It'd be nice if there was some incentive to keep me going (like how in hack slash crawl you get teh little title bonus thingies) otherwise, pretty good game. Kept me occupied, no major flaws to point out. 4/5

Lacks some sort of SAVE, for those who manage to get to higher levels and want to CONTINUE with their characters later... but an EXCELLENT and nostalgic reminder of dungeon crawling roleplaying adventures in the old days. Excellent. I will play this again, many times and tell my old roleplaying friends. The ones I've told already love it, and were greatful for the pointer.

"Well, sir, we finished making the labyrinth, we let in a bunch of bandits and let some slimes in, what should we do now?" "We must install over nine thousand doors!"
Construction process.

Decent pace, nice music, simple mechanics. First play-through was with the wizard/mage and found it rather interesting and fun. Nice commentary from the character 'not half as good as my staff', 'I've been looking for one of these'. For some reason I'm half expecting to see characters from 8-bit theater to appear. Not as hard as say ADOM, so it's a nice intro into rouge-like.

game was having an issue where I couldn't tell where I was part of the time. Possibly something that would need to be addressed

I wish this game was updated... I bought it a while ago, but my harddrive crashed and I can't bring myself to buy it again if it hasn't been updated since. It got to the point where I beat the game every single time I played

Hey, I won!...wait a minute, I won? Are you supposed to be able to do that in a roguelike? I didn't think so. Anyways, upon playing a mage for the second time I managed to find a second fireball spell, and I instantly knew there was gonna be some pwnage up in there. Using those two, plus fear, plus sleep, plus shadow walk wound up making the whole thing easy as pie (I guess pie is a particularly easy food. Anyone who's seen american pie should know how slutty pie is). The double fireballs was really what did it though...

This game is great. It's exactly what I'm looking for in a rogue-like. Someone brought up a good question in the comments. What is the gold for? Maybe a shop feature could add some incentive? Really enjoyed this!

The game has the foundations for a good rouge-like, but it seems woefully incomplete. More types of equipment, a couple more classes, deeper levels, and a few character-development choices, and you've got yourself a five star game, imho.

When I go a few steps I move out of the visible area. Maybe I'm just too stupid or overlooked the instruction, but like this it's not even playable.

It would be nice if I gained exp from all the mobs that magically appear after the floor is cleared and I found the staircase...

-The Space key have the same use as Enter.
-To heal when you don't have anymore health pots or heal spells ready, use all your spells (preferably) then use a mana potion and it will regenerate the heal spell.
-I find that the heal spell is not terribly good (even if it always heals you to full) once you get something useful to put in the last slot, as it doesn't recharge fast enough.
-You can use Shadow walk even if you're in front of an enemy, because it will still make you invisible to enemies. Then you can go near an enemy and hit it for a backstab (which does double damage) as long as you are invisible, which is easier if you use Haste or freeze the enemy before going invisible.
-When you use sleep on an enemy, attacking him won't awake him. So you can make an enemy come after you, go away from other enemies until the 1st one is next to you, then make him sleep and buff your (or debuff his) speed or attack or both if needed, then attack him and he won't attack back.

Wizard is pretty powerful if you pile on the spirit in your equips, with speed as a secondary focus. Fireball is your main way to deal damage, with distraction spells like Sleep and Fear to keep the enemies busy while your other spells cycle. At the end, I had 2x Fireball, Fear, Sleep and Heal as my loadout, though between Fear and Sleep there is hardly any need to be at risk of taking hits at all.
What would make this game even better / more fun would be some kind of purpose of the dungeon crawls, something to work towards over the course of multiple expeditions.

I went with rouge: quite OP if you find another shadow step. After that, just stack speed buffs and you'll win. I used heal, 2 shadow step, berzerk and haste, but you should do the best with whatever you have. Remember, shadow step charges on speed, berzerk charges on attack, and heal charges on exp, so those are great for melee chars. Backstab deals extra damage, so if learn monster HP's and find when however many buffs OHKOs or 2HKOs, to make the most of your buffs.

I love it, it's minimalism style and 8 bit graphics are similar to Realm of the Mad God but it's a solo dungeon crawl. I don't care for Diablo but I've always been a huge fan of the Fallout series ever since I got to play the beta as a teenager in the mid 90's, the free exploration/turn based combat combo is the best.

SPOILER: The ending arrives suddenly and without warning: After killing the last monster on the last level, we win - the main villain escapes and we can't even fight him! ARG!

I actually found Rogue very easy, if you find a few delaying(Mirror, Freeze, Charm) spells at the beginning. These+fireball=Invincible rogue!
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Beating it with a thief was fun. Ended up using two shadow walks, sleep, heal, and polymorph for spells and a double bladed katana.

So you never win. You just kill the minotaur's servants and he runs through the portal. No boss battles, nothing.
....
Aw.

Cool! I was just listening to Roguelike Radio and Googled this...and found it on my all-time favourite site! Love your podcast dudes.
PS There's a 'roguelike' tag on Kongregate??
