for the imposible badge, the surest way is to use 4 clerics ... a pure END cleric in the middle-front, 2 pure STR clerics on either side-front ... and a pure INT lceric at the middle-back ... all frontline unite should focus on speed/life regen/dmg/power regen in that order, and will serve as blockers and main dmg dealers ... the INT cleric at the back should focus on power regen/speed/increased healing/armor in that order ... the frontline units will be attacking using mostly fervour, and the cleric at the back should be pimarily keeping the whole team healed, and debuffing the enemies ... wen no healing/debuffing is needed, our INT cleric can dish some serious dmg with Litany of Pain ...

The impossible badge was relatively easy if you followed the Cleric strategy above. Although at times the relentless equiping of items gets tedious, still a very fun game. 5/5

Hey jymalpha, there is a followup, it's called the "Monster's Den: Book of Dread" and it's here and on other sites. It's the same basic game with a lot of updates. He's apparently been working on a sequel as well.

This game is seriously what all dungeon crawler RPGs should be like. Understandable battles, great inventory management system, able to perform killer combos with your special moves and a tendency to suck you into an addiction that can't be stopped until you play hours upon end. 5/5 my favorite flash RPG on the internet.

okay this is a good game, but their is one major draw back, having to laboriously delete 30+ items every few battles.

dunno why, but the only thing i miss from the next one...is the move anywhere from anywher...like your at the begining and you want to move to the boss(after you have seen him) so instead of you constant clicking on every single room, you move right to him.

@Andrew: Might try putting them in the correct column for their weapon. @Artheine: Damage reflection or poison, and the latter should be obvious if you've played... well any rpg in existence I would think.

I know this is cheap, but if you think you'll lose the next battle on hardcore or extreme, load this game on a second tab. Should the next battle defeat your party, simply revert to the second tab. Make sure you open the save file before commencing the battle!

"'The beasts will not defile this place for much longer. We shall make certain of it,' she growls, hefting his weapon.".... Tranny? TRANNY!!!!! Seriously, get it fixed like my cat will be.

the newer version is so much better, I wish they would just move these badges to that version. Using 20 clicks to travel to the same palce as 1 in the other version: EXTREMELY annoying. And you can't filter out types they can't use in the equip screen

Fun fact for achieving a higher rating : Using shrines will subtract from your score ( 150pts each ), but, if you've cleared the previous floor 100%, the option to rest there ( green 'up' arrow ) will not affect your score.

If you just stack armor, endurance, health regen and damage reflect, you can just stand there as everyone kills themselves.

It's SO annoying to check what to equip EVERY TIME you win a battle. Needs less items or an auto-equip button as suggested earlier.

Congratulations! You just won the Hardest of Core Badge and 60 points!
Huzzah! I went in with: fighter which pumped pure end, rogue which pumped pure dex, cleric with 1 end/2 int each level, and mage with pure int. The rogue died maybe 6 times, the cleric once, and the mage maybe once.

Miss the shop and being able to go from one place to another without having to click all the tiles between... thats actually why i didnt get the impossible the other times i`ve played, but this time im determined to get it. Just a hint, have lots of regeneration, that way you can pass when there is only one enemy left to go to another group of enemies with full health/power. And execute in the warrior with full power= certain death

Didn't realize that on hardcore mode, when you died, you LOSE your save file. So I got to lvl 34, took me a week or so, couple hours a night, and then just tonight.....all died. Went to reload....the rest is history...not coming back...too hard.

It was nice at start, but after several levels becomes too boring. Several comments:
1. Too much items. You spend most of the time by looking and discarding them. I.e. if you dont have some class in party - why items for that class drops?
2. Dexterity stat? As I understood it is useless for mages, clerics, etc. Why then it increases?
3. After you got the point how to fight - all fights are the same. On 'hardcore'
game is still easy and you use only 1-2 spells. (I used 2 clerics+2 mages)
4. Wanted to rate 4/5, but I got third badge and didnt get 1st and 2nd. This is very strange. No more than 3 then.

No..I take that back..you spend 98% of your time comparing equipment and deciding weather or not to equip it. I'm not kidding I've been playing 25 minutes and 20 minutes of that has been staring at the equip screen..it ruins a decent series for me.

Great original! Surprising how similar it is to book of dread, which to me means that it was so great that there was little room to improve upon. I don't miss the shop too much, but I do miss the ability to go through multiple rooms at a time (dungeon pathfinding?).
Can't wait till the third comes out.

Just use 2 warriors and 2 rangers. For the first 10 levels, explore and complete the dungeon 100%. You'll have so many good items, you won't know what to do with them. By the time you kill The Corruptor, you'll have close to 15 Scrolls of Deception. From here on out, try to find the exit as fast as possible. You won't have any troubles earning the Hardest of Core Badge.

AsaysAliNN, you must have deleted your cookies somehow (or perhaps have your computer set so that it doesn't record them when leaving???). I have always exited by going to menu first, but I just tried new games without exiting, just backing out of a page, and they saved the game no matter where I was, even if in the middle of a battle (though doing that, I had to restart the battle). If you used something like CCleaner, just find where your game cookies are stored, then go to Options, then Exclude, then Add that location(s), and it won't clear game info in the future (though you will want to periodically go there to individually delete unwanted cookies). Good luck.
