So, I'm really, really late to this. Like, stupidly late. But, in case this is to be seen, I'd like to say that it would be an amazing game if it had the continuity of some. I just gave up quite quickly because I realised it was just a try, and if you die, then too bad, restart. A good thing to look at for an example of how to improve this would be The Enchanted Cave 2, also on Kongregate. It has "artifacts" in it, which are items you keep over the runs while others are removed at the end of a run, and you keep your levels and such from all your past runs. It's a continuity that's best summed up as "Well, you failed that time, but you get to keep this little bit of your stuff. And with this little bit, you'll get a bit further next time and get a bit more stuff to keep, and you'll do this until you succeed," instead of just "You don't keep anything. At all. Except for maybe a mental map of the area. Other than that, no."

this game has alot of potential but its poorly made as is if a more serious dev got behind this game it could be a real gem

Are you planning a sequel?? I love the combat style even though sometimes parry seemed to give me trouble. You make quality games! :)

Oh man right when I was getting more and more excited about what will happen it ended.Very short but this is one of the best platformer-RPG games.Nice work Kinto.

Neat game! It seems a little unnecessary to have the section at the beginning where you can easily die by falling in a hole and need to start back at the beginning. It probably qualifies as a minor annoyance, but it is a bit frustrating for a first-time player to have to play the intro 3 or 4 times while getting used to the jumping.

The save function is not clear and info on that should be next to the fire in the Hermit's house. I hated restarting five times or so. The intro was cool only the first three times.

Awesome! I hate the running from the shadow part (i get frustrated easily lol) had a strong feeling of castlevania mixed with metroid mixed with a little mario brothers... and as im typing this i realized i just hit the end of the game! lol a little short but this has HUGE potential and im really looking forward to the rest!!!

At first i played Bit Dungeon, then your zombie smash game and final, King Story.
And i have to say Kinto u make some good quality games, but you really dissapointed me with the ending of this game...
Atleast finish a game before putting it up.
That being said, keep up the good work.
I'd like to see more from you

When did you make this game? It seems to have been like 10 months. Please make the sequel soon, I love this game, make configurable keys setting, love the attack set-up, etc.

The game is nice, but the combat system almost ruins it for me, either allow us to have fluid movement or make the combat system not suck.

Interesting gameplay concept. The combat method is new to me (maybe to everyone, at least those who favor brain to brawn... I fail at twitch games) but a few attempts thought me how to fight and survive... if I don't fall on spikes or a pit, but that is MY flaw, not the game.
Exploring segments switching with escape/running segments was very interesting. My jumping ability seems to have gone down with age, and I HATE insta-death pits, but I still insisted and cleared this chapter.
Reversing the Space/Up controls (or giving an option to change them) seems to be a good idea, especially if the game will need faster reactions.
Nice job, and good luck with the next chapters. I believe this chapter can be merged with the next chapter to make it longer and more interesting to replay.

The floaters are very imbalanced. They stun you on each of their attacks. It's not very fun to beat them by not accidentally being in a corner (because it means you're dead even if you're on full health, since you can't attack).

Hey great game, a original way to fight, new abilities with the new itens, very good idea! but a little short gameplay (around half an hour) and low rated IMHO. Keep up the good work! congrats :)
