This game isn't bad, but it's still a disappointment when compared to the original. This one is too easy, the sanity system is...well, pointless and the grading system is a bit uneven (S rank is too easy to earn).

I got an S rank from losing. I think if you lose you should automatically get an F. Unless this was intentional, of course.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
the game is insanely easy.
Just beat some levels and go back to the first one to get an S rank
Then get an S rank on the next levels and you have a huge andvantage over your opponent

I'm on level 11 and am just getting fed up with it. You just can't win. They have so many extra lives and sanity now and I haven't gotten anything extra. No way to win. Game has potential, but for now, no thanks. It's been a waste of time.

Gaining sanity from discarding basically makes damaging opponent's sanity ineffective. If the effect of discarding is greater than the effect of damaging sanity, why would you want to do that? Attack twice, defend once, sound like a good deal? :D

Continuation to previous: With the evolution of the structure the total balance of the game has shifted from ritualism to normality, from insane to the sane. Consider the old structure: Creature, Elder, Insanity, Life, Taint... New structure: Elder, Insanity, Life, Taint, Character, Location, Book, Att1, Att2, Def1,Def2, Item.

The more complicated structure is ambitious and I hope the game will progress, for it has nice potential. But thematically I think it should not leave obscurity, madness, crazy rituals and an outlook where the mundane and sane are the mi-go doctors, craftsmen of sand and dust.

Seems the game's structure has evolved and become more analytical. However unfortunately in the process some of the graphics and mechanics also cause a mood/thematic penalty. In this game mood is more important than detail. Idea level design concept is brilliant, but the mathematical final product is subpar.. structures, characters, locations.. Brilliant. Creatures' attackers/defenders system I dont personally like. It takes a great amount of skill to produce a dynamic system with the points, in the previous version the insanity system was great. Miskatonic university... Then bulletproof vest. Look at the artwork, and just ask yourself..

Personally, I absolutely loved the original, but find this sequel to be a bit lacking. Other people already mentioned the old sanity system, but it's just that the whole fast pacing of the predecessor is lost, and that's quite a shame. Also, there are some cards with artwork that absolutely don't match the great Lovecraftian horror setting that the original matched so well. 3/5, maybe had been a 4/5 it is was not a sequel. Especially a sequal to a game I easily rated 5/5.

Got it! some cards are marked with a black star-like shaped figure in the right corner, such as "The Dunwich Horror" these kind of cards connect the stars. On the other hand there are some with white star-like shaped figures, such as "Dawn of a new day", these erase the connection between stars. Rate up if it helped, so others can see this.

To fill the slot for the great old one, 3 cards with a black star on them must be played. If a card with a white star is played, then a star will be removed.

I've noticed that there's a slot for "The great Old one" and sometimes the stars glow and connect... How can I connect all the stars?

I miss the different insanity effects and some of the high-powered cards. I liked a lot of the changes to gameplay, but I miss many of the old cards. Also, it could use some badges. It's going in the right direction, but I agree it's not a "true successor."

way to much luck involved. If your opponent gets Dunwich Horror early, and you never get any banish cards or defense cards, you're screwed.

Disappointing. My favorite part of the original was the insanities, and I loved just charging at the guy and not caring if I went insane. I played, planning to go insane

So when am I getting the ability to modify my deck? The card that give one taint to my opponent is worthless after a few dozen life are added and some card I want more than one of.

Some of the achievements don't seem to trigger properly. I.E. I just took out an opponent without dropping a single physical attack card, yet I still did not get the "pure magic" achievement. And the "beat someone while suicidal" is impossible if you have enough S ranks that you never go insane.

For a "CCG" (notice the quotation marks), this game is too random and the computer is too stupid. At the start when life totals are low, the computer can easily own you in 4 moves if he gets a bunch of damage cards and you don't. But he also makes incredibly stupid moves, like using Betrayal when you have no monsters or Doppelganger when your stats are all worse than his. Also, gettintg S ranks is hell early on and trivial later since your life/sanity (and hence score) goes up but the scoring thresholds don't.

I can't help but feel like playing mirror deck kinda sucks... The theme is interesting but the game itself feels a bit underdevelopped...

I love the feel and setting, and look forward to seeing if some of the issues mentioned in other comments are addressed.

Professor Armitage card does not work properly. "Says while in play get +1 green and +2 red." Instead it works as though it is "When played, get those". If a dispel or something like that that removes green/red, the card does not reapply the +1/+2 buff.

Causing death by suicide should be worth bonus points. The fact that I did only 14 damage and killed a guy on turn 3 by suicide earned me only a Rank B with almost full life, sanity, and very little deductions.

Everyone is saying that the sanity change is terrible from the first. I think sanity in the first was a waste since it didn't affect anything and you could still play any card you wanted.
