The game works pretty well, but there are a few simply baffling design choices. The cargo hold being literally the Knapsack Problem is annoying... just have the game solve that one for me at the end of the day, rather than having me mess around with it for a few paltry dollars. Similarly, just sell the goods automatically. Randomly pricing goods in the marketplace is pointless, just sell them for the listed value. Having to go to the weaponsmith to reload my weapons... same deal, just do it for me, the money doesn't matter. Treasure Maps give so little gold they aren't worth it, especially with a ~50% success rate (which is about the best you can expect). When entering the boss area going south, you just smash into the wall and die, which is bad. Finally, find somebody who speaks English natively to write (or at least edit) the dialog, what's here is awkward at best.

The Batavia was not a pirateer ship, it was a ship of the Dutch East India Company (VOC). It was built in Amsterdam in 1628, and armed with 24 cast-iron cannons and a number of bronze guns. Batavia was shipwrecked on her maiden voyage, and was made famous by the subsequent mutiny and massacre that took place among the survivors. But no pirate ship. Source: wikipedia, and I'm Dutch. Cute game further though.

Great game, but the treasure hunt seems pointless since it's mostly about luck. There should be a definite way to find the treasure every time if played right...

Best way to beat the boss... upgrade all but cargo on the boat to 5, and cannonball shield and shooting gallery on weapons to 4 or 5.... and then get the ram, lvl 1 works... when you go in kill your speed just in case it puts you toward a wall. then ram the four corner dudes, kill your speed n hit em with 3 cannon balls[this should kill them... then just go in circles shooting at the boss [if you have armor 5 should be no problem just try to stay ahead of the fireballs when the heads turning and presto ur done

How do I switch to the new ship after beating the game? Starting a new file SIMPLY ERASES ALL PROGRESS, SO THE SHIP IS LOCKED AGAIN. I've played through the game twice because of that.

Man..that woman with the screwed up eye must be the worst pirate in history. Her ship breaks every 2 or 3 minutes. Is she trying to smash the treasure out of the islands or something?

Great game. Good idea, good upgrades. But there are a few things I would change; 1) Make upgrades cheaper, and vary the price of upgrades, 2) Either allow the player to buy additional ships to help them or make enemy ships hit each other with there attacks. I like the idea of having ones own armada, but just being able to outmanuver enemy ships in such a way that they destroy each other without having to fire ones would be awesome.

I found a bug. If you die next to the Kraken and have the Shooting Gallery, you will eventually kill him and recieve the achivement.

But you CAN sail downwind in reality! It's called backwinding. Basically the same as going downwind, only your bow follows your stern instead of the other way around.

To beat the Kraken EASY. Have max armor, ram, pirates, shooting galley and fireball. Enter the vortex with low speed, just in case. Then ram the 4 shooting monsters in the corner, the shooting gallery will kill them (beware of not having a high speed movement, or you'll crash in the wall). After the 4 corner monsters are dead, you'll be able to hit the Kraken. Alternate 1 Pirate shoot with 1 Fireball. He'll be dead in no time.

guys, just to hint u all, there are ships that fire oil, and ships that fire fire.. if those oil ships miss u, and the fire ships fires at those oil spills, then the oil becomes fire...

Great game, but some things needs polishing - would make more sense if other ships could not fire through each other, i.e. friendly fire turn on. Then marketplace is interesting, but i can't choose when to go back to marketplace (or i missed it). It doesnt make sense to keep goods in the cargo if price is low in marketplace, cause there won't be enough space in cargo anyway on my next FULL day. Also, losing your ship is the same as ending a day - so there is simply no reason why I would want to dodge enemy bullets - no big difference, will continue on the next day :)
Fun game, graphics are cool, but these minor things show that game needs polishing. Anyways, good job guys.

Oh yes, and make sure you take advantage of the "Like" bonuses. You don't have to actually like or follow anything to get the credit, and the bonus for all 4 is $1600 ($400/each).

The Kraken unfortunately killed any and all excitement I had while playing this game, which was extremely unfortunate considering there was quite a bit of it--loved the different enemy ship types forcing you plan your attack ahead if you're not upgraded up the keister.
Was gonna give it a 4, but, the kraken forced me to cut that in half--I'm not a fan of being forced to upgrade everything to their maximum level to stand half a chance no matter what speed, what weapons and which strat I use.
