You are being way to agressive in the replies to comments pointing out you took too much inspiration from Zelda. Just man up and admit it. You even do admit it in the Description so why the hostility? Else, a nice game. 3/5 could use some polish.

This was good, but imo a few things could have been different. First off, I agree with others that there needs to be more variety in combat with more magic-y things and w/e, esp. seeing as even alternating between melee/range here is a pain in the butt. I def. could have also used slightly more explanation as far as certain stats/abilities. For ex, luck says that it increases "item drops"...what items? Just the kind that drop from enemies? The kind you find when cutting bushes? But the two that really confused me were the two "critical" abilities for the bow and otherwise...the 'berserker hit' one next to axe mastery says "sometimes you make critical hits"...it doesn't address whether that's for just axes or for every weapon, and either way, no matter what weapon I used, I never saw a critical hit, even with level 9 critical hit. The exact same applies to the bow. I never saw a critical, regardless of the critical skill. What exactly are they supposed to do? Are they bugged?

So much backtracking for such a linear game, and it's not always clear where you're supposed to be headed next. More than once I was out of main quests and there was nowhere obvious to go. The worst was after getting swim. You should indicate that the player is supposed to go way back to the northern checkpoint and swim west from there. Also, the teleportation gimmick at the end to make the player do the same cave twice was stupid and pointless. People, in the last cave, DO NOT TAKE THE LEFT SIDE STAIRS, THEY TAKE YOU BACK TO THE ENTRANCE! But you can bypass the "kill 20 red slimes" quest if you just swim around that island. The maze is crap, the game could do without it. Remove the poison mechanic (it's crap) and balance the monster HP. The map is way too small to see anything worthwhile, and the layout is totally unnatural. If you give the player the ability to swim, let them swim for F's sake! The book mechanic is pure player hate.

If you cleared the ghouls in the cave under the labyrinth and thought the quest reward of a 15-30 axe was an upgrade, I pity the hours it took you to kill even one of those monsters.

I feel that the game has some good concepts, but the execution is a bit sloppy. There's just a bunch of little details that hurt it for me. The sword swing hitting enemies to a side inconsistent with orientation, the lack of any kind of damage timer, the behavior of poison, and the way the graphics feel like more than a homage to zelda, to name a few problems, really sucked out my enjoyment of the game. I got bored and quit at around the time that I got stuck in a room where there were snakes below and to the right of me, where the sword can never hit, and I couldn't hit them back fast enough to prevent them from knocking me back into the stairs, resetting their health. It seems like there's a large and potentially enjoyable game, but the core gameplay needs a lot of polish.

it feels like the game isnt finished there are sooooo many dead ends that could be used for chests with a small amount of money/samll items

1 thing wrong (In my opinion anyways) is the character moves just a little too slow. Other than that I loved the game :) 4.5/5

Is there a way to zoom in on the map so you can tell where the shops etc. actually are? If not, you should add that. Otherwise, thanks for the fun! :-)

Now for the game! Yes, the music can be somewhat painful, but the creator had the foresight to add a volume control (Thanks!) The graphics aren't amazing, but they aren't horrible either. I grew up playing games with worse graphics after all, so I'm not that hard to please. The fact that you created an action/RPG hybrid out of a Zelda-esque game however is a neat idea, and leaves me wishing Nintendo would've done that long ago. I can already hear some people pointing out Zelda II, yeah yeah..It's not the same thing though kiddies, completely different battle set up. I haven't played very far, but I'm hoping the quests will become a little less generic (and off the wall in some cases.) Overall, I'd say 4/5.
Kain.
(P.S. You should rename the main screen's "New Game" button to say "Play", it can confuse the less intelligent of our species.)
(P.P.S. Blasted text limit..)

Metisma, I had thought to gently correct your way of thinking, but instead I'll be blunt. No invincibility frames!? WHAT HAS THE WORLD COME TO!? Let's be realistic kiddo, if you're getting the tar stomped out of you by someone, you don't flash and become invincible for a few seconds. An intelligent person DOES avoid fighting large groups unless they have a death wish. And yes, the creator did take sprites, and portraits, and blah blah blah..Do you realize how much whining you're doing? Probably not..Do yourself a favor, go play Contra for the Nintendo THEN come talk to me about difficult.

How do i use the pushing manual now that i acquired it? I select it from my inventory, but the Use/Equip button is greyed out.

Enemies need to not take a million hits to die. three or four tops. Need more variety in enemy behavior. Flow was very linear.
Other than that though, I enjoyed the game.

Is it normal that if you equip one enchant arrow with a melee weapon it enchant your weapon and do not use the arrow ?

I totally read the last line in the instructions as "You can change the controls anytime in the octopus menu" and now I am disappointed.

There are numerous issues I had with the game; the really bland music, horrible AI, terrible dungeon design, but there are two that really stand out.
The first is, obviously, the graphics. It's one thing to create a Zelda clone with these types of mechanics, but it's really something else to take all the sprites from Link's Awakening/Oracle games and only give them slight edits. You even used the head portraits from RPG Maker for the NPC portraits, which strikes me as very lazy.
The second is the combat system. The fact that there are no invincibility frames for when you get hit is insane, and from the way the vitality system is set up, I'm assuming this is intentional. This is not good game design; all this does is add fake difficulty by forcing you to avoid large group encounters.
To be honest, I'm actually sort of appalled at the quality of this game...it's completely generic, and I'm actually stunned by you guys asking for donations for the next entry.

Nice game, but a few point: Don't give quest that you can'T complete until way later on (EG: The uncarried message from the ghouls). Second: If you are going to make a poison weapon that cost that much....don'T make it do only 2 dmg of poison!!! Make it 5, or 10. Ennemies do 8 poison dmg to me each time i catch it, but mine? Meh, 2 dmg, and my weapon inflict 40 dmg. Wtf? Second, poison! It shoudl vanish over time, because you just gained a level and you are far from a teleport, BAM you die from poison, even at full health. Annoying. Retro graphic are awesome....For all these points above, i give a 3/5. Very balanced game!

pretty fun game. I reached the last dungeon, but there was no end at all. got to say even if i didnt mind much about the story.. i would've appreciated some kind of final end scene.... that sucked.

Needs invincibility frames. Srsly. If you get caught out of position or are trying to move too fast for the controls and enemies can close with you in melee, you take far, far too much damage.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
That poison is absolutely brutal! If you save while poisoned and you die, you come back with the poison still on. It needs a damage limit on it.
Also needs NPCs or something that tell you where to go... cause I'm lost :D The map really isn't helpful at all.
check the skill upgrade list (sword, money, experience, etc), the previously darkened skill will now be available to upgrade. this tripped me up too :)

Darkasus, as you go clockwise from starting, the last screen hit while traveling east goes south. It's hard to see first time playing so maybe Dev, you can add a little noob sign pointing south for us easily lost.

So you took a classic game- literally took, I recognize those Link's Awakening sprites- and attached a cheap MMORPG mechanics system, including inane sidequests and a leveling system that made virtually no gameplay difference. The only thing good I have to say about this is "At least it's not a Skinner Box."

It's a great game all around. It reminds me of older games, which I like. There are a couple improvements that could be made, and probably will be in the next one. No game is perfect, but some, like this, do a good job getting close. 9.5/10. Can't wait for the next part.
