Game is fun, difficulty is fine currently. The coins currently just gravitating directly to me does nothing but clutter the screen; add in the fact that I can lose all that cash by leaving a beaten level too fast just argues to me to remove coins from the field and directly award the cash on a kill.

Destroy 15 torpedo ships and 2 secons later my screen is full of them with no hope of evading. needs a lot of balancing work, extremely dificult to avoid and collect coins as a result way to grindy.
2/5

Two things. 1. I don't understand why accidentally running into enemies lowers my health as quickly as it does, especially on the final boss. And 2. The final boss: is there some sort of strategy to that thing or do I just fly in circles hoping that my mass of missiles kills him before his mass of missiles kills me? 5/5 because most of the game is fantastic and because the game is just so much fun to play.

@Spyro Drag, if you use missiles that explode, then you get kickback. Of course. The Shakes on your screen, are cause by missiles. If you don't want shaking, then you must not like missiles... :)

Final Boss:
For this use the knockback missiles, the secondary doesn't matter (haven't tested freeze)
When the fight begins go to the opposite side of the arena once he's out of the wall circle him CLOCKWISE the knockback missiles will destroy his bullets and minions
If you head in the opposite direction you might die.So contine this until he dies.

This game was enjoyable and addictive though, despite its name, was basically your ordinary shooter. 3.5/5. I would, however; like to compliment the creator of the game as he/she has taken on the opinions of many more people than most game creators.
You're right, Nyos is a very ordinary shooter. The game was a very different when I started making it, over time became more and more ordinary. This is actually a good thing, since early versions of the game were pretty rough. I kept the name because I think it sounds cool :)

Fantastic gameplay mechanic. Calling the shots rather than having to make them is awesome, so 5/5 because of that, and how it reminds me so much of RayHound.

I became curious of the interceptor ship, so I went on BWG (this isn't treason against Kongregate, just curiosity), dang that thing is fast! I mean FAST. Like, FAST fast. And has cool sfx.

Any hints for beating the gun platform level? I can't blow up the first one before the second one comes in, and after 20 minutes, I've beaten only the shields of 12 of them and they all kill me :(

This game deserves a higher rating and more gameplays, definitely. It's an interesting control scheme, it's easy to pick up, and it's fun to play (and watch stuff blow up.)
One thing that's unclear to me, despite all the answers: on the kinetic missiles, the response is "5 damage * hit-duration" - does this mean the amount of time the explosion radius covers the target?
As a suggestion, I'd say to reduce the kickback from the kinetic missiles a bit - it sends me careering across the screen if I get in range of the explosions. And in range I often am, since the missiles explode on impact with the baddies that are usually chasing me. I guess it's partly a risk of using the high-power missiles, but it doesn't make it any less obnoxious. ;)
Thanks! The obnoxious-ness of the kinetic missiles is meant to balance out their amazing firepower. Yes, the 5 *hit duration is exactly what you wrote.

this game as a real potential and i hope that there will be a sequel ^^
but i'm wondering : what 5x mean because i use this weapon (it's funny to be thrwn away) but i dunno if it's effective or not.

Thank you Marmph for listening to the comments of the players and i look forward to your other games this one is really fun besides what i mentioned before with the unbeatable level 10. also i have a question are the missiles meant to explode when they have not hit anything ? Like they are flying nothing hit them and they explode for no reason.

Level 10 unbeatable . I have all upgrades and everything and i can't even put a dent in one of the mother ships without it killing me in a few seconds.... Is that level broken or am i just doing something wrong? also being able tog et 20 and up combo with that level is a little bit out there i mean we already got god ships we don;t need a motherload of mini ships to.
Sounds like this is a problem many people are having. I'll try to upload another difficulty tweak.
EDIT: Level 9 has been modified a bit. Level 10 modification in the works.

Also i dont know if this is a glitch or intenial but if you lock on to a enemmy and the enemy dies before you can shoot it stays locked on but its locked on nothing

Kinetic is WAY BETTER than splitter at area damage, for killing smaller ships.
Sticky is by a huge margin the best for killing big stuff.

played yesterday had lots of fun, played today keep getting knocked into the darkness after the game stalls for a few secs
Uploaded a new version (1.1) that I think fixes the "getting thrown out of the boundaries" bug. I can't fix the stalling, because it is caused by the Kong API submitting stuff.

I kind of agree with those who suggested simply removing coins altogether and just directly awarding the money for killing enemies (at least for the small enemies, you might prefer to keep it as is for the bigger ones). There'd be less visual spam and it'd make mothership missiles a bit more noticeable, in addition to not having to slow down to collect the coins. I do really like the lock-on mechanic, I wish more of these games had that. I liked what someone suggested about playing as the big enemy ships as a reward for winning. I'm curious how the other ship functions but not curious enough to visit the sponsor's site. Thanks for encouraging us to provide you with feedback and seeing the value of criticism, by the way. I wish more people who leave comments on this site understood that. Thanks for uploading, I'll play this again.
While removing coins would reduce visual spam, I still prefer the satisfaction of physically collecting a coin. I don't think it is necessary to slow down for coins as of version 1.091.

I was knocked out of the arena and into the void a few times, but I saw in one of your replies that you think you'll have that fixed soon. That's good. My biggest gripe is with getting knocked around by my kinetic missiles' explosions. I'd hoped the kickback would only affect my enemies. And I wish my missiles would only collide with those enemies they are locked on to, because in the later levels I want to destroy the biggest enemies first but can't since most of my missiles collide with the weaker mobs. Sure, the way it is now might make it a bit more challenging but I feel it mostly just introduces tediousness: "Too many mobs for me to reach the motherships clustered in the center, now all I can do is restart."
Getting knocked around by the kinetic missiles was intentional. While they are more powerful in most situations than other missiles, they have the drawback of being incredibly volatile and potentially harmful to your own ship. It is meant to be a sort of balance mechanism.

I agree with Josh [K+] that it's a bit gitchy. When you move toward a group of enemies it can lag a bit and you'll pass straight through them. Awesome game, though, with great music. 5/5

Basically, you should use the kinetic weapon all the time - except when trying to kill motherships then use the sticky special.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Very cool concept, but needs some work. Difficulty curve is a bit steep and enemies should not impede movement. All of my deaths were caused by getting wedged between two enemies, and getting ping-ponged to death in half a second. Perhaps if the enemies took damage from collisions as well. Upgrade menu needs to be easier to access, and weapon upgrades need better descriptions, ideally some actual numbers for damage.

third thought: forgot to say that the sluggish controls seems to be the game running slow. disabling bloom fixed it. On a 2.4Ghz Quad core, I don't like that. Maybe you can optimize a bit there?
The control sluggishness seems to be a machine specific problem. One of the computers I tested the game on had that same problem despite running the rest of the game at a full 60 fps. I develop using a computer much slower than a 2.4 Ghz Quad core, and the game runs fine. I really have no idea what causes this lag. Which operating system/browser combo are you using? That info might help me fix this problem. I really am curious as to why this happens.

Nice game. difficulty at the end is a bit high, at least on the mothership level with full upgrades. Problem is that you have to get near the enemies to see and lock on and the you sometimes get stuck on an enemy - you just lost 1/3 of your life.
This being stuck may also just be the controls being a bit sluggish.
Ideas for improvement:
- more info on what the ammo does (normal seems to be pointless, sticky too, both seem to do equal damage with lightning wich does damage faster)
- kinetic is nice, but tends to shoot you around the battlefield uncontrollable, especially with full upgrades
- direct access to upgrades inbetween battles, 6 clicks is to much
- earning gold is easy, picking it up (esp. without getting hit in the process) is hard, especially in the later levels when you constantly have to dodge and can't slow down.

Nice improvement in reducing the number required on level 2, however I'd rather have the higher number, the health increase on the torpedo ships is still high, coins should stick around longer still far too hard to get them.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
for the secret, could you add the option to be smaller + a little faster, but have less health? like the intercepter option? it is just WAY too big. everyone vote up so the developer can see, but then vote down (ONLY IF/WHEN IT IS ADDED). thank you!
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
How many fricking hits does it take to destroy one of those torpedo ships takes, forever and they spawn like rabbits and the matter is complacated by ships from the previous level being faster then lightning. tempted to take it down to 1/5 but will give time for the developer to fix.

Alright game. At first it looked fun, but then I became disappointed. When I used the arrows keys to move, if felt a bit too sensitive, meaning that one small push sent you a considerate distance. Another thing is that i didn't like was the difficulty spikes. On the tutorial it was nice and easy and all you had to do was lock on, but then on the first level I had super-speedy kamikaze drones coming at me, and I died, and when i killed some of the drones, the coins they dropped would go outside of the arena. Other then that the game was alright. 4/5. P.S: Also, why did you make it so that for some of the content you have to play on that certai site. That kind ruins the quality and brings it down from 4/5 to 3/5.
