I don't feel like the City of R'lyeh effect of doing damage when the opponent is insane works very well with the new insanity mechanism; if every round below zero sanity has a fifty percent chance of killing them anyway, it doesn't feel like it matters much if you do ten plus arcane damage. Also not sure if its a bug or a feature but even if you get an S ranking you can't progress to the next level if you died

Supernova works for me on this game. Disappointed about the art work though. The original art work in the first game was so much better. The bullet proof vest, for instance, looks like it was done in MS paint.

this game needs to be put on steam or at least made downloadable to play offline. also it would make a very fun mobile game

this new version is really cool, just miss the different forms of insanity. bring that back and this would be perfect

Everything about this sequel is borked. The first one felt like it involved a certain amount of skill. This one feels like slots at a crooked casino. The game mechanics are overly complicated. A lot of cards that used to be important don't really matter much any more. The whole thing's just a little batshit. After 10-20 tries, I'd rather play the old one.

Great game (5/5), but I would have loved to see multiplayer, more to do or at least more varied strategies among the AI. I also think the AI could have been stronger.

When comparing to the original game, this "sequel" is dwarfed by Necronomicon. Too many cards were nerfed (Dark young charge did 14+ arcane damage, Essence healed 9 health, Dark Ritual did 10+ arcane damage then healed 3), a lot of new mechanics were added (The tomes were meant to be used once and not to be in constant play. Characters? Neat, but no. Attackers and Defenders? Those stats are a "tad" off. Locations? Ok, but why tho?) The new and old card arts mesh in a bad way. It just doesn't look right, they're not as gritty and surreal as they are in the old game. Overall: a lack-luster sequel to a legendary game. (One final note: Why was Shub-Niggurath changed from the best summon-able creature for 8 sanity, to a Great old one that has to be summoned by playing 3-4 dark star cards [which never works out]? T___T)

Needs a forfeit button to skip lost matches, the game takes too long and no-one really cares about the animations, if you can call them that.

I played raid card on opponent and took away his elder sign artifact. Next turn, I played a spell attack that should do 7 damage. Opponent's 1 elder defense blocked all 7 damage. Broken.

When computer plays dimensional shambler card, it's broken. If player's elder defense is 1 or more, dimensional shambler doesn't attack even though it ignores elder defense and would do damage. Probably a function designed to save time by eliminating 0 damage creature attacks, but should not apply to dimensional shambler.

Too much decided on luck, AI seems to never needing to wait longer than 2 turns before getting a counter to whatever you played meanwhile you as a player can lose 4 games in a row from first turn taint and never drawing a single card that removes it, etc etc. So bloody unbalanced and antifun. 1 star.

needs better UI. Make cards pop out when you mouse over them to show more detailed stats and description. Better FX. Pop up text on icons and such to describe those icons. And what's with the black text on a black background... are you kidding me? That's game design 101... you never use black text on any dark shade background.

game bugged out it's mind :c sometimes i get a book that does nothing, or taint not applying, cards that do nothing, shame, i used to love this game

I love this game. I can beat up Cthulhu. I can have a goon burn down R'lyeh. I can call the police on Cthulhu! I can cast curse of Cthulhu ON Cthulhu!
I have never played a Cthulhu mythos game that went against the themes of the Cthulhu mythos as much as this one and it is glorious. Less angsting about existental nihilism and more just having henchmen machine gun the great old ones in the face is a good direction

Pure Magic achievement is not triggering properly. I've had several magic/taint wins even without any creature damage and still don't have that one. What gives?

This game isn't bad, but it's still a disappointment when compared to the original. This one is too easy, the sanity system is...well, pointless and the grading system is a bit uneven (S rank is too easy to earn).
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I got an S rank from losing. I think if you lose you should automatically get an F. Unless this was intentional, of course.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
the game is insanely easy.
Just beat some levels and go back to the first one to get an S rank
Then get an S rank on the next levels and you have a huge andvantage over your opponent
