My mother also throws jewellry at me when I hit her, but it doesn't hurt. This game's unrealistic. I don't get hurt by jewellry. No-one gets hurt by jewellry.

In response to meetad220, points come from 2 sources. You get points for killing enemies and calling waves early. You add a multiplier to these points by expanding your mana pool. The trick is creating strong enough gems to kill waves quickly while expanding your mana pool as much as possible. This becomes much easier with the level 40 skill, it allows you to breeze through most of the levels with a glowing frame easily.

jerk move to leave New Years remarks in a video game comments section. esp when you don't leave any comments on the game itself. ftr, good game, but i miss not being able to fuse gems on the towers. could save some time and risk not dragging gems off my towers in the early stages. must've been fixed in a later game. still need to finish this baby off, dunno why i haven't yet. ah, well. the day is still young. for me that is. once more, unto the breach!

be real great if you could disable auto saves, since the game crashes every time it tries. and following the games instructions i see no option to increase storage size

Wow, this game came out over 10 years ago and it is STILL one of my favorite games. The sequels to this game are definitely better, but this game has got all the core mechanics: combine gems to upgrade one, different gems have different abilities, swap gems around to move them where you need, and speed up waves for extra resources. If you liked this game, definitely try out the other Gemcraft ones.

1/5 all tower defense games are trash. this suffers the same thing all tower defense games suffer: too slow, too boring, and not worth your time. even at 3x speed, this is slow. this whole game can be improved by letting you place gems anywhere and having a slider option to change speed from 1x speed to 10x speed. this is boring because there is no thought/strategy in the gameplay. this can be fixed by making a good game. this is not worth your time since i already explained that all tower defense games suck, therefore sucky games do not deserve my or your time. 1/5 how disappointing... the first badge of the day game in the new year sucks... not that i expected much anyway considering that 99% of badge of the day games suck.

I notice while trying to get amulets for more points that building towers reset how many monsters you killed in a row so be sure to build them first and then put all the gems in at once. I know its harder but you need the points for level completion.

Here's a few tips.
When going for score, be confident in your gems and rush waves, they can do more than you think they can.
Don't fear letting enemies through, each enemy has a banishment cost, and panicking to kill an enemy could drain the mana that would otherwise banish them.
If an enemy is past your defenses, and you don't have enough mana to banish them, rush the next wave, killing the enemies from it will get you enough mana to banish the enemy.

This is a great start to an awesome game series, but what's the deal with some amulets being only available at a competitor's site? I left that particular site over their terrible ads, so I won't be going back there.

Great game. I like placing gems in a certain order that would benefit the most (slow -> mana steal -> shock -> triple damage, for example). Remember to try and fuse only gems that have the same colour, they get extra bonuses :)

I would find a breakdown of the scoring to be very useful. It's difficult to improve my level score when I don't know what gives me points.

Wow, this is nearly ten years old! Still good fun to play, though I wish they'd come back and update the user interface, which is kinda clunky and definitely showing its age. C-click-B-drag is pretty clumsy for making a bunch of gem bombs, for example. Thankfully, the underlying game is good enough that this is just a quibble.

Coming back to this after having played the very last one goes to show how far this series has come. It's actually kinda rough playing this iteration again. But it makes me wanna revisit the newest one.
