How to progress in Japan and New York?
Don't follow the quest. (it's bound to fail you until you restart.)
Place Burger and Ice cream side to side (it's compatible)
Don't forget the toilet, it doesn't matter if it's incompatible.
1 Level 1-2 Janitor (if possible)
1 Level 1 Technician (no one cares about him)
2-3 Level 2-3 Guard (Japan/New York has skyrocketed crimes)
Can't get enough money? Go for a bathroom break or take a nap and come back later by the time you returned you will see yourself became rich.

wow sometimes the robbers are unfair, I was about to place police then the end of day stats came up and messed me up annoying.

I don't know if anyone else has had this problem but elevators were working fine until the New York level, then they started to break constantly. Maybe it's part of the game but I didn't see an option anywhere to do anything about it and the repairmen wouldn't fix them no matter how long I left them for, so I'm assuming that it's a glitch. People would just get permanently trapped in the elevators until I destroyed the entire thing and rebuilt it. So about every two days or so in game time, I'd have to destroy every elevator, finally freeing the 40 or so trapped people and work staff, and then rebuild and upgrade it all over again. It's a pretty neat and cool game and everything! I just wanted to mention that as a possible glitch though lol
