Light_bringer777 has started a kickstarter project to release learn to fly 3! Strech goals include making an updated version of learn to fly 1!

"For 6000 feet: At the launch, pull up to about 18% resistance to gain additional altitude, use 2/3 of your fuel and then go to 1% resistence and burn the fuel then. With that much altitude, you can reach the water at about 5800 and then you can do it." (Thaaaaanks for who made this comment, just making this keep alive)

Progression for the hard badge: Day 1 (first jump): +17$ on 5', buy acc. 1; D2 (stay horizontal to get distance achievement): +25$ on 5' & dist. 1(+25$), buy glider 1; D3 (get max height 1 + duration 1): +49$ (=(16+22)*1.3) on 5' & max height 1 (+25$), duration 1 (+25$), buy height 3 & acc. 2; D4 (get max height 2 + duration 2): +122$(=(31+50)*1.5) & max height 2, duration 2 (+100 * 2), buy rocket 1 and air res. 3; D5: get ~100$ and speed 1 on 5', buy fuel 3; D6 (max height 3):+324$ (=(126+51)*1.8) on 20' & max height 3 (+500$), buy height 6, acc. 4, air res. 5; D7 (glider 2): ~300$ on 20' with duration 3 achievement (duration bonus ≥ 1.9), buy glider 2; D8: finish 10' with ~500$, D9: get max height 4, duration 4 and 1000$ to buy glider 3. With glider 3 bought before day 10 you can easily get the badge (I got it on day 17, day 16 is possible with this progression).

If this penguin can afford a computer and Internet service from the friggin Arctic, why the hell can he not afford everything needed to fly on day 1?

To complete it in 18 days, you have to balance between your economy, the available achievement and upgrades. You don't have to upgrade one by one, and the first time you need is the glider.
Another thing, once you're launched, you have to balance your speed and your altitude. Try to stay as horizontal as possible to keep a nice balance between speed an altitude, if speed becomes too long, lose some altitude, if altitude becomes too low, lose some speed. Your goal is to reach the water with 0 in speed and altitude so no "energy" is wasted. Alternatively you can try to go really really fast and just bounce off the water for altitude, but it's hard and it's much easier and gives much better results to just keep track of altitude/speed ratio.

wow. when you look at the differences between this and learn to fly 2, there's a lot. i've got to say, this seems sorta lame after learn to fly 2, but still a good game. 4/5
