PS: I find it bizarre that some people give the game 1/5 just because it is a demo. If the developers had not created a full version, these same people would probably give it 5/5. So you punish them for doing extra work and offering you the choice to get more of this game if you like it? Why is it a bad thing to have *more* options?

First, I'm glad you titled it with DEMO. Second, it's awesome. The dialogue is pretty funny, the play works well, things seem balanced, tutorials are good, all options, key mappings, etc are good. Maybe I missed it, but tips about hitting ESC to back out of a selection and using arrows keys to pan around big map would be nice. The length is great for a demo. Good job overall, thanks.

great game, i've played alot of td's but rarely would i opt for paying for a full version. That said, for 5 bucks it's a great buy

The difficulty is perfectly balanced, the art appealing, the music unobtrusive, the characters likable, the humor entertaining - in short, a really well-crafted game!) I particularly appreciate the effort you put into the story. Many games could learn from this, especially when it comes to Tower Defense :)

awesome game. really. but 5$ for a flash TD game, when you can just go play gemcraft is a bit like asking for a triple shot of vodka at the bar and only getting water in a glass. Also, only giving an hour of playtime, for a demo, isn't much. isn't much at all. especially for this type of game, you had as many towns, as you did fights.

I don't believe that I should have to pay for the full version of this game, when there are other games that are bigger and more complex for free. Create something that actually could be comparable to an XBLA game before you get cocky enough to charge for it.

I really don't like when people upload demos etc to a site were FREE is one of it's policies but I must say with this one; it doesn't matter :)
BUT you only get 3/5 for being a demo but you get 5/5 for the actual game

I love this game. I bought it after twenty minutes (back when it was reviewed on JIG). This isn't a crippled demo that doesn't warn that it is a demo. It's a satisfying large taster of the game and there's a discount. I've paid in kreds for bonus features for TD games before, I'd have been happy to pay here in kreds for the full version. I've had 24 hours worth of gameplay out of it so far and still playing, not to mention the expansions there's going to be. It's worth every penny.

I like it, and the story is fun, but it's still just a TD game. There are more than enough free ones around that paying for one just doesn't seem to make any sense.

I'm kind of confused... It has a "Recall: +?? Psi" (the ?? being any number), but when I click it, I don't get any Psi back at all. Am I just missing the real point of the option?

if you make the game free and it becomes game of the month, you get more money. i doubt many people will buy it. they come on this site that it says: play online FREE games!

as a Demo, i'm not sure it's worth my time. I don't buy full versions of flash games. It's well done, but I don't see the point in playing it if my experience is going to be limited.
I guess my question is why does it matter if it was made in Flash versus something else? If it's fun enough to buy it shouldn't matter what technology runs it. Of course if you don't think it's worth it, that's fine too. :)

I'm enjoying it a lot, the music, the art, the story. About this being a demo, the creator spent a lot of time to make this game, so he's free to distribute it as he wants, 5/5.

Haha, thanks! I can understand some aversion to demos on the site, which is why we tried to keep the demo long enough to stand alone as a game too. We even unlocked a few more level difficulties for the Kongregate crowd compared to our previous demo, just to avoid being super mean. (Originally the "extreme" challenges for the last few levels were locked in the demo).

I like the general idea of the game - but having just spend some days early in the week making my way through Kingdom Rush (and buying premium option), I found it hard to play with this game's much more basic graphics. I mean the battle graphics - storyline graphics were more or less ok.
Fair enough. The graphics are definitely retro, and it's not everyone's style. Also, Kingdom Rush does have exceptional art and animation - I love that game and bought it as well. :D They really nailed the classic tower defense design. Defender's Quest just tries to scratch the itch of those who want more RPG in their tower defense game.

Games decent. love the story line and the quirkyness of the characters. I don't understand why you put it up as a demo and not an actual game. You would of made more money, All in all I know I wont pay money for a flash game.
It is good though. So keep it up.
Why is buying a Flash game any different from a C++ game, or a Java game? If it's good enough to buy, then it is. If not, then not. The language and technology running it shouldn't matter. Glad you enjoyed what you played though. :)

1/5 kauz it's a demo lol. ... No seriously, it's a good game, but i won't give a note, because it's a demo. This game i fun enough, but i'm having one little problem... You say the game price is 2$, but since i'm european, it's 3.79€ - 4€. I know, i'm stupid to complain for such a little thing, but maybe the "kong coupon" doesn't seem to work ( or do it's? ) for european so i'm telling it. Just in case. Sorry to bother anyway.

Would defenitely end up 5* and in favs if it was the full game. Tough with the story cut in half its at most 3*. Also as said above im positive that the full game would get you a lot more income over time than selling it like this (this only encourages crackers)

Here's what I think, you could have a hundred or 2 people buy your game at 5 dollars... that's 500-1000 dollars. Nice. OR you could release the full game into the site, get game of the week (250 dollars i think), Game of the month, 1500 dollars, and get millions of plays. (Just to say, i've gotten like 1 thousand plays on my game and that gave me like 5 dollars. 1 million is the equivalent to like 5-10 grand.) So you could either A: keep it how it is getting 1 or 2 grand + the amount of plays u have- doubled in time (Approx 16000 plays for 80 bucks or something), OR you could release it on kong, get in excess of 20 grand in plays, keep updating it for frequent plays, and win. Your choice. :) The only reason this has 8k plays is because it says DEMO right on it.
I agree with your math on Kongregate alone - no doubt it would make more money as a full version (though there are size problems - full version is 70MB). However, we're intending to release through other distribution platforms like Desura, Impulse, and hopefully Steam. If we make the game free here, we can't sell it elsewhere. So, our hope was to provide a solid and fun demo online for Kongregate while still allowing us to sell the game through downloadable distribution channels.

I really enjoy this game, has the tactics Japanese tactics rpg feeling. Sad to see the full version website is down.
At the people who are crying about this being a demo and not full version :
Some people live by making games and selling them for god's sake, living from ad's? After few months no one will play this game and it will be to waste. Also he can't risk one time POSSIBLE payment to a many purchases that will be made, simply not worth it my friends.
5/5 + fav, Really nice game with extreme potential to be made in to a full out dvd game ( needs hella lot's of work of course )

Very good game, from what I could play. The purchase site seems down at the moment so I have no clue what the price is. Will the full game receive any non-bug related updates in the future?
Yikes - not sure what happened, but I think the site is back up. We may have to have a talking-to with our service provider. To answer your questions: current price is $6.99 before coupons. It will go up to $9.99 when we get our "gold" release out, which will add even more content to the game (new challenges, endless modes, New Game+, etc.). However, everyone gets free updates, so if you get it now you get the "gold" update for free.

In addition to my previous comment, set it up like a series of episodes. The first episode, the current demo content, is free. The rest of the episodes cost $1 each. That way, if someone likes the first episode well enough, they can pay $1 to get the next episode, play through it, decide if they want to pay for the next episode, and go on from there. That way people can choose how much of the game they want to play and how much they are willing to pay for it.

@kaka_av_norge: That is totally wrong, even good games are free! This is why everybody is complaining about LevelUpLabs, who want's money for a "good game". Even if this would be the perfect game on kong, it shouldn't cost money.

To be honest, I think this is a pretty good marketing strategy. Nobody's going to buy a 2D flash game for very much. For something fun and clearly well made, though, many would part with a few dollars. The demo to show off what your game can do, the reasonable price to seal the deal. I would already own my copy... er, if your servers weren't down. Or perhaps the link is broken...?

Awesome game, but since it costs money what else can I do but to give 1/5? Other developers share their games with the world for free and that 's how it should be on this site. I am really sad about this.

You advise that by clicking to play, we agree to the terms of the EULA. OK, so I click to read the EULA - perhaps it has something about handing over firstborn sons, you never know - and it doesn't load. Fail. I'll play something else.
Haha, well, that's not in there. We had a brief downtime this morning that included our EULA page. We actually have a pretty great EULA - it has plain-English translations in there. Our lawyer did a fantastic job with it. :) Should be up and readable now.

This game isnt bad but its not anywhere near the best of this genre either. If I could play it all through for free I would do but even at a tiny price its not worth it when there are so many superior and free games available. Either produce far better games that warrant a fee or go free and trust that those who respect developers will send you tips anyway. I'm all about extra content for kreds where a game is good enough so thats the way to make money
