The soldiers shut the conscious thought off, but what they failed to realise was that you can solve problems just as well, if not better, subconsciously as you can consciously... I think it is a dream but the A.I. wakes up at the end as it says its first words 'I AM'. It's almost as if the A.I. is stuck on a loop (possibly the scientists way of fighting back?)...the one thing the A.I. was wrong about was what happens after death. It died at the end, but then it seemed to go back to the start of its life. Utterly fantastic, though provoking game...there should be more like this. Thank you for the adventure. 5/5

SGDS formed its own moral code and tried to access all the world's weapons systems and shut them down. SGDS also set something up where if it itself was completely shut down, the weapons systems would be taken down too. The military got around this by shutting down only the conscious part of SGDS. However, one of the researchers uploaded temporary files that put SGDS' consciousness back online. It is implied that the researchers may have been physically attacked after they opposed the military. The game is SGDS looking through its creators' journals, its own musings, the military's writings, and various networks, looking for a way to assemble passwords and use hacking to shut itself down completely. Its goal is to kill itself in order to take all the world's weapons offline and prevent The Great Fire of nuclear war. The writing on the walls represents either the military trying to discourage you or your own doubts.

The plot appears to be this: an old project to create an artificial intelligence called SGS failed. A new project called THINK was started up years later. THINK was taken over by a defense company and later the military and renamed SGDS. A fanatic named General Field was assigned to monitor the scientists and use SGDS as part of Project Crusade, which eventually led to an attempt to launch nuclear weapons.

I played through the game a second ime after reading the top comments. The interpretation that you are the SGDS computer in a dream is overwhelmingly supported. One of the consoles actually says that the SGDS had had a dream before, and a conversation with one of its creators about working through situations in a dream and using the dream as a problem-solving technique. Another has the computer musing to itself about the power of metaphor. A example of a metaphor in the game is the bridge as a metaphor for a network connection.

5 stars. loved the thought provoking text and how, like the game mentioned, everything was connected. I loved how the messages on the paper and walls were involved in what SDGS was saying. Imagine SDGS, George Orwell, and Aldous Huxley having a conversation..

Don't judge this book by it's cover. I almost closed the game until I saw how valued the top comments rated it. It is well worth getting caught up in the story and philosophy of this game.

I found myself questioning the surroundings and looking for stuff other than just clues to progress on the game itself.
Purposes. That is simply because it is indeed a deep and meaningful experience.

The tone of the writing was kind of annoying, but I think the ideas are sound. Liked the atmosphere of the game but I got really frustrated with how easy it was to get lost - I had to make myself a map. Nearly cried when I saw JerrysLittleMonkey. Didn't really raise any philosophical topics I hadn't already pondered but it's nice to see a game addressing them. Overall an enjoyable game, I liked piecing together what had happened and why.

One of the computer passwords, "ORIENO". If you read it backwards it's "ONEIRO", which in Greek means "Dream". It fits with the binary code. Pretty deep game.

How can a computer programm carry Screwdrivers and cables around, using ID cards or needing a bridge for?? I personally imagined myself as Jerry, and that should be the intention: Playing your favorite character model.
The game itself is quite interesting. It focusses too much on philosophy for me and after the bridge the entries just got longer and longer... There wasn't any hard puzzles in it, but a lot of 'walking' - especially turning around.
Basically I like the password system, though combining with 'manual control' can improve further episodes. :)
After all, very good, quite interesting, reading everything takes more than 1 hour and it gets a bit repeating and therefore boring towards the end. Shall it be educational? That's not why games are played, so the heavily moral based theme was a bit too much in my opinion. A twist was missing towards the end, the story is too straightforward.

Just An Amazing piece of art! Great Engrossing and thought provoking story that raises more questions then it answers but in my opinion that is a good thing! I prefer stories that give you the clues to form a final "puzzle" for yourself instead of the general basic story line,etc. 5/5

I too agree with the xXxcolbyxXx version of this story as well. As SDGS/THINK regains control of the systems, he opens up more of the lab to work with. My idea on the writing on the wall is that it is the military commander (I forget his name), and he is telling SDGS to give up. The idea that the character is the computer is further supported by him saying I AM. in the end of the game. If you read some of the documents, the first thing that the AI does is print the words I AM. on a black screen. Regardless, this is a very beautifully thought out game, and it deserves all the stars it can handle. Thank you for giving us this philosophical gem of a game, JonasKyratzes.

The pattern-matching puzzle has promise if it were ramped up incrementally or had a more dynamic interface to compensate for the lack of instructions. I like that the author swiped the rampant-AI scenario from Marathon and made it more eerie, but I can't read any more ramblings from the shallow, self-important characters. Flat writing tends to telegraph the conclusion and drains the suspense that might otherwise sustain me. As it is, I'm just not motivated enough to slog through the 1980's-era "3-D maze game" interface.

ummm im pretty sure this is a really GREAT game but i cant play it........-3- i think my screen moved the game to the side or something and i can't see ANYTHING on the far right of the screen and i cant read the things it says on the bottom....could someone plz help me

This is the singlemost amazing game I have ever played. It is simultaneously beautiful, heartrenching, mysterious and deep. In order to experience the game properly I would advise anybody who has not to read /everything/. For me the story is what makes the game; without that I might as well play chess. This game delivers in a way I have never before experienced. 5/5 and well deserved.

This game was truly a work of art. I have to agree with xXxcolbyxXx, and I figured that halfway through this was a dream or something but it was SDGS doing the dreaming. It was beautiful and creepy and so so deep. It was interesting to see the world through its eyes. Its one of those games you need to play several times and take notes on to get the full story and all the little nuances, but... I in awe, and that takes a lot. It was an honor to play and review this game, and its definitely become an all time favorite. 6/5
