This game has a lot of potential, but the way it is currently set up it is more frustrating than enjoyable. Would be nice to see some more evolving challenges, equipment saved between levels, the ability to redirect your enemy (perhaps build walls, as well as dig them out?), and most importantly, the ability to reset skills without having to waste time replaying the previous level.

Handy tip, to earn the badge of the day you don't actually have to dig Gold. You just have to dig a sum total of metal/ore worth 100 gold.

Fate...you are full of crap. Tried all 3 avatars. Upgraded Minotaurs like you said but level 4 only gives 132 gold..wtf. so can buy 5 of them. doesn't kill enough to buy more.

I like the idea of the defense strategy with a mix of dungeon creatures you can have and traps you can set in your little arsenal. But the overlapping game play makes it pretty boring when you reach Level 4 or so and the AI of enemies aren't very bright.

It crashed my browser three times in a row just trying to load it, so sadly I couldn't play. Thought I should just mention in case anyone else is having issues and/or it can be resolved.

The game needs to adjust to all resolution types. I'm not using a wide-screen monitor so the text on the screen is going beyond my view space.

If anyone wants to play a game that did it better, check out Dungeon Keeper 2. It's not a flash game but you can get it dirt cheap these days.

The game needs more documentation: I have little idea what I'm buying with gold or points. Existing documentation needs serious editing: the missing words and changes in point-of-view and verb tense make the story line and hints painful to fathom. Status information during the game lacks clarity and breadth, making the play a matter of experimentation and investigation, rather than simple play.

I have never played a TD so utterly, grindingly slow... Great concept, I like the digging for gold and the possibilities of new routes, but this whole game was poorly implemented. Not playing this one again, but hopefully you take these comments to heart, and make a #2 with improvements.

Are items deployed when they're in the gold rectangle, or in their individual little squares on the right? +1 on the grinding comment; grinding shouldn't be free, but what's the point of the elaborate skill trees?

Stage 4 wasn't that hard. Just make sure you guys have Minotaurs and lots of them, with the Beefy upgrade. Worked fine for me. Important thing in this game is to reset your Upgrades for the next map correctly. That's why you get so few points, because you are supposed to be strategic. If you want a general strategy though, the hero avatar upgrades are always okay, especially Alchemy. The 3rd Manticore is nice too. I find the archer to be best. He can take some hits, but also do range kiting cheeze.

This game is only 3.8, that's a shame! Came out 6 years ago, and it's gameplay is still unique! I dunno who the coder is, but I give him a hundred kudos, because this game could be morphed, updated into so many many good games...

Why are the enemies health bars not red? It makes it extremely hard to figure out who is who. I can't be the only one who has issues with this.

This game has great potiential, even though (as the top comments have pointed out) it has several flaws. But I love the music, it's so relaxing! I'm upping my rating from 3 to 4 stars just for the music. This is a good kind of game to relax to. Especially since it has a speed slider-bar so you can adjust the pace however you like.
Also I believe I've played a free demo of a more advanced version of this game once, from Steam. It had Diablo II-quality graphics, and IIRC even the same name, so must be part of a series. I wish there was a sequel here on Kongregate too.

You know that I hate that when I get a award in the high score, there are some there that used Cheat Engine to get up there.

Wait... I was playing and then suddenly, a monster just walked across the walls straight to the home base thing. What?

Hard mode, using just goblins and centaurs.
Will gladly answer any questions, or help out with this fine old gem of a game. :) Link to forum thread:
