I'm giving this game a 1. The fact that it doesn't maqtter how long you've been playing, at some point you are going to lose control of your bubble ship and fly through 3 or 4 areas before you can regain control makes this game unplayable. I'm also dropping point because it doesn't matter how big or how strong you get, you are always going to get taken down by tiny fast ships off screen you can't see.

Luckily, the sequels are a lot better than the original. If you miss the features listed in the top comments, go play the sequels. They did implement it!

In this - as with a lot of games on Kongregate - I encounter control issues: it often sticks when I push a directional button (as in, it keeps going right after I hit right...) Anyone have a similar problem?

Interesting that you choose to make this badge of the day, when Bubble Tanks 2 makes this game completely redundant and just serves to show how frustrating this game is in comparison.

Game was shorter than i expected- got to final boss after about 15 minutes. Game is fun and well done. And stop complaining that the second one is better. Of course a sequel would be better than the original. 4/5

No auto-fire, instead having the player click to fire. Bad.
Accidentally changing fields while moving and ending up losing all the bubbles that were dropped but not yet picked up. Also bad.
If you get hit too badly in the later stages, it is really really difficult to recover. So that's it?
No menu, mute, or pause button. None that I could find, anyway. Can't even restart the game without refreshing the page. Poor design.
Badge of the day? GREAT IDEA! NOT!

I sat here wondering why I never got the badge for this game years ago, and now having played it again I can see why. Small view, no mini-map, no auto-fire. I understand this game is over a decade old but my god, were we really that primitive when it came to thinking about top-down shooters? I don't have the patience nor the number of mouses needed to click my way through to get the badge for this horrible game

How to get the badge: The boss only shows up once you are a big enough tank. Barring problems (like death, which can do weird things to the layout) the further away you are from the start the harder the enemies are. The stronger enemies drop more bubbles, but can also kill you. If you spiral outwards from the starting bubble, you will almost always be strong enough to easily defeat the bubbles. If you get lucky, you can get triple shot before anything can even shoot at you. So if you take it slow, it might take a little longer since you're fighting comparatively weak enemies, but you should have no troubles getting the badge

there should be auto fire and the pause menu and mini map if these weren't in there this game would be called the crapest game!
:(

That being said, this game description could use a quick warning to not play it if we've already played one of the sequels...

Please take note everybody that multiple sequels to this game have been made with almost every innovation you're all suggesting, and this was years ago. Don't ask for fixes when sequels already exist!

I have played all of the bubble tanks and the thing I miss most about the first one is that all the bubbles don't come to you when you kill everything in a bubble. Keep up the great work.

Three words: repetitive stress injury.
Hint for others: once you get to having a shield around your tank, make one last spiral lap to build up your reserves. Then head straight out from the center until you hit the edge of the world. Travel the perimeter to find the boss.
I beat the game in only 3 hours this way.
However, it still needs the upgrades from the later versions. It gets highly tedious in this version.

Bubble Tanks 2 is MUCH better than this one. You have auto-fire, a mini-map, and you can choose how you upgrade your tank. I still like this one though, so 3/5 Stars. Strategy for this game: Go in a spiral from where you start, defeating easy enemies so you can upgrade your bubble tank. Your final upgrades in this game is getting 3 guns, then getting one small/fast and one large/slow gun, and then the final upgrade is a faint and then bright shields. Once you have the shields, just head in one direction as far as possible from where you started, and after about 30-50 bubbles, you will come across the boss.

Revisiting this game after six years of improvements is simply painful. Apparently at one point I thought this deserved three stars...I was a foolish child

Only question... Why no pause button? Seriously, pop-up comes by and when I look back my maxed bubble tank is now the second level up -_-
