Was going to critique but now i see there's a sequel so you may have already improved upon many aspects... I'll go check it out to make sure.

Whew. Finally beat this game with my wizard. Took a lot of luck and just the right spell combinations. Polymorph proved invaluable in later levels, turning minotaurs and werewolves into bandits and spiders. Took luck with that spell too though, sometimes it would turn a werewolf into a.. werewolf >.< The sleep spell is not to be overlooked either. Hitting enemies does not wake them up so you can often finish off minion while its sleeping. In later levels though the enemies have too many hit points, you don't want to risk being in melee range with them as a wizard. Used a lot of shadow walking and teleporting to get out of sticky situations till my fireball and polymorph spells were recharged.

It'd be nice if there was some incentive to keep me going (like how in hack slash crawl you get teh little title bonus thingies) otherwise, pretty good game. Kept me occupied, no major flaws to point out. 4/5

Lacks some sort of SAVE, for those who manage to get to higher levels and want to CONTINUE with their characters later... but an EXCELLENT and nostalgic reminder of dungeon crawling roleplaying adventures in the old days. Excellent. I will play this again, many times and tell my old roleplaying friends. The ones I've told already love it, and were greatful for the pointer.

"Well, sir, we finished making the labyrinth, we let in a bunch of bandits and let some slimes in, what should we do now?" "We must install over nine thousand doors!"
Construction process.

Decent pace, nice music, simple mechanics. First play-through was with the wizard/mage and found it rather interesting and fun. Nice commentary from the character 'not half as good as my staff', 'I've been looking for one of these'. For some reason I'm half expecting to see characters from 8-bit theater to appear. Not as hard as say ADOM, so it's a nice intro into rouge-like.

game was having an issue where I couldn't tell where I was part of the time. Possibly something that would need to be addressed

I wish this game was updated... I bought it a while ago, but my harddrive crashed and I can't bring myself to buy it again if it hasn't been updated since. It got to the point where I beat the game every single time I played

Hey, I won!...wait a minute, I won? Are you supposed to be able to do that in a roguelike? I didn't think so. Anyways, upon playing a mage for the second time I managed to find a second fireball spell, and I instantly knew there was gonna be some pwnage up in there. Using those two, plus fear, plus sleep, plus shadow walk wound up making the whole thing easy as pie (I guess pie is a particularly easy food. Anyone who's seen american pie should know how slutty pie is). The double fireballs was really what did it though...

This game is great. It's exactly what I'm looking for in a rogue-like. Someone brought up a good question in the comments. What is the gold for? Maybe a shop feature could add some incentive? Really enjoyed this!

The game has the foundations for a good rouge-like, but it seems woefully incomplete. More types of equipment, a couple more classes, deeper levels, and a few character-development choices, and you've got yourself a five star game, imho.

When I go a few steps I move out of the visible area. Maybe I'm just too stupid or overlooked the instruction, but like this it's not even playable.
