you can always tell who doesn't have premium in the comments... anyone who claims their favorite gem is anything other than chain, mana gain, or multi damage, has clearly never played endurance mode...

I still love this game and I keep coming back to it. The setting and mood are beautiful. And the monsters! No qualms about killing bugs. :D
The only downside is that about halfway through, it becomes so much grinding. I've replayed old tiles and leveled up as a wizard, but it's been over a week since I've won a new field. I'll keep going, because I do love this game, but just saying - it takes some serious dedication to complete this one.

Great game with some nice improvements over the prior entries to the series. This game does take a lot of time to complete though. My only real complaint, the fourth epic stage is a lot harder than the last one with the right strategy. Should be reversed in my opinion.

@superkoolguy - the newest sequel is Chasing Shadows - I think the order in the story is Labyrinth --> chapter 0 --> original Gemcraft --> Gemcraft 2: Chasing Shadows

after this masterpiece, why did they have to go back to less skills, and random catigories and dodgy artwork.... WHY?! need another like this...

grow a gem with dmg:11,555 ~ 26,128, speed:53.9(that's 53.9 hits per second omg) recipe: 25% chain hit, 25% mul-dmg, 50%bloodbound

There's just something about beating an Endurance level to the max for the first time. And then there's something about beating a Max Difficulty level for the first time as well! 1337

It's a neat concept, I like that I can pause and plan and set things up as needed. Combining the gems is fun and entertaining. I like knowing I can replace or use old gems to make better gems.

I find the conditions the protagonist in this game is under very depressing.
Hes all alone, in a giant maze, just trying to get through it, with no way out but at the end, and has to fight hordes of monsters at every turn, while an ancient evil that has presumably slept forever is chasing after him, and if he fails even once, he gets killed. i dont know if thats just me, but its a strange humbling feeling.

so incredibly annoying that the gems are always firing on the ones just about to disappear in the orb and not damaging them at all...

D4 gave me serious trouble; when the shadow is almost death, it sits on top of the orb and after a couple of seconds, suddenly, instant defeat (50k mana instantly depleted). Using a guide of someone who beat the level wielded the same results at the end (in the guide the shadow would not linger on top of the orb) :( Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?
