At first I was like: "This game is racist. There's a dark skinned girl in a town that doesn't seem very urban / technologically privileged, guards will kill you if you go in the woods, and you are fenced in an area." I honestly thought it was a portrayal of the Mexican-American border. Then I got the forest ending.

There's two endings. One ending is by beating everyone at cards. The other ending is by doing what everyone tells you not to do. XD When you find the lab, there's an exit on the other side. The stars at the bottom show you how many endings you got. With this information... you will know how the card game is related to the real world... in this game at least. Keep alive!

Father : '' Don't go into the forest now !''
Tia (in her head ) :
'' i can't go into the forest...well...technically the path goes THROUGHT the forest , not into it :) ''

Played this game several times before accidentally discovering the forest ending and was expecting guards to come out shoot me any second. All the guards left for some reason after the war in a hurry and left uncle Jack's body there and the people at camp never noticed that they had left and the cameras were automated.

I would like to establish that the music in the guard bunker is the most terrifying thing i have ever heard in my entire life.

If you followed the rules you got a good ending, where your childhood isn't spoilt by the knowledge of what's beyond the forest. If you went straight to the forest, then you were ripped out of your innocence and you got a depressing ending. Perhaps the author is trying to say that we are naive, like kids, to something (perhaps the war). It is only after we break free from the control of the authority that we learn of a bigger, yet sadder truth. I think, also, that the card game is a way in which we subtly are told the truth and prepared for it, in case we ever see it. In some way it relates to modern FPS games that kids play, which in turn prepare these kids for the harsh realities of war as a soldier (again, the story relates to war).

During it i was thinking
"Hey this looks sorta like Mother/Earthbound my favorite gaming series" You cant tell how epic i thought it was when he listed that as a inspiration for its art style >w>

I cannot tell a lie.
The music that played in the building?
Scared the SHIT out of me. Hands down one of the scariest songs I have ever heard, scarier than the song of unhealing.
It's just so subtle and perfect and strange.
Shiiiiit.

When I saw this game, I thought the you had strayed off your usual path. Then I got all the cards to beat the game, and I felt still the same. Then I went into the woods. Talk about hitting you in the gut.

there are to ways of completing this game

2(hard) winner: get every card
