Insta win - rather than going inwards when you start, go outwards!
Then try and complete the game - much more difficult to get out without a gun and it seems as though the squares fire twice as many bullets as they used to.

im losing nearly all my life passing that one wide shooter blocking the whole path on the way to some coins... cant get in there to follow the shooting pattern, the hits throw me from bullet to bullet...

Gentlemen, behold! It's Inception for the Atari 2600!
An excellent concept, well-executed. The music feels right, the controls are nice and responsive (though hit-detection seems to be just a little difficult to predict). I have to second the requests to have a way to regain lost health -- perhaps picking up coins adds the equivalent of one hit worth?
If you could find a way to port this into an .NDS file so I can play it on my DS homebrew cartridge, I'd be very happy.

This is a really cool enjoyable game, very Atari 2600 but better. Everything about it is great, retro graphics and audio, good level of difficulty, bring on more of these.

It's absolutely amazing how the game just loops itself continuously :P - love the concept, but the ending is mind-bending too - never saw that coming

i simply loved the concept and follow-through, the game play was fairly easy but not as easy as breathing. the music was repetitive but enjoyable, the retro graphics made it perfect. the one thing i enjoyed the most was that if you end the game and continue you start over. and if you start over and go back, you play the game backwards. 5/5 keep it up!

Fun Fact: If you zoom out enough times in the initial screen, you can reach the end credits and boss level without having to go through the maze~

In order to get the game completion badge you had to actually get to the boss room and kill him. You can only damage the boss by shooting him in the side of the head where there are no spikes. Then I got a new achievement and refreshed the window to get the badge.

I don't comment on games often, but I was so impressed with this one, I had to.
Simple design, clever and original gameplay. I demand a sequel. Yes, demand. ;)

dude you can play the game back words if you go away from the maze. Hard not having a gun starting at the final boss.

step 1: go and get the gun,
step 2: go back out of the level, and keep going further out until you see the credits/score counter.
step 3: keep going out until you teleport to the boss room (center of the game)
step 4: work your way backwards out of the game, easier to get all coins :)

Great game for coordination, damage dealt is not on the same level as the graphics. I didn't need to get in the line of fire to kill the boxes, their bullets always travel in a straight path, so I sit next to the bullets and keep firing, sometimes only hitting the box as it turns.
