I hate this game so much because it crushes my hopes and dreams whenever I play it on hardcore (because I hate myself) but I keep coming back. Please. Stop this madness.

2 clerics, 2 mages. clerics tanky front. focus on building speed, get them all above 65 speed and keep them there, with clerics higher speed than mages. Your combo is anoint each mage, then lightning storm with both. after about lvl 20 you can start skipping battles, kill boss if you find it, combo will kill every mob except bosses. don't get lazy on keeping gear up, badge in 3-4 hours

It'd been said already, but it bears repeating. This game is seriously old school. It you yearn for the classic dungeon crawls of the '80's and 90's, you'll this - as well as the two updates.

Just use 2 warriors and 2 rangers. For the first 10 levels, explore and complete the dungeon 100%. You'll have so many good items, you won't know what to do with them. By the time you kill The Corruptor, you'll have close to 15 Scrolls of Deception. From here on out, try to find the exit as fast as possible. You won't have any troubles earning the Hardest of Core Badge.

If you want the quickest imp badge then go 4 clerics. Just skip the battle, there's no reason to fight at all lol. I have no idea why one of the top comments say "do EVERYTHING for the first 20 levels, then bosses until lvl 30." That makes absolutely no sense at all. Just skip all the fights that you can and just try find the exit. You almost don't need any items when 4 clerics. The only item you need is high damage items and that's it and sure if your like level 30 and you only got items 10, You could just quickly go through the level and get the items there are. But yeah just skip fights and discard all items and you'll be fine with 4 clerics.

OOOPS, this game is awesome - but the save games are not in a database, only local cache and i lost all my chars when i refreshed the window :( oops

I know it's quite a bit late to say, but I'm really disappointed that the attack function can't be removed. for a ranged cleric, attack is completely useless

just finished getting all the badges from chronicles and came back to finally get impossible badge, and holy crap it's a shock; I forgot there was no shop, movement one space at a time with no way of seeing which spots are unexplored (unless they have doors leading off), and characters are just portraits...gonna take some getting reaccustomed to

It was nice at start, but after several levels becomes too boring. Several comments:
1. Too much items. You spend most of the time by looking and discarding them. I.e. if you dont have some class in party - why items for that class drops?
2. Dexterity stat? As I understood it is useless for mages, clerics, etc. Why then it increases?
3. After you got the point how to fight - all fights are the same. On 'hardcore'
game is still easy and you use only 1-2 spells. (I used 2 clerics+2 mages)
4. Wanted to rate 4/5, but I got third badge and didnt get 1st and 2nd. This is very strange. No more than 3 then.

I could never get the impossible badge, because I always thought I had to play the highest difficulty. But all I had to play was the easy Hardcore mode.

Floor 23: boss in the usual pack of five minions and a boss everyone else alone or in a group of two, no wonder the enemies get slaughtered so much...they can't even work out bigger groups are a bit more effective

Wow, I can't believe I played that long for that ending. Ugh. Did the sequel get better? I don't even want to find out.

Too much random garbage loot that you can't even sell for cash (which you couldn't spend anyway). Rather see nothing nothing nothing oh an upgrade than junk junk have to delete stuff junk oh an upgrade. Sifting through your inventory is not compelling gameplay.

I've read some comments and most of them are complaints about spending a lot of time equiping your characters, but for me it's the part of fun, I mean I find a lot of stuff and I enjoy the moment when I realise that some item that I found/achieved in hard battle is better then the one I have. The only thing that could be helpful is ability to switch between the characters with 1,2,3,4 buttons in inventory screen.

No..I take that back..you spend 98% of your time comparing equipment and deciding weather or not to equip it. I'm not kidding I've been playing 25 minutes and 20 minutes of that has been staring at the equip screen..it ruins a decent series for me.

While I do enjoy these games, what kinda kills it for me is that you spend 90% of the time comparing all the equipment you get to what you have equipped. It's "Ok..27 damage here..22 here, no." Then you switch characters "27 damage....19 no" Next character "27 damage..." etc. It's just constantly looking at stats to see if you wanna switch armor or weapons..on all 4 characters. Get's old really quick. The other issue is since you don't heal after battles, you don't get NEARLY enough health potions for 4 characters.

Corruptor: "I here them coming. You six, go cram into that tiny room away from everything, they'll never suspect a trap there."
Lich: "But sir, we're your best fighters, shouldn't we be deployed on the frontline?"
Corruptor: "Frontline? What nonsense are you spewing? All our soldiers will be hiding in unorganized groups distributed randomly throughout this level. All except for you, Gargoyle, you alone will be defending the passage to my chamber."
Gargoyle: "Er... So I assume you'll back me up if the fight begins to go ill?"
Corruptor: "No, I will in fact not be confronting them until all of our forces get completely massacred."
Lich: "What?! Sir, I don't see the strategic value in-"
Corruptor: "We don't have time to discuss this, they'll be here any minute! Now go, and don't forget to unlock all our armories and treasure chests on your way out. They might need some new weapons after dirtying them hacking through all of you."
