My sole issue is that it must be completed in one go. While I understand that if you die you have to restart, but what if there is an outage? Though not necessary, save files would definitely be nice. Great game otherwise, an interesting concept with a well done execution, not to mention a brilliant blend of nostalgia and modernity.

I was lost as hell at first so there you go. Arrows to move. ASDZXC and SPACE shoots (need gun). TAB resets the game. F actually does nothing, Dev says Kong won't let it go fullscreen. I haven't found any other key that the game responds to. You play as a white square, head to the center of the map to begin. "Going backwards" starts the game in hard mode and awards you with an ingame achievement.

I wish you could beat this game without the gun.
Because the final boss requires you to shoot him in a weak spot, you can't do it.

I'm surprised there isn't a walk through video for this. If I knew how to make one, I would. (not a walkthough for the cheat, but thought the maze)

Oh god. That pixel resolution. Such nostalgia. Reminds me of programming games on my TRS-80 with a whopping 16KB RAM. That's before the PC was invented, kids. Now GTFO my lawn!

hmm wierd bug game on kongrate agen i go to end of room and try to go to oter level and ten te game say no u gota play tis level agen and it just zoom out all te time and it dont let me go to oter level ????? 1/5 for game devloper and 1/5 for badge kongrate

(Spoiler) To kill the boss: Its left and right sides are open, so when you're not in danger of it coming after you (it's going up and down a lot) stand in the middle of a horizontal hallway and spam space. This will shoot bullets in the chink of its armor (where there are no spikes). Do this a bunch and you'll win.

+mnm2317 Also, going backwards brings you to a "hard mode" of sorts, were enemies shot and move faster and you have to go back to the gun (if you didn't pick it up).

Awesome game. Concept and look and feel.
Tip for 'win' badge: play normal, get gun. Then go BACKWARDS to the 'space' and continue to go 'down'. After a WHILE you'll get to the 'win screen' and when you exit there you'll be at the boss. Shoot his 'sides' until you win and get badge.
Even with that tip, I love that there's another badge for going all the way through in the 'designed' way ^)^

It would be fun to have a hard badge where you have to beat the game with a time bonus, collect all the coins and no damage taken.

The only thing I'd change about this game is the constant screen-shaking effect of the end monster. It gives me motion sickness.

This game is an excellent idea of this style of puzzle game. I have only done 3 layers and I am already enamored by it. 5/5

If you're having trouble beating the final square before you win, you have to hit the monster at either left or right side, at the spot without the spikes.

amazing concept, but maybe a little hint in the beginning, or tell us controls? it took 5 minutes before i realized i needed to use the arrow keys and not click anything :p

Love it. I think the graphics work perfectly for the game and fancier graphics wouldn't make the game feel the same. This reminds me of games on the Atari 2600, I was ready to pop out of a door and encounter that stupid dragon. Great game, bit of a challenge and really interesting concept. If this is what you can make in 48 hours I really want to see what you can make when given more time.

Btw I you start from the end, the game actually makes it harder for you after you are being "clever" because now you can't hit the edges of the shooting cubes since they fire in two rows instead, but they are easier for one to maneuver and easily kill though.

This game is so ingenious and creative! And I love the little attention to detail with how your character is always the color of the layer you're currently in. Amazing game!

Great game, simple enough to get into and start progressing, but difficult ramps up perfectly as you move on through the maze. Bravo!
