Though I feel these explanations are very valid, I have my own.
As it's clear, the story starts out black and white and ends in colour. I agree with the lifelong journey explanation (Thank you deathkknight) but I'd like to expound upon that. As time goes on, it's your quest to satisfy the girl and make her happy. Soon colour fills the world and as colour does, you fade. Now, I believe that this is because as you endeavour to make her happy, you disregard your own needs, thus shriveling away. May that be over a year or a full lifetime, that's is not clear (Though based on the items collected from a clockwise order the latter is assumed). All and all I feel like this game was beautiful and it deserves more recognition for it's deep meaning, despite the simple appearance. ∞ out of 5.

This is a wonderful game! So artistic and sweet. But I wonder if the toys are a symbol of something? And when the girl lets go of the bird, does it mean that she's setting him free? 0.0 Lots of questions proves that this is a great story!

I think this game fits neatly into the philosophical genre. The music is beautiful, but sad, and like some of the other comments here is about stages of grieving....sad, but beautiful and a brilliant game. I wish there was more story to it, not just collecting stuff, but that probably serves to allow your imagination to pick it up.

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that the further you progress in the game the more faded the man becomes and the more of his trail he leaves when he is running?

This my own story of this game, The boy tries to get the attention of this girl, thus this is his love, but she doesn't notice, and he tries to shower her with gifts, which makes her notice more about him. but when he gives her the last present, he gives up. but when he does, she notices him, but he is gone.

This song is made by shadow6nothing9, and the name's The Terminal. http://shadow6nothing9.newgrounds.com/audio/ You can actually download his songs here, and the song is made in 2010. Don't need to thank me. ;)

I know this is 2015 and your guys comments are in 2011 but also as you give her the boys mementos you start to fade. My heart is broken </3

This game was a nice refresher from all the action, shoot-em-up, zombie games I normally play. I love the style of the game, the music and the art go great together. Amazing job kevindoesart :D.

my theory is they were in love and the boy was dealing with depression, committed suicide and then felt bad that he had left his girlfriend there. so, he did everything in his power to make her happy again.

Actually, I take that back. It's the lovechild of Endeavor and I Saw Her Standing There, with music straight out of The Sailor's Dream.

So... Commenting on this game again, huh? Well then XD Anyways, I managed to find the song with a quick google search. Its called The Terminal, and the backstory to how the song was created influences about what I think about the game. The creator of the song had mentioned that he tried thinking about a looming terminal illness that can affect you. This makes me think that the boyfriend/family member died of a terminal illness and the girl was having difficulty coming to terms with it, and he gave her the memories of the times that they had together to make her happy again.

At the beginning I was like "why should I bring this girl that stuff? It's not like she's noticing me or else, longs hairs doesn't do anything..." then I was "ok... this gives back some colours still don't see why I should giver her anything... Nice graphisms btw..." and the end left me reconsidering everything I did before which leads me to give you a solid 5 stars.

Wow what a great game. A very interesting story about a boy in love with a young girl. He gives her items that show kindness and love than slowly fades every time he hands her something. She never knows that someone she may or may not know is right there helping her be happy.

I wanted to finish the game before criticizing it and boy, it was a chore. The character moves way too slow and the jumping is so floaty that it was not fun to move around the world. This is particularly true because there is nothing going on. It's fine to have a game with no enemies or death traps, but if the gameplay is just going to be getting from point A to point B, you can't make it a hassle. Making a mistake would be a very time consuming issue as you try to climb back up. I would be interested in going around the world once color was added to see how it looks except that I can't be bothered to deal with the movement for that small payoff. I think this is the first game where I didn't explore because I didn't want to have to climb back up. (End part 1 of 2)

(Part 2 of 2) This also makes it frustrating that I can't pick up more than one object at a time. I got the balloon and thought "why not get the other low objects?" Nope, I have to go up and down several times. Ugh. You also need a longer music track. As good as it was, I was sick of it by the end after hearing it loop so much. The game had a few positives behind the dull gameplay though. I did love the music. I liked how each object added color to the world. That was the art in what otherwise looked like "yet another minimalist game". I liked how the boy started to fade out as I collected the objects. I like the story being about her letting go, and the symbolism of her releasing the dove. You have good stuff in there, but it's hiding behind an awful game.

Unfortunately the gameplay is incredibly bland, particularly next to the atmosphere (music/graphics/story-what little there is).

I see the boy either as a ghost or a sad/depressed side, that wants to cheer the girl up, but cannot interact with her, but the colors/moods that play on her emotional side.

I think that the best tag for this game would be philosophical, for as LittleHat and deathkknight said, this is a game that relates to life itself. The description and comments don't say enough. You have to play the game to fully understand it's meaning.

i think mostly the game did not make me cry, but after reading the explanations in the comments, that's were the emotions flowed.
music rocks as well

This has been the perfect game for teaching my grandpa the rudiments of using the arrow keys to move around a character. I really wish there were more games like this - bravo.
