If you can't submit a save system. At least add a system of achievements that make the game easier each time you crawl through it(by adding a stat point or extra ability or life, or whatever you decide). Like other games similar to this have. +1 if you agree.

Really really liked it! Simple, clean, fun! I feel like I owe you a quarter though everytime I play it. lol! I'd like to see maybe a store or something to spend the coins on. If there's already a system for the coins in play ignore me. :) Really good game though! Thanks for making it!

Wow.. that GameOver screen is unforgiving. I was planning to be here all night. :( Flo0r 8 with epic gear 5 health pots and I made a stupid mistake... Sigh.

How to work around the bugs (and take advantage of one!):
If you want to swap a spell, do in the following order: open inv, remove spell, close inv, open inv, add spell. This avoids the swap bug. To take advantage of the nulls after death, once you find the -2 speed axe, remove all other items and get yourself killed; you now have +2 speed! Only works if you haven't died yet!

Best way I found to deal with minotaurs (charming aside) is turn invisible and fireball them from a distance. I got greedy once and got one-hit by them (again), and beat the game with null stats shortly afterwards by sticking to what works - 2 invis spells and fireball, along with rage so I wouldn't completely fall behind in speed.

Finally finished, bugs and all. Speed really helps against the minotaour. Another tip: he can be charmed! Not only giving you time to escape and regen your skills, but also letting him take on the werewolves and other minotours!

Badges require Kong API. This game lacks Kong API, and thus will have no badges. You can check easily by looking for the high score tab. HS tab = possible for badges.

From fully healed/very well-armored (18/13) to dead by a single minotaur swing? (lvl 8 on floor 7) This is a fun game man, but please, balance!

Good game but a little buggy sometimes : when you want to replace one of your spells, sometimes it leaves you an empty cell where you can't put any new spell and when you go leave the equip screen the spell you wanted to withdraw is just below your character and it's very annoying because it cuts down your visibility.

A very enjoyable game.
I think the following would improve it:
Save function
Personal high score and character type (like Crawl)
Still 4/5 from me.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
The game is addictive, but there's some bug, for example, if I want to reorganize my spells, some empty cells won't work because the game considers that a spell is already on it

how in the hell are you supposed to beat this? i can only use the warrior everything is extremely random even with the strongest spells weapons and accessories + all the strategies ive tried i cant get past floor 8 for some reason.i love it is prolly the only reason i keep trying.epic game.love the 8 bit.with all the improvements and bugs worked out it could be easily 10/10

I'm sad that the game is getting less than positive replies, although I agree that the game is glitchy as hell I liked it, a lot. There is nothing more exciting than being overwhelmed by spiders as a mage, or strategically sneaking as a rogue, the warrior didn't entertain me much.
A multiplayer version of this would be very, very cool. Everyone would move once every... say four seconds. (Earlier if everyone is already finished) Throw in character customization, PVP all that good stuff and you have a solid game, better than most of the crap mmo we get these days.

It's a pretty game, it needs spellcasting for some fights, which is awesome, but i frequently have to leave and do something else which means i need a "continue" button at least. Plus, when you die, make it so you don't just lose the entire progress ! Health regen is a must, and a use for gold is needed. Also the spells' bug needs to be fixed otherwise it's just unplayable... i give it 5/5 simply because i know you're working on the bugs :)

Great start, but many bugs are obvious ones which should have been caught and taken care of before the game was released. Also, the classes seem a bit unbalanced, with the wizard being by far the strongest. The unbalanced class thing is in pretty much every game, so I'm not going to factor that into the rating, but many of the bugs, as I said, should have been taken care of before the game was released. They are a nuissance, but most don't ruin the game, so I'm going to go 4/5 here for now. Will probably be raised to a 5/5 once the bugs are taken care of though.

For those struggling with this game... Choose mage, and start off using the tactic of "fireball and run". If you're tight for space, run as far as you can go in one direction, wait for your enemy to come level with you, then run as far as you can in the opposite direction, rinse and repeat until you can fireball them to death. explore every room, kill every enemy and grab all the loot. As you collect magic, you want to collect anything that slows the enemy from getting close to you, injures the enemy or heals you, and use these to rinse and repeat this strategy. The ideal selection of spells is fireballX2, heal, mirror image and charm. Freeze and sleep are also good. If you can make a bottleneck and either use mirror image, charm, sleep or freeze in the bottleneck, that works well too. Hope this helps.

Maybe it's nice for masochistic players.
I don't like being gangbanged by 3 opponents that can twohit me every other room.

Wait, when you beat the game, the guy that should be the last boss just gets up and leaves? And he LAUGHS at you?! Had fun getting there though. Wizard with double fireballs rules.

The thief seems to be pretty easy despite the descriptions, shadow walk is quite powerful also the cooldown is going down as you're in the walk so if you try to backstab someone near the end of that cooldown you could potentially be in shadow walk indefinitely doing backstabs, shadow walk works with teleport too which could make for some interesting hit and run tactics, I like this roguelike.

heres a tip if you want to choose what item you want to equip before picking up the weapon/armor unequip it so you can see its abilitys vote + so others can know!

The game concept is good but it is too buggy. The slots gets mixed up. My spells actually displayed another spell icon and my fifth spell got moved to the middle of the screen so that I can't remove it or use it without pressing "5". And the game did not give me sufficient information on how to actually play the game. I did not realize the game has "turns" the first time I played it. I am still confused on exactly how speed works. Once I did figure out how the game works the game was rather enjoyable. This game would have a higher score if it wasn't too buggy and if it had better instructions. Please fix the bugs, I can't bring myself to give a buggy game anything above a 3/5 even if the concept it good.

This game seriously needs a display for either the current cooldown (based on spirit, preferred) or the relative cooldown (base cooldown) of spells in the inventory screen. That way, I can better tell at a glance whether or not a spell is worth swapping out, without having to even try it. Also, while we are at it lets add in damage.

This was pretty enjoyable, but not something I'd play very often. The most disappointing thing for me was not being able to choose your own weapons and armor! Apparently all short swords have the exact same bonus, so there's no chance of getting one that has +2 to it or similar. I really like equipment systems I can fiddle with to get maximum results.

the last bug i wrote applies all skills: each time you change a skill, you have a chance, that any other skills will mixed, too.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Buggy. Got new spells as a wizard but couldnt add them - removed haste and then it vanished from my inventory. Nice concept though.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
@JenovaSYTHESE Go into your inventory and hover over the skill.
Fun game, but the bugs do kill it. Very nice/simple rogue-like. I would add attribute descriptions though.

If you're having trouble, may I suggest playing as a wizard? I think it's easier than a warrior if you play strategically (i.e. run away a lot). I used 2 fireballs, 1 charm monster, and 1 sleep, and really had no trouble with the final floor.

I got killed by some range attack, then on the other life i got killed by the same range attacks from creatures the other side of the dungeon. SHENANIGANS.

Often icons disappear in spell slots (can use them still with the key but can'T change them anymore). Soam disappearance in inventory. Sometimes starts to run in one direction. Often things happened as if one has cast another spell. Remove those bugs and get a 5/5 for this nice game, else keep the 2/5.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Also the auto-equip seems a little nuts, because I find that it seems to automatically destroy my previous piece of equipment upon putting on the new one. Even if I had to do a little maintenence cleaning out my inventory once in a while, I'd strongly prefer NOT to lose my old stuff when I would have preferred it over the new item.

The damage does seem to be quite random, and sometimes the difficulty level of the monsters just jumps greatly. On dungeon level two I was slapping all the monsters around, and at dungeon level three I died after just two spiders. Make the game a little more playable and you have gold

The only way to beat this game is to find the heal spell. If you haven't found it by the time you're fighting elementals, you're probably not going to make it. Dual fireball wizard with heal, teleport, and shadow walk is the most powerful combo I've found. Great hit and run damage for kiting and evading minotaurs. I'd love to see a 'full' version. With the ability go back to the surface and use gold, heal up, and delve again and find missed spells.

would be a 5/5 if it were not for the little glitches here and there. had trouble with spells disappearing/now showing in their respective boxes. sometimes their cooldowns and effects got swapped with another spell (ex: my flame swapped with reveal map)
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
although rogue is for "advanced players", but for me it seems the easiest class to play with. (backstab, freeze, charm, heal) I am simply untouchable :)
