If you Right click on the CLick here link for the files, you can then open in a new window, and this will allow you to download the files... I had the same problem and this is how i got the files...

IF YOUR BACKGROUND DOES NOT MOVE GOTO THE LIBRARY CHOOSE YOUR BACKGROUND Rightclick->Properties and rename all"Backgrounds" to "bg" then rename also the class to :
class bg extends MovieClip
and the file name:
bg.as
hope it works

Whatever the tutorial is trying to show to me gives me nothing but gray boxes. That's why i can't get my background to loop.

I can't see what they're trying to show me. What I assume are supposed to be screenshots are just grey boxes to me. Any ideas what's wrong?

Secondly, I have issues of my own on this thing... I put the whole link to loop the bg... it doesn't work... i did everything right but that... AND i can't move my ship anymore...HELP ME!

I don't know if anyone from Kongregate monitors this string, but it would have been useful if you'd given us the size of the bg image in the tutorial.

Hey, i done everything right i think, but when i try to link the two scrolls, it wont work. I got the pixel length right, and i got everything moving, but i cannot see the second image, so it just scrolls through the picture, then appears at the end.

at step 5 when I want to test the background it says "The class or interface 'Background' could not be loaded." How can this be fixed?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
aha found it out! FINALLY! hope this answers a lot of peoples questions, do what it says in the tutorial up to the part where it tells you to put in _x -= 1;
if(_x < -2100)
{
_x = 0;
}
instead of putting in _x = 0; put in _x = 2100
now for me I did 3 copies of the background together so i don't know if it works with only 2 but it might, hope this works for everyone!

@MachoKittyKat: Put as file in the same folder as your fla. So if your fla is folder "Shootorials" then put your as (the one with the code) in the file "Shootorials". Hope that helps. :D

Hi, for those of you that couldnt get it to work put the first letter of Background (class Background extends MovieClip) in caps because is a reserved word (blue word >.>). So put "Background" *NOT* background.

This worked very nicely, only problem I had was forgetting to save my actionscript. Once i did, it worked like it was supposed to :P

Yes I got mine to work. I have tested it a million times since Im so proud. These tutorials are great for a total flash newbie like me.

Mine works fine for the most part, the only problem I'm having is that it doesn't reset to 0 until it goes past both backgrounds(then the second pic of the background disappears). I have the code set to _x<-2110 and _x=0.
