"I'll use backstab on this black beetle to get enough xp to level up and not need to go back to the inn" Beetle shows stunned stars over it but attacks me first anyways and I die. "I did not learn backstab well; it got the jump on me!"

Unlike all of you guys, I find this one better than the second. I like the tile system a huge amount more, and really like the combat. I don't like the combat of the second, and the crafting confused me. I will admit to not playing the second long, and i will give it a better try, but this one is better.

Oh, and another stupid feature - if you get poisoned and flee back to your home base, and spend the night to heal yourself, when you enter a level you're still poisoned and losing health. It's like no one play-tested the game before release.

I came here after playing Castaway 2 thinking I'd pick up the badges and have some more fun. I really got into 2 and appreciated the effort put into that game. I'm not sure if I should be more disappointed in the original game or more impressed at the improvements made in version 2. Inventory too small, can't pause the game when you're in a level, can't equip items from your inventory until you've entered a level (this might be the most mindnumbingly stupid feature to me - why can't I view my character or my pet or my inventory while I'm in my home base???), can't see through trees, the occasional glitch of movement/position where my character won't attack the enemy who's eating me, or my pet is facing the wrong way and seems to be attacking the air over and over. So many frustrating aspects of this game to be upset over. I'm really glad 2 is so much more polished.

No auto-save and no pause option? Almost like a online match, except it's offline and you potentially lose a bunch of progress If suddenly there is a real world emergency and there are scorpions (or snakes) almost everywhere.

You should give us pet equipment! It would be really cool if i could give my pets armor so they wouldnt die so easily, there are monsters that only do two damage to me that do thirty to my pets

Great. Bugged game. In Grasslands, cant walk on any tile with a specific flower. Watching a walkthrough tells me im supposed to be able to walk right on it. Great... a couple hours wasted for nothing and an impossible badge to get. Switching browsers doesnt help incase it was some kind of cache error.

This game is Borked! Too little gold and drops for beginning mobs that have way too much life on them. and eggs that take forever to hatch.

(2/2)Most of the game is just waiting for your character to travel.This becomes especially obnoxious when you need to grind quest items. Enemies spawn all around the map so you are always walking somewhere. The drop rate for quest items obscenely low, you get to experience the effect of this in the very beginning of the game. 1 quest asks for 8 beetle shells, then another asks for 20 more beetle shells. 30 minutes of farming gave me 10 shells. You will miss many of your attacks. It feels like enemies(at the beginning of the game) have a dodge rate of about 20%, but you don't(I was seriously having some TES: Morrowind flashbacks). You have to go all the way back to town to save your game. There are more tedious things(believe it or not), but my point is: does that seem like something you want to deal with for the next 5 hours? The game is pretty long so if some of these things irk you A LOT, then you will be really salty playing this game.

(1/2)There are too many problems with this game to consider it anything other than bad. Everything in the game just screams tedious and unnecessary. You regen health....extremely slowly. It seems like 5% health/30sec. You have a pet. Sometimes it just runs in circles trying to get to an enemy. Your pets health does not regen at all. Your inventory is restrictively small, even when carrying only the most basic necessities. Loot dropped from enemies that you don't/can't pick up cannot be walked on, instead you must walk around it. You must do ALL combat with the mouse, yet you must use the keyboard to move your character? The controls just feel clunky. Overall the animation speed is REALLY SLOW.

Hero: "Hey Chief, you've got a mercenary guild there, right? Maybe you could lend me some mercs?" Chief: "Nope. We need you to go alone. Why? Don't question me, son. Listen, go bring me some beetle shells" Hero: "Do I get something? Can I join your guild?" Chief: "Of course, we'll raise the rent for every generator you reactivate. Also, we'll let you use our useless pet hatchery for free! Aaaand no, you can't join my guild. Bye!"

Wouldn't it be awesome if pets had armor? they would look so kick a** in it. Especially the Snakes, and the Scorpions!

It is good for what it is(classic graphic and features), and the whole upgrading/chasin for better pets makes it challenging.Other than the inventory being unmaneageable after a point , i find the map exits a bit too hard to reach and i give up because im too lazy to walk back to anything.I Played it a while back and one thing did improve. thumbs up for the new map system.

I really like this game yet I feel there are some problems with it..
Firstly, equipped items shouldn't take inv space, you don't carry them in a bag...Secondly is more with the map build, the trees hiding monsters and all sorts of things, sometimes the path dosn't really look like it leads to another, and this one might be just be my personal opinion but the way you move at this game got me a bit confused and annoyned at the map shape....
that being said, it is a bit of an old game and I'm sure my opinion won't change it ;w;

any game that requires you to stop useing the kybrd and find the mouse to continue gets a 1. shame too, looks great, perhaps i should buy a light for the den?

"+" if you think that there needs to be a stronger version of wild berries(or other pet healing item), that wild berries should be more common, and that pets should auto-heal.

My last playthrough, he died just as we had just got through the jungle generator. Now I'm running at every turn to keep him alive.

Quick tip: If you're being attacked by the same enemy twice, you can keep switching between them to attack faster. :)
