Nice little game. :) Quick badges all things considered. It's refreshing to see a platform game with no real enemies and no millions of spikes at odd angles killing you. Just good, stress-free fun.

You won't be able to dodge the snake boss at the end, once he's already coming. So the question you must ask yourself: Is there a pattern to his movements? There is, so pay attention!

(Sly talking), I can't wait for William to stop talking so I can go help him, by leaping into the air, climbing up trees, going in caves and collecting fireflies. Just like any other fox would.

what would make this game better is once you get the map at least let it give you your locations of what underground tunnels you been through already

This is so fluid and gorgeously animated. I would actually love a version without the battle because the gameplay makes me so sleepy and peaceful that it kinda makes me not want to kill anyone, and I always want to kill everyone. Take away the monsters and you could actually end wars with this.

loves da game ^^ played bout 5 times n won 5 times ^^ truth be told, ish not easy o_O gotta time right on da snake dude, or just stay on a 2 "floorrs" n count wen he opens n wen he closes, on those 2 floors (the 2 floors are obvious, the 2 first floors you see, floor 1 n floor 2, not the '1 floor split in half at the top, to make 2 floors) n yeh, thats howz i didz itz :P hope this helps, cuz em not very good at being helpful ._.

Kajenx.
This and the second game are really fun to play.
The graphics are amazing, cute and fun to look at. The map is very helpful. A game that is full of places to explore is great.
There is nothing to correct the instructions are easy to follow and controls are good.

Boss patern: bottom open, bottom closed, top open, top closed, repeat. When it is open, it eats your fairyflies, when it is closed it is harmless. Keep this comment alive to help anyone who needs it.

My only complaint is a rather important one: Destroying the enemies within the short time after activating a Rune-stone is nearly impossible. Since you have such a limited timespan and they're very spread out it would take complete memorization of their locations and the fastest way to get there to even have a hope of getting them all.

Even after 5 years, this game is one of my absolute favorites on Kongregate. Kajenx, if the Internet were able to send hugs, I would be sending you one right now! Great job on this game, and on the sequel!

Won't William be surprised when his fox returns, covering in fairyflies like they were fleas and with the inexplicable ability to fly with wings, like he was high, except he isn't high, and he can actually fly.

I am not kidding or exaggerating in any way remotely: this game has the best 2d platformer graphics in flash history... if not in platformer history. I am studying parallax scrolling and this game uses the best scrolling technique I have ever seen.

Its a nice game. Its graphics are good, and the ambiance that the far-away thunderstorm gives the forest is nice. It makes me feel calmer than a full-out clear day gives me. The mechanics are nice as well as the flying fox. Killing all the darklings is very hard as the charge only lasts for you to kill 1 nearby and possibly return to the stone before running out. The music is good as well. I want to see more of this time of game, games for casual, pick-up-in-the-middle kinda gamers. 5/5 definitely.

Its hard to believe this game is going to turn ten next year- that's so much time! I remember playing this for the first time in 2010 on Newgrounds, and then a few years later being astounded and very happy to find that there was a sequel. This game always held a sort of a simple, meditative happiness to it, and I've never forgotten about it. Wonderful atmosphere and just enough worldbuilding to be intriguing without bogging us down in tolkien-style details. Looking forward to the book and - hopefully! - the third game :)

Is anyone else experiencing the picture of the game having white streaks across it whenever you move the character? I've tried to play the game on other laptops and it worked just fine. Suggestions? Thanks! btw both this game and the sequel are both utter delights to play!

I love the game... 5/5, but it'd be cool if you could kind of put all the fairyflys that you've collected into a runestone so that you don't have to run around with them throughout the whole game while trying to avoid darklings... also, I think it'd also be cool if you could get a little more white magic time, because it's difficult to find where the darklings were and kill them in time before your white magic runs out... Great game though :)

Um, I found a tunnel, and took it, but as I kept going I fell out of the map... It is located a bit before the second temple. Please fix it :(

The seems between the graphics tiles shows when you go into cinematic mode or zoom the screen in. Looks bad unless you keep it tiny and hard to see.
