1) No challenge - no balance between units and they don't feel special. 2) 'Castle' layout doesn't matter squat - position should matter and the building part of the game could be more complex (eg. archers shoot best from the frontmost of a row [no obstacles] while mages could wrap a tower around them that got more powerful the higher it was (the more mages sequentially from the ground in the same column). 3) All the maps are essentially the same and the same tactic owns them all (make a few melees to keep enemies at bay long enough to build/upgrade archers that own everything at the edge of the screen) so the game gets boring real fast, it feels like I'm playing the same level over and over again. We need a story and changing and more complex battleground.

how about some hot keys for making units, and make the mana drops appear on the screen if the unit was killed before it could enter the screen. You could also add some stationary buttons to select the soldiers, so that you don't have to chase them around, it's hard to select a specific soldier if he's line up with 3 other soldiers while attacking. Too many clicks don't register.

Once you reach the second page, it's a real pain to upgrade things, because you have to keep going back and clicking the unit you want to upgrade every time, and I have enough points to upgrade that unit from level 0 to tier 2 level 5 in one go.

Other things you could do, make Water Mags become healers. Do little damage but able to heal swordsmen. Mainly because Water Mages < Normal Mages in terms or attack speed and damage. Lv5 Mage has 280 atk and 9 aspd. Water Mages start with 100 +25x atk and 3 aspd. Better to just stay with normal ones as water mages cast once and mages already casted 3 times doing more aoe damage.

Meh, been playing the game and the comments and as far as I know: Berserker and Fire Mage. Best units in the game. Everything else ranges from not enough damage to useless. Paladins have high hp, but they still take the same damage as anyone else, unless they reduce some damage like chance to block they're useless because they rush to get hit faster and die fast. Water Mages sounds cool, but it doesnt do anything, it does less damage than mages, and attacks slower. Unlike Berserkers dont have damage or skill effect, nice if they can slow OR implement some mobs that have s useless because everyone rushes you anyways so better to have burst than low dps. Additionally no real difference between Elf and Hunter because one has low damage but high aspd, while the other has medium aspd and shoots 2-3 arrows so they do almost exactly the same damage. Need skills to make champs different.

seems like your limited by your STARTING mana. at level 5 and 6 i find the initial burst of enemies is too much for any ONE unit to take and i can't afford more than one. and it doesn't appear hat upgrading staff gives more starting mana but i could be wrong, cus after that last try i was able to get more units quicker again, even though i didn't actually change anything otehr than spending that ONE point i had leftover which i'd forgotten about in my staff, it wasn't enough to increase the regen speed to 4, buuuuut SOMETHING worked right.
Overall a pretty good game, a little bit more distance would be nice, height would be optional but also nice.4.7/5, good game, needs some fine tuning.

I have finally completed this game. I must say that at first, I thought that this game's difficulty spike for every couple of levels was harsh on me, but then I found that after playing a level or two with the new difficulty the game actually became a lot easier.
I have finished the game with maxed out Staff Level, Soldier and Mage plus just one level in Fire Mage and Barbarian. That's all you really need, seriously. The combination of Fire Mage and Barbarians decimates anything which comes near your buildings rapidly. Nothing, even with those flocks of Blue Ogres could've stopped me and none of my buildings were even touched, lol.
Overall, I thought that this was a pretty fun game despite some of its glaring flaws. I wish that there were Kongregate achievements too, though, so that I could actually earn something.

too simple. i think we need wider area for this kind of game. the concept is good. the difficulty is too random. good luck. cause i cant make a game, i can only play. 3/5

for those of you saying it gets too hard after the first few levels: UPGRADE YOUR STAFF FIRST. get it up to at least 16 before any of your other stuff is over 1. you can always re-assign your points. not that difficult, certainly not "soul crushing". who says that?

Great game. Love it. But there are some things that would make it even better. Well it's actually only one thing. Hot keys. For placing Dragmanasdasd, for selecting them and for upgrading. Soldiers are very hard to level up if it gets hectic. Cure spell would be nice but i guess that's not the way you intended the game to work.
Please keep working on it.

How many levels are there, 22? I thought that lv20 was very tough because of the introduction of the Blue Jumping Goblins D:

Also there is a with unit selection that keep killing me. I click on my mage 5 times in a row and nothing happens. Then it dies, and I lose a few seconds later. How could this have been missed during playtesting? Overall this should never have been plublished in it's current state. 1/5 for a game breaking bug.

1/5 for bad game balance. The first 5 levels are extremely easy. Then it jumps to virtually impossible to beat. This game has lots of potential but the difficulty curve is soul crushing.

Found a bug, i click new game and choose a slot and nothing happens. I click new game slot again and theres saved data but i have never played.

ok easy to understand and looks cool, then all of a sudden youre screwed. No learning curve, just too easy then too hard. Sorry but you lost me

Archers shoot faster than mages and are really strong when maxed out. My level 5 archer attacks once every second. my level 5 mage attacks once every 4 seconds.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
max out staff, mage, red mage
start new stage with red mage, permanent frost then adding new red mage when mana available
easy game but still lots of fun 4/5

To tell you the truth all games have ups and downs but thats what makes them games. I for one think this game is awesome and i dont really care about clicking a soldier but if change it make it like 1 2 3 or something like that!
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
would be good if there's hot key instead of click on solder to select 'em,
it's kinda hard to click when they move to attack and suddenly stand near/on monster,
and if I can't click on right solder who nearly dead, they die 'cos I can't lvl 'em up in time.
also would be good too if there's heal spell or any other way to heal solder.
btw great game 4/5!! ^^

With the chaos of the game, in the beginning of the later stages that is, it would be nice if there were shortcut keys for the placement of each thing. Like "1" being the tower, "2" being soldier, etc. This would make it much easier to play and allow us to keep up with the flow of the game a bit easier. I can see the original need for an increase in speed after you're finished placing all your units but until that point, I'd actually prefer a pause or slow down button if there isn't an implementation of the shortcut keys. Otherwise, like the game quite a bit.

what would really improve the game would be some kind of regeneration for your soldiers, because its imo really annoying that you have to upgrade them all the time just to keep them alive

Does need a little bit more to it. Fun in the early levels, but ja - some healing unit or spell, and perhaps some difference between the archer upgrades (they are only retextures so far as I can tell, three arrows is not functionally different to one big arrow).
Also - stuff to do lvl 21 onwards. Basically fully upgraded everything that I use. So after that no point, quit game. Still fun though :)

guys, don't max your warrior. it will last much longer if you don't. upgrade your warrior each time it gets into the red part, then he will have full health.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Fun game at first but it gets painfully repetitive way too fast. Without hot keys this game gets really annoying, especially in early levels when you have to update your units to heal them. Lots of useless units also. None of the archers do enough damage to be considered useful at all.
Need help?
1) Max staff
2) Max Mage
3) Max Fire Mage
4) Max Soldier
5) Max Paladin or Berserker, I picked the later.
6) Do NOT upgrade rain
Build fire mages all the way up and as many rows as possible and the game is too easy. If things get hard just cast the rain spell. Beat the game with no effort at all. The only advantage to upgrade units with stars is to avoid the painful task of upgrading them manually as the creator REALLY screwed that part up.
Advice:
-Add heal units or heal spells
-(Creator) Try playing your game at least once before you upload it. Had you then you would have figured out this obvious flaws on your own.

my advice to make this game have nigh on stupid amounts of mana, dont worry too much about leveling your units with stars till about lvl 6/7 up to that just fully put all stars into your wand, once u reach like level 23+ the mana regen starts going up 2 per level.

"Fire mage can only attack one enemy at a time, while water mage can cast a dragon which will attack the entire enemy in one line. Along with the level, you will need to use a combination of these two mages. I have changed the game's difficulty. The previous version will give you small challenge until the 2nd boss, but it will give you more challenge now. Thanks for the comment anyway. :)"
y doesn't it tell us that ingame?

If you insist on making upgrading the only reliable way to heal a unit, then the act of upgrading a unit should take less time than it does for an enemy to inflict killing damage to said unit. Especially when the unit is at full health.
You need to fix the health regen. Yes, it does exist, but it is so minor that it might as well not. Make it noticeable for anyone who did not screw up on Level 10 and put all fire mages and 0 archers on it.
Choosing/activating a spell must take a lot less time. I am dying on level 17 before the slow spell even starts.

(if archers are actually required to pass level 10 - then BUG: you cannot sell units to free up space for something else)
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
been playing level 10 for about 40 minutes now... a few minutes pass between waves, while my endless hordes of fire mages wait for something else to come by and clean their nails. Next Wave button would help maybe...

a line of fire mages will kill all incoming opponents - but most of the resulting mana potions will drop off-screen :( please warp off-screen mana potions to somewhere where I can click them!
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
all warriors are needed to learn to moonwalk all archers must learn how to not shoot a arrow then throwing one to make it look real all mages are needed to buy a sound effect the force will do it for u guys

adamgwe, use the rain magic, I pass with lvl 35 staff, lvl 5 mage, lvl 5 fire mage, lvl 5 archer, lvl 5 hunter and lvl 2 Swordman. As you can see, I did not upgrade any magic, this reduce de cost of them.
