold, which is pretty much useless too.

Energy system to be really improved, no way to rate this game more than 2 (Graphics and concept) if I cannot play more than 5 mins per day
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
So The energy system needs to be updated. I shouldn't have to wait a full day to play a game. If I can't play for more than 15 minutes at a time... The game isn't worth the time playing.
Please update, I really liked the first hour of continual leveling (ergo energy)
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
You have to wait really long to get energy back. For me: 6 hours to fully recharge energy=300ish energy= 5 mins of playing happily. That is jank.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Guys, it's already been said that the game has an energy system. Stop making and upvoting the same comment complaining about it; that's just childish.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I can't say it better than it's already been said. Force people to wait to play so that they spend real money? Shameful business model.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
ya know? I was ALMOST interested in this game before I realized that you needed to pay in order to play for more than ten minutes at a time. And here I thought Kongregate was a FREE gaming website.

@goodjosh, so APPARENTLY you LOVE idling just to try to get past a single level. If you're like that go play some Anti-Idle, you'll love it there.

Would be so much better if the energy system wasn't like it is. It makes you fed up with the game and causes you to leave in frustration and forget about it.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
so I came on this game today (as I have been for about 3 days) and today I was giving alot more fruit than usual, and since fruit means energy either someone is listening or I'm just lucky.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Loads game, notices it's an energy regeneration game, rates 1/5, leaves without playing a single minute of the game. Take a hint, kongregate.

@killersbaby - I easily spend several hours per day on this game. Total kreds spent = 0. You can progress faster or get custom items for real cash. I hope the developers do make a profit, bercause they have made a wonderful game that deserves support. If I had the means, I would definitely contribute myself.

pretty sure the fish bait odds are horribly done. with a set 10 'energy' bait i got 1 fish 3 gold and 6 junk. with the gold set i got 1 fish 4 gold and 5 junk....
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
In my opinion this game is made for profit. And I hate games like this. No chance to get enough energy to play longer than 5-10 minutes than buy it. If I play a game, I want to have a chance to play as long as I want to. Games with energy are made for profit and not for fun.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
You know what, this is a great game. Its reall fun and I want to enjoy it. I DONT WANT TO WAIT 3 HOURS TO CHOP DOWN 5 BUSHES. WHY DO WE NEED TO WAIT SO LONG? WHY DO YOU HAVE TO LIMIT OUR PLAYTIME WITH THIS RIDICULOUS CRAP? JUST MAKE A GAME! I DONT WANT TO SPEND MONEY TO PLAY THIS!

Okay thing you really need to add, When a text screen pops up and you cant pick anything up until you close it. i lost a bunch of stuff cause you cant close the screens fast enough.

The problem, michan, is that the game IS boring. It uses no talent whatsoever to play, and the energy system only makes you wait to play. It's the same dirty tactics farmville and equivalents use in order to make people want to play (the whole 'want what you can't have' principle) and you end up sinking in actual money in the game to play, despite the minimal effort that went into it. The concept was a nice joking reference to the NES years, but that doesn't count for much.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
The thing is, I don't like the energy limitation either, but I feel like if it wasn't there, people would be complaining about how boring it is to repeatedly whack bushes for ages on end. At least with the energy there, we have to come back again to play, though I wish the regen was a bit faster.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
There should at least be a package we can buy to speed up the energy regeneration. There's little to no point buying an energy pack which you'll deplete in 2 minutes.
