fantastic buried gem that i found by clicking recommended games sidebar. great strategy once you understand how it works. Too bad the lack of coherent english instructions probably hold this game back (the english instructions on the version on the dev's site are much more comprehensible).

Suggestion for an addition that'd make it a bit harder: what if you couldn't kill even the level one monsters until you found the one square that was a sword?

Why isn't there any way to mark the ones you already know but arent at a high enough level to kill? The REAL minesweeper lets you mark the mines and does NOT make you keep all the places of the mines in your head. THIS game makes you remember where all the monsters are and every time you want to click on a square, you have to check all surrounding squares and make sure you can handle it.

If you click on a monster that you already killed, a red number will appear that provides the same info as the regular white numbers. Click it again to change it back to the monster. + if this helps.

Excellent game. If you miss few monsters early on and it doesnt kill you you might not have enough of monsters to go from lvl 3 to 4.

One feature I'd like to see is that, for example, if I mark a spot as a 5 because I think there is a level 5 creature then if I click that spot and I'm BELOW level 5 have nothing happen. That way if I accidentally click on something that I think is higher than me I won't lose. Kind of like putting a flag in the real Minesweeper.

I loved this game. I think the concept is great, it's just the actual flash file that needs work. Being able to access different difficulties within the same file rather than in a new site would be good, as well as a playable tutorial. I think once a few of those things get put in, it would be awesome. Also, using the Kong API so best times could go up, and maybe even gets some badges, would bring a lot more replayability and fun.

Great Take on Minesweeper. Clarify the Instructions a bit and then it would be good to go. Good Job. Simple and neat.

For Monsters, their level is their attack power and hitpoints both, xSindyx's description is wrong. A level 5 will kill a lvl 1 outright. It's easier to see with a lvl 3. Player attacks first; mob 3hp -> 2 hp: mob hits for 3; p 10hp -> 7hp: next attack 2 -> 1 hp; 7 -> 4hp: 1 -> 0... mob dies and player has 4 hp left.

Very interesting, nice twist on minesweeper. It appears that a lot of the complaints are based on misunderstandings of minesweeper itself, so don't assume that everyone knows how to play it. Anyways, good game, 3/5!

ah...at last...1980 final time :p clearing out the 1's, 2's, and 3's took me the most amount of time there, because to get to lvl 4, you need all of them. oh, and I only had 1 HP left :p

Pretty entertaining. But the instructions were pretty confusing (likely non-native English?). Instructions: Click tiles to reveal. The numbers indicate the sum of the levels (1-5) of monsters around that tile. So a 5 could be a level 5 monster, a level 2 and 3, etc. You can only kill monsters equal or below your current level. So for starters, find and kill (click on) level 1 monsters until you get to level 2, and repeat. If you click a monster higher level than you, you lose hp = level difference (so clicking a level 5 when you are level one hits for 4 hp, you start with 10). Hover over a tile and hit A,D or left,right to "flag" the tile with a suspected level number. Be careful, because you can still click these tiles. EX is your current experience, and NE is the xp needed to gain a level.

When you click on a tile that isn't a monster, a number is displayed. This is the sum of all the levels of the monsters in the tiles adjacent to the tile clicked. Using deduction and some dumb luck, you can determine what most tiles have beneath them. Much like in traditional minesweeper, you can flag a tile as having a monster. This is done by holding your mouse over the tile to be flagged, and pressing A. Doing this puts a green "5" over the tile - you can press A additional times to cycle thru the numbers 1 thru 5.
There are just enough monsters of each level to get you to the next level, so its possible to clear the board by only taking out monsters of your level or lower. Game ends when the board is completely revealed!
HP - Hit Points. Decreases when you click a tile with a monster at a higher level than you.
LV - Current level.
EX - Total accumulated XP so far.
NE - XP required to hit next level.

In the interest of helping, I'm going to re-write the rules in a slightly less confusing way:
The object of the game is to defeat all monsters. Monsters are hidden under tiles, and can be 1 of 5 different levels, shown at the bottom of the screen from left to right.
When you click on a tile that has a monster, if you are the same level or higher than the monster, you kill it and gain XP equal to it's level. If it's a higher level than you, you lose an amount of HP dependent on how much higher a level it was than you.
