You unlock ships at a certain amount of kills, you get your first unlockable ship at 25 kills then 51 kills and it doubles every time until you reach your final ship at 12,801 kills.

In response to the people who down-rated my previous comment: in space, they're called meteoroids. They're not called meteorites until after they impact a planet. I just noticed that the game also spells "maneuverability" wrong.
Cool game though.
You mine stuff by selecting the mining laser and hitting Z when near a "meteorite."

sirmason, there are many more planets in the Galaxy, not only the one you found. They do nothing. There are 32 planets and finding them (just for a challenge) is just one more of the many things you can do in the game. After you get 6401 kills, your galaxy map is upgraded, showing all black holes, white holes, wormholes and planets in the Galaxy.

I used to love this game. I lost it, though, and this is the first time I've been able to play it in over a year.It's too bad the multiplayer part is gone, though.

Dark Orbit is NOTHING like this game. The developer isn't the same. Did you even play this game during its glory days? Dark Orbit wants your money so you can "convineintly upgrade" your things to super strong and kill everyone....until a noob outpilots you...

Starfighter: Disputed Galaxy 3 is coming! This one actually was the second one, the "2" was taken out. Just like Tron, and Tron: Legacy. The first SF was just called Starfighter, with 30 different levels. But SF:DG3 is coming! Ben has put some footage up on youtube and his website. Thumbs up so everyone can see!

I have been playing this game since the multiplayer wasn't hacked. Then a bunch of 6 year olds and 24 year olds living with there parents had to ruin it. now there isn't multiplayer. The game is great, 5/5 just, there really needs to be some form of multiplayer with some kind of protection from hackers.

I really wish these hackers buzzed off, there are plenty of games that actually have worth hacking, no offense. If only there was some type of anti-hack shield, everything would go 20x smoother, and DJStatika can actually focus on his games, not the hackers. I wish I could help, really, but I don't know how I could. Give the people some power!

@HaloReach lol. I'm nearly able to unlock the Warship. I was using Atlas Mining Vessel for the 400 health, but its waaay too slow. It's funny. I'm using the Minotaur, with 250 less health and I'm getting a whole lot more kills.

I have to say, without the multiplayer part of this game it's just so dull and... idk, inferior to Void, which is just an underplayed single player space game on Kong as well. Don't get me wrong, I've played this game when it HAD multiplayer, and it was awesome. But without it, its just so slow, and the mechanics/weapons aren't nearly as fun to use compared to Void, which was a lot easier to grind kills. The fact that Void has a BETTER autopilot system makes this game even more obsolete. I'm just really disappointed with this old game now. Hope the next installment fixes multiplayer, still deserves the 5/5 + fav I gave it 2 years ago.

I hate ai ships stealing my kills. You should get bounty for assists and you get more from it depending on how much damage you cause to it. Same for getting kills

@Superdude037 This game isn't a ripoff of anything, it's based off of the Starfighter series of flash games, and I think there aren't many gameplay similarities. Mining in space games is not new, and some games before EVE had mining in them, like Freelancer (which came out March 2003, EVE came out in May 2003), so you can't really call it a ripoff if it's just a multiplayer version of another, (Semi in concept) original game.

It's very sad that this game was hacked and multiplayer was removed. I wish I could have seen it. The truth is that we really aren't going to get back multiplayer. Hope that Ben's new game will be more secure and have multiplayer.

There is a black hole in sector S-9-10.It is huge.If you go there,make sure you have engine overdrive,or it will eat you.

I hear that the MP on this game is gone, but even so, just starting out i think this game is far better than much of the other mmorpg or rpg games ive ever played, it is a very creative idea and very interactive RPG, Well done on the game. 5/5

Since multiplayer is gone, it would be cool to be able to eventually go and attack/capture enemy bases. EVentually win, you know? Rate + if you agree.
