there needs to be another way to kill darkin other than when you unlock a teleporter. for completion purposes, and so that you are able to kill the ones in more punnishing positions if you mess up getting to them

Alright, I got it! The trick is, run around all over the place, and avoid collecting them, then wait until they are everywhere, then wait to make the right move then swoop in!

I'm somehow tearing up a bit at this game, and I have no idea why.
I absolutely adore the animation and how fluid everything is, even from todays standards. 5/5 absolutely amazing even in the earlier areas.

For everyone struggling with the boss I watched his pattern for a bit.
He will go one swipe at the bottom with mouth open (Eating your fireflies) and then one without mouth open (Safe to be hit with), it will then swap to do the same at the top. One swipe with mouth open, one with mouth shut.
Change sides when the shut mouth sweep happens, check for fireflies and then rinse and repeat. It's pretty easy this way!

tedious no real gameplay and the secrets are trial and error. this game fails in all departments even the atmosphere because tedium and atmosphere do not work together 1/5

Incredibly artistic game with beautiful gameplay, music, controls, and storyline. I enjoyed myself to the fullest extent. The signs, the holes, the monsters, the runestones, the chests and keys and mushrooms... It's all beyond the point of magical, it is quite simply mystifying. The flying was wonderful, and I loved the end scene artwork. The near static-like world with its lines and vibrations made the game a bit dizzying, but overall I feel as though it contributed to the atmosphere of the game. I loved the boss, and every hidden little alcove that I'm sure I didn't find. Beyond belief, this is one of my favorite games on Kongregate, and I happily rate it with a full 5 stars!

In addition to hotsauce72 's recommendation. I think another helpful tip is to wait till 5 fireflies spawn and then take them all quickly. I personally found that helpful, but if you are unlucky with where the creature spawns, it may take a couple of tries. Hope this helps.
