Under rating threshold (show) hmm. Its taken me untill now to figure out that it takes time for a gate to turn off as well as on... lol. Now i understand my oscillator

Under rating threshold (show) You don't need any switches to prevent feedback on the 3rd design... X only gets current if they're all on, easy enough to do, and Y gets current if any of them are on - make 4 "OR" gates in a row with VCC on one end - turns off if any of them are on. You know where to go from there. AND gate attached to VCC seems to be the best way of preventing feedback though, if you still feel you need it.

Under rating threshold (show) DIODES: you should put a AND gate (NPN) with one of the N ends plugged in VCC+ and the P gate with the Input and the other N gate with the output... Then it will conduct current when the Input is on and it will not interfere with what you put in the yellow silicon as the output doesn´t interfere with the input...

Under rating threshold (show) How to make a diode? Those transistors don't work like diodes. I'm stuck with 3rd design, I can easily make either OR or AND gate, but not them together - they interfere with each other and I don't see how to avoid that without diodes...

Under rating threshold (show) for lvl 6: 1 NPN and 1 PNP is enough to pass it. With an Extra-PNP you can even achieve 100% macth (also the graph tells you that you still have a little delay when turning it of). Way harder for me is currently the level 5 as my Delay-circut (many npn's in a row) only delay when turning power on, not off..... my pos-edges are at the right time, but the negedges come way too early....

Under rating threshold (show) I feel like my brains imploding, I can't for the life of me think of how to make an OR gate with these accursed NPN and PNP gates, and I'm suppose to be a computer science major. I'll be damned if one doesn't take for granted some of the most basic things...

Under rating threshold (show) A clue for level 6, please? I tried doing the RS Latch with the NOR configuration and it oscillated enough to give me 95%. Then I tried the alternate solution with NAND and it was even worse...

Under rating threshold (show) Also, the levels are sort of "tutorials" in and of themselves: they secretly teach you the raw basics, by making you crawl through the mud to figure them out yourself. Then you can use and build on what you've just learned in the later levels. The fact that there're levels that give absolutely NO hint and you have to grasp at the straws to invent something makes me feel like I'm actually making my own discoveries, not just mindlessly blowing through a game. IMO it's about damned time we got a game that doesn't hold you hands through every little damned thing. Coming from a stint in WoW, this is a damned refreshing feeling.

Under rating threshold (show) Hmmm. I've read up to page 4 of the comments while searching for tips, and a lot of the complaints mention how hard it is to even understand the rules of this game. While the lack of a proper hands-on tutorial makes the learning curve look like Mt. Everest, the journey up that steep, steep slope constituted half the fun. The other half is finally figuring out a puzzle after you've learned just WTF each component does and how they work together!

Under rating threshold (show) To draw P silicon, hold down shift. That changes "Silicon (N)" (#1) to "Silicon (P)". Similarly, shift will change "Delete Silicon" (#5) to "Delete Metal".

Under rating threshold (show) Kongregate chat room Echo Hall has become an unofficial meeting place to discuss this game. There are about 5 Kohc players (including me) of various knowledge levels who usually hang out there. I am the most knowledgeable and I'm best person to ask for help, when I am not available you can try mentioning Kohc in chat there. There's a good chance someone else may respond.
