Under rating threshold (show) Fantastic level design -- I always found an object quickly without the feeling of being led by the hand. However, the game mechanic has nothing to do with the story! Also the genre conventions of art games are getting scarily strict -- this music, this aesthetic, this story are all clichés by this time.

Under rating threshold (show) I think what happens is, a boy (whom I named Billy Bob Joe) is running after a girl his whole life (the girl, I named her Theresa). But Theresa never notices Billy Bob Joe, because she is depressed. Billy Bob Joe gives her gifts after gifts, hoping she'll notice. The gifts are represented by colors, and as you give her more, the scene starts getting colorful, representing the passing of time (I think). Then, after she is ready to get out of depression, it's too late. Billy Bob Joe dies soon after she is happy. He dies sad, but at the same time happy. He is happy that his gifts took Theresa out of depression, but sad that he couldn't live with her, share a life with her. It's a great game! (Maybe if you make a Grey 2, it could be about the girl's experiences in depression and, in her mind because she's oblivious to the world around her, make her try to escape depression.)

Under rating threshold (show) I wonder who decided to use an old lollipop from a crack in the wall over a pool of stagnant water in some other guy's basement as a present.

Under rating threshold (show) ok, so I wrote a poem for this... umm... sorry if it's not so great... here it goes... She sees me not, though I am there, As the restless winds curl through her hair, The laughs we've shared, the time we've spent, Has left her in a dungeon pent, And in her heart, she'll always care, But sudden loss left her world bare, The good times gone, the colour grey, She must move on for I can't stay.

Under rating threshold (show) I think the "person" you're playing isn't a soul, but it's emotion. Sadness, so deep and painful, it took it's own form. Because you can't see emotion, when it waved it's hand in front of a boy, he didn't see it. It might have known the boy was sad, and wanted to fix it.. explaining why each time you give something to the boy, you get more shallow, and less control, and finally disappears when the last thing is brought.. She found peace when you were gone,(getting that from the dove) And had strength to move on. A wonderful, beautiful game, with very fitting music.

Under rating threshold (show) This was a beautiful story and one of the saddest games I have ever played. I loved how the soundtrack fit perfectly with what you feel while playing. (Or at least thats what it felt like to me.)

Under rating threshold (show) This game has the kind of meaning that I look for in the world. Lately all I find is meaninglessness everywhere and I was really happy to find this game and know that I'm not the only person that thinks adding this and these ideas to a persons mind is important.

Under rating threshold (show) I nearly teared up at the beautiful story and music. As I played I saw that I was slowly fading away with each item i gave to the girl. I also liked how the bird came and she set it free afterward. This is a truly touching expirience. Thank you.

Under rating threshold (show) Amazing way of representing the spirit of one who does not know he is dead, fulfill his final purpose, or 'unfinished business' with this world, which is to lift his love from her depression at losing him and bring colour back to her world. The closer she comes to the world, the less visible, more shadowy and ethereal you become.

Under rating threshold (show) my theory is they were in love and the boy was dealing with depression, committed suicide and then felt bad that he had left his girlfriend there. so, he did everything in his power to make her happy again.

Under rating threshold (show) This was amazing, from the start to finish.I'm glad you made this game, and I hope you will continue to make games like this. This was not only fun, but it was also a piece of art.Using LittleHat's idea, I came up with what I thought each piece had to deal with.It is sad, but in some ways it reminds me of real life.Still, really good song.(Song? Game and piece of art*)

Under rating threshold (show) Though I feel these explanations are very valid, I have my own. As it's clear, the story starts out black and white and ends in colour. I agree with the lifelong journey explanation (Thank you deathkknight) but I'd like to expound upon that. As time goes on, it's your quest to satisfy the girl and make her happy. Soon colour fills the world and as colour does, you fade. Now, I believe that this is because as you endeavour to make her happy, you disregard your own needs, thus shriveling away. May that be over a year or a full lifetime, that's is not clear (Though based on the items collected from a clockwise order the latter is assumed). All and all I feel like this game was beautiful and it deserves more recognition for it's deep meaning, despite the simple appearance. ∞ out of 5.
