Beautiful game! It made me cry, and I am not afraid to say that. The message did come off as a little heavy-handed, but meh, it's a personal expression, what should one expect? Lovely simple little game!

The obstacles almost remind me of real life, but instead of just physical barriers, there are emotional and social ones too. Makes me kind of sad to think about those who got lost in love, even though there are so many solutions.
Yeah dude, there's obstacles absolutely everywhere - especially in your own head. Just keep persevering and try to surround yourself with amazing, loving people! ♥

I realized that the easiest way to get one person in the Love-Repository is not to think about that person, but to think about the others. I'm not sure whether or not you purposely did that or not, but I thought it was nice.

Great message, but the tone is somewhat... preachy, maybe? Simplistic? You're either preaching to the choir, in which case the message is somewhat dull and lacking in nuance, or you're trying to show people a new perspective, in which case you want to give them an actual reason to believe what you're saying. I hope you build on this to create something deeper and more powerful.

I'm not a jerk, nor do I want to seem like one. However, I think that using a game as such as a political ploy is unimaginative and inappropriate. Obviously many people will disagree with me, but those are all people who already would have disagreed with me. I can nearly guarantee that nobody changed their mind about homosexuality due to this game.
And to be clear, I do not hate homosexuals. I don't agree with it, but I am not a "hater" for lack of a better term. The game seemed like it could be somewhat interesting, but I won't finish because I am tired of everything lately being politicized. When I play a game, I simply want to find it entertaining. I don't want to feel like I'm being lectured in the process. This is an inappropriate medium by which to push views.
I don't know what's so political about it, more social than anything, but I can find absolutely no reason why games aren't a valid platform for pushing any views. If anything, they're a better platform than anything else! Check this shizz out, yo:

Overall, I enjoyed the game and respect the developer for having the guts to put out bold social commentary. The only recommendation I'd have is to keep the hearts closer together on the later levels. It can be visually disconcerting to try and watch all of them simultaneously (last level looks fine though). Makes me wish I had chamelon eyes.

Sorry, part of my first comment got torn off by kong. What I said was that I never said you can't interact with your fans. I was simply saying that the stagnation of this website stems from the fact that valid criticism simply cannot get through, for the most part. As a result, developers never really get to see it and so they are led into a false sense of security despite interacting with fans on a regular basis. As a direct result of that, they continue to release games that are, for lack of a better word, unsatisfactory. As a direct result of that, other developers attempt to meet the standard of mediocrity because fans are cool with it. Hence, the stagnation that I alluded to earlier. That really goes to show something when our best games are run-of-the-mill tower defense games.
P3: And finally, valid criticism totally gets through to Flash game devs - my first game, PRIOR, had a lot of comments that tore it to shreds and I know objectively that I'm a better dev for it (I no longer force players to replay the entire game to get an alternate ending, after all!). That said, I think I may have been a bit blunt in my earlier response to you, so sorry for that - probably I got excited and didn't proofread my comment ;) Anyway, like I said - thanks for commenting! Feel free to respond again if you want (or direct PMs might be easier, whatever). ♥

Looking at a majority of the failed Steam Greenlight submissions made by developers here (including the immensely popular, yet recently failed, submission of kupo707's Epic Battle Fantasy 4), it's hard to deny that developers do stagnate on this website. These are people who have constant contact with their fans and yet they garner no success once they choose to spread their wings. Listen...you sound like a pretty cool person with lots of potential for greatness in the future but what I am saying isn't exactly rocket science. It should be pretty plain for you to see but, if you miss it, it could very well be the death knell for your future endeavors. That's game development, in a nutshell. One day, you're the king of the internet...the next, you're at the bottom of the barrel.
P2: There are still thoughtful games too - hell, THIS game is about accepting homosexuality, very few AAA titles even broach that! Comparing Greenlight (or any other service) to Flash games is quite like apples to oranges, they're remarkably different. EBF4 was a rad game, but the Greenlight didn't offer enough new content to justify a Steam release - it was still a Flash game. Google "No Time To Explain" for a Flash game that successfully ported itself to a Greenlight release (you can and should buy it on Steam right now!).

Got your reply. No offense taken on the delayed response t interact with your fans. Never even implied that one bit. What I was implying, however, is you need to go out of your way to seek out that valid criticism even when it is buried under a unnecessary pile of negative ratings. You, of all people, should know as a developer that game development is not all sunshine and rainbows and it never has been since the invention of the very first games. Listening to constructive criticism, fixing problems and improving your product are the very foundation of a great game developer.
AGH Looks like my reply's gonna have to be in 3 parts too. P1: A mighty reply! First off, seeing you take the time to really go into this discourse is amazing, so thanks for that - Let's dig into this. First off, I really do disagree that devs stagnate on Kongregate - the fact is most Flash devs don't stay wish Flash development for long, as it's very entry level game design and devs often move to bigger and better things. Those run-of-the-mill tower defense games make a LOT of money, you can't blame devs for wanting to take advantage of that.

I love this game's message. Although I must say that "Loneliness Hole" isn't exactly the most eloquent way to describe the single "Sir" or "Madam", as someone has said that it can reflect badly on those who are asexual. So perhaps instead you can refer to it as "being/entering a state of solidarity"? o3o I really do love this game though.

thank you SO much for sharing this wonderful game with everyone! It has helped me a lot because my aunt is a lesbian and I was scared and nervous because I didn't know if that was a bad thing, or if it was okay for me to accept it as a normal thing. I mean, I love my aunt and all, and thanks to your game I now feel much better and can openly accept her for who she is and who she loves. I was crying when I neared the end because it was just so touching... I can't thank you enough!
Dude, this is just.... crazy heartwarming. There's absolutely nothing wrong with being gay or straight, I'm SO happy that this game has helped you find some peace in that realization!
