zachbrew, You don't seem to get it. Yes, doing what you are saying will make the gem better, for a while. However, it gets you a worse gem for the money than simply upgrading. Using the same amount of mana, I combined a grade 6 with 62 grade 5's, and compared that to a grade 11 (yes, that is the same amount of mana). Grade 6 stats: 356-1311, 6.8 fire rate, 5.11 crit; Grade 11 stats: 1206-4114, 14.7 fire rate, 7.31 crit. Simply upgrading results in a gem that is nearly 10 times better than your method.

@meepluvsu yes it is possible to beat d10. use walls to block all ways so they have to come from the top past one of the entrances the monsters come in. you could also try using a combo of slow,shock and mana gain so you dont have to unlock any gems types. use walls to make them go past your towers charging the pylon and taking the longest route to your orb. if you dont like the idea of triple gems because they the most expensive to upgrade then try shock and mana gain. posion isnt realy worth using. however ill leave it to you and i hope this helps.

To anyone still playing in 2021 the game is no longer playable, you need supernova player but in supernova it says you can only play on kongregate.com and then again kongregate says you need supernova so have fun if you paid for the premium.

"Remind me of the babe" badge should be impossible (not for difficulty, but for endurance). But had to do it anyway for it the Bowie reference... 5*

Some journey amulets are earned by constantly playing fields M7 and M4. M7 was done many times for buildings, killing tons of monsters, spending loads of mana. M4 was only for raiding tombs without failing a level even to help squeeze extra xp. L3 is where you can spend 100,000 mana to earn a journey amulet, just try it with extra waves and double monsters that can ensure the round won’t end too soon before you’re able to get it. It’s easy to grind extra XP with multipliers set to double monsters, armored only, 15 bonus waves, and banishment heal + cost extra increase. Up to the mid top area of the fields, use the same settings while toning down the monster amount. (2/3)

Actually, red is not the best gem... only in early levels. When you can afford it, a Yellow-Orange-Lime gem will easily be the best. Red gems do not scale their damage as quickly as the hp climbs in more difficult waves.

Unplayable as of flash being nuked, it loads with Supernova and then tells you the game can only be played on Kongregate.com

I think this is the best TD game out there. I recommend the premium, it's only 5USD or £3.50 which is not much, considering a game costs from £5-50. Also, hint to the newer players - Blood gems are good early on, but if you go to around wave 150+ they do not output enough damage. Mathematically, if the gem has 10000 kills and a 100% kills-damage ratio, it only gets 10000 damage, whereas the multiple damage(yellow) gem gets around 100x damage, if the base is 10000, it does much more.

What riles me a bit is that Endurance is a premium-only mode. I have no objections against the other settings and skills being premium, but Endurance is such an important aspect of the game that it greatly increases the difficulty if you cannot use Endurance to obtain more xp, so that you can take on later levels... Still, good game, and I like this installment of the Gemcraft series.

The only thing I am cringing about is the "endurance" and "giants only" lock.
Endurence, Sandbox, however you call it mode is a big part in almost every Tower Defense Game and "Giants only" is kickass and has been craved by TD players for years but is still found rarely.
I never complain about Premium stuff and understand that this game needed it (I even suggested it about 2 years ago because of the sheer lenght and replayability of the originaln Gemcraft) but it's sad to see that they cut through flesh.
But yea, I'll pay, it's gemcraft after all. I had over 100 hours fun for free what do I have to give you? Five bucks?
Well, at least the price is hillariously low :)

I think we should earn a small portion of the experience when we fail a level, say 10 or 25%. After all, we're defeated, not dead. We're still in the labyrinth even, so, clearly we're OK. Surely we learned something from that experience...

Ah, you guys don't have to switch to their website. If you're using Chrome, go to where it says plugin blocked and choose run all plugins. It takes a couple of seconds (a reload might be necessary sometimes) but it'll start showing the premium version again.

if your having trouble with a map because of armored or giant monsters, figure out a way to work in a bloodbound gem, it makes all the difference in the world

It's just such a pity Greg didn't listen to the previous gemcraft chapter 0 comments. 'Beating the final stage should be an impossible badge',they said. This is completely true because it takes days if you are a no-life and weeks if you are not. There's just so much ppl that got it because the game was so awesome. ;) But that one was 78 battles. And here we are, a new version of gemcraft, with a whopping 169 battles (4 of which are secret) so it should take EVEN longer, and yet beating the final field is a hard badge. I mean cmon! If you compare the first hard badge (beating two epic fields) and the second (basically beating 5 epic fields), you should REALLY see that the final hard one deserves to be impossible. Also i got wizard level 15 at about having beaten 15 fields...so... you get the picture i guess.

This game routinely seems to revert back to an old save file and your progress gets wiped out for some reason. Make regular backups of giabGclSaveData.sol.

I'm fine with this game having a Premium Edition. But the huge problem with it is you need to have premium to do the challenge amulets. That needs to be changed.

@jce123 - you probably know that you can change targeting priority. If you highlight a monster, gems will fire at it no matter how their priority is set.

Truly one of the best online free games I have ever played. After playing this game for months I felt compelled to buy the premium edition. Please buy the premium edition as it will not only add to game play, but aid these brilliant game designers continue to produce rich depth producing games.
