Try to delete depots in your back line, because they are an unnecessary drain on resources. Just make sure you dont delete a depot supporting your defenses!

It's really sad this great game has no badges, perhaps it's not easy to say what they should be for. I'd suggest an easy badge for finishing the campaign and a hard badge for completing Spaghetti.

Survivors: We have a minigun, 6 shotguns, 9 pistols, 3 AK-47's, and a SMG PP-Bizon. Also we have 30 snipers. Should we use them all? Leader: No, only use snipers. They'll be twice as unefficient. Survivors: But we have tons of other ammo! Leader: Snipers ONLY!!!!!!

"Oh no, we've been told to retreat because zombies are coming out of a house and right for us. We better try to run into the houses (with the zombies)."

All the most interesting and challenging custom maps are dead because of the loss of flash. Is it possible for you to update your game so that it works with Supernova? Those maps made this a regular thing for me to come back to.

you know how your a special operation gone bad? well, for a sequel it would be cool if you got a unique survivor type "soldier" that had added effeciency at shooting, and if support was made available

I'd love to have a sequel which includes stuff like traps and better ways to move your resources around. Still a great game nonetheless

I believe this is one of the few games I've ever returned to play after so many years.
There are many great aspects to point out, but I'd just like to give some praise to the writing. Sure, you only have a couple snippets of writing, one at the beginning and one at the end, but they (especially the later) are... just powerful, very powerful writing.
It's been years and I still get goosebumps when I read the ending.

oh, i was wrong... they do go back, it just takes a little bit over 60 seconds... then again, i was playing on a custom map that has over 25000 zombies and a few hundred were running around, maybe it was laggy...

I also love the replay button. It reminds me of what they had in Civilization. But I would definitely like more statistics: how many people you saved, how many people you lost, etc.. so you can better evaluate how well you did. (Currently just see how many bridges and zombies left).

A statistics page on the final screen (once the game is won or lost) would be nice. Zombie killed, humans kills, buildings destroyed, structures destroyed, time, etc.

Wait wait wait. How has this game STILL not gotten badges?!?!!? This game is freaking amazing! I played it about a year and a half ago... and coming back to play it again now... and STILL no badges!! Come on Kongregate!
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I've been playin' on Kongregate for quite some time now, around 2 years I'd say. I have never felt the need to register until now. I wanted to register just to thank you for the amazing game you've created. I hope you work with it and either make a sequel or develop this one further. A few small issues have been mentioned, and I agree with some, but all-in-all, an awesome game. 5/5
Thank you!

I totally wish there was a Shattered Colony II. This game deserves a lot more attention and respect. I have played hundreds of user submissions, again and again. Thanks for creating such a beautiful game.

Anybody notice this glitch where people will stay in a building and not move, regardless if they're needed other places? And I have tried changing the people in there to 0 to see if they'll move and they still don't, as well as fleeing it, where they just run to another depot.

sniper: "we're out of ammo!"
survivor leader: "go look in that car, every body carries ammo in their car...do you not?"

Great Ruffle integration... It worked fine with SuperNova (on a separate window), now it doesn't with Ruffle on the website...

Since nobody has come across them as far as I can tell, I thought I'd post hints for the random easter egg levels:
Some city names cause special maps which change the rules a bit.
##
Map names must contain a certain name to be special. For instance, if 'New York' was a special map, then 'New York City' would also be the same kind of special map.
##
The author's home town map is a perfect grid, just like in the real world.
##
In the city from "28 Days Later", the zombies run.
##
There is a mall city inspired by "Dawn of the Dead".
##
A medical reference from "Night of the Living Dead" creates an extra challenge.
##
Umbrella Corporation's home town is cut off from the mainland but has lots of special buildings.
##
If you visit the city from "Land of the Dead", survive as long as you can because the zombies can cross the water...
##
In the city where Thriller was shot, the zombies can dance.

@DALES1 - When you go to "New Game" there's an option there "Paste Map". Paste the contents from that google site into there, and you'll get spaghetti--- this map from hell, lol. Thanks for sharing that URL, btw. I didn't know the maps were still accessible.

I've probably played this game more than I've slept since it was released and I'm JUST now realizing that the character with a shotgun (loading screen) was never in the game.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I was thinking, if you cut off all the bridges to your city, how are you going to have power and get food? Just a thought. Maybe the short term threat of the zombies is way more important.

sniper tower destroyed, instead of running back to help the next tower the guy runs past the zombie in a game of follow the leader all around the map attracting every zombie in sight. until he returns to the colony with a horde of zombie 3 times worse than the usual hordes. to you sir I say thanks for scouting and $%&# you.
still good game 4/5

Some observations:
- Keep your logistical lines meshed. Build enough depots (they only cost you a nug) to resupply key defenses from multiple points. This mitigates some of the wandering nugs as well.
- In Berlin, resist the temptation to go after the wide bridge first. The wide bridge means that the zombies are spread out and you can have more wall segments to absorb them... and more sniper towers to take them out.
- The point of greatest danger (after the early game when you're gaining a foothold) is the end game. The hordes are concentrated. The snipers just don't have a high enough rate of fire to take them out, so try to attrit them with a yielding defense.
- If you're overrun, consider abandoning your next line of defense to give them a chance to spread out. Never weaken defenses in territory that you control; it's nearly impossible to win a pitched battle against a concentrated horde.
Happy butchering!

this game is on my top 10 list of flash games. A+++ hope there is a part 2 of it. and also it would be nice if there was a fast forward button.

Pathing needs work. I hit the Flee button and all it does is destroy the building while all the humans stand there with their thumbs up their ass til the zombies eat em.

For all people looking for a challenge...try map named "Nanasisan". I have no idea why it is ranked 17 on the hardest map scale. It should be in the top 3 hardest maps. Try it if you dare.
