By way of (hopefully) constructive criticism, I would recommend that you de-power the Cluster Bomb a little - once you upgrade it 3 or 4 times it really takes most of the challenge of the game. To offset that, I wonder if you could increase the clipping a little? I've always found one of the most fun elements of games like this to be dodging hostile fire. Now maybe I'm just not skilled enough at this particular game, but it seemed that any attempts at slipping between the enemy's bullets always resulted in my ship getting damaged. If you could make dodging more possible, I think it would really improve the game.
Anyway - great game! I enjoyed it pretty thoroughly - especially the 'notebook' style animation. Very cool!

Reminds me a lot of our old shooter favorite "Upgrade Complete" :) Good job, original art, and classic gameplay. Well done 5/5

Too much grindwork. Having to hit 20 times a regular enemy (not a boss) with a fully upgraded weapon is wrong. It doesn't give me the feeling of destructive elation I look for in a top-down shooter.
Upgrade costs force you to replay past levels, being in it only for the money. Not fun.
I don't think there is much difference between different weapons, though I did not check damage per second to judge correctly.
Also, the heli being the most strong and fast aircraft is far from realistical.
Apart from this less-than-tight mechanics the graphic is quite nice.

I love the artwork in this game. It kinda makes it seem... would "original" or "authentic" be the right word? Maybe both. XD I can't explain why I keep coming back to this one, but since I do, I think it's a good thing. 5/5 :D Make more games like this! I love unique art styles!

In case you like concrete explanations for why people prefer the Frag vs the H-Bomb: Fully maxed, the Frag does 38 damage, from 20 frags, with a delay of 20 for max dps:15,200 The maxed HBOMB does 450 dmg, once, with delay 50 for ~22,500 max dps.
The thing about the HBomb is you have to hit very close to the target. Might be good for the center weapon on boss levels. Three fully upgraded frags clear the screen without you having to move much at all: just collect stars.

I bought laser first because at first glance, its speed VS damage looked promising. It went great at the beginning. I kept upgrading it and got a bit disappointed later on. At one point it became so frustrating trying to take down those white space shuttle things I just started ramming into them out of rage, too bad that does not give me any money... So then I said F it and bought the H bomb. Needless to say I went straight back to laser, and after a few levels of monitor-punching I

lol for killing the boss on level 7 i was expecting some awesome huge load of treasure and then it drops like 5 cons lol.

I've cleared the last stage whitout playing!!!! I've let my helicopter shooting to get some money and went away, when i came back the game was DONE!!

Nice game, bit sketchy on the graphics. ;)
One problem though: at one point the game froze for a while and when it came back to life it got stuck in a loop saying "You win". I'd hate to kill it, because it is quite motivational, but there isn't much to play anymore.

Cute, but turns into a massive pain-in-the-rear grind towards the end. I'm quitting on level 12 because it feels like work, and also because I wasted all that money trying to upgrade the H-bomb into a useful weapon, which doesn't seem to be possible.

How many times are we expected to play through all these levels just to get strong enough weapons for Level 15? I mean, it's a fun game, but this is killing me.

Why did you give enemies so much firepower if you can only get hit by one bullet at a time?
And the amount of bullets they shoot is crazy
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Ha! Brilliant. Beat the final boss with 15 HP remaining. The fight wasn't difficult, but the fact that it took 15 freaking minutes to kill it meant that I kept getting hit accidentally due to the sheer tedium of it.
Anyway, nice game - my only criticism is that it's quite possible to beat it, with 4 stars on each level without having weapons that are capable of killing most of the enemies in the later stages... and with no kills, there is no money so you kinda get stuck just being able to kill a few enemies and the ones that drop stars. It would have been more fun if the enemies had less armour and more dangerous weaponry IMO.

If you want some cheap firepower, just go with plasma bullet and up them. You're just a little weaker, but it's a lot cheaper: I beat the game with it :)

Helicopter + Frag Bombs = Instant win. You get stars by blowing up bunkers/turrets/tanks during the level. I definitely support the idea that the H Bomb should be greatly improved. Also, it'd be nice if you made it so you could upgrade your "spacebar" bombs in the Shop. Once you get past level 6 or 7, the bombs are basically worthless because they do so little damage.

My constructive criticism: It would be nice if stars were like mini achievements because it can get boring just getting them from blowing up ground vehicles. Also another problem I found was the planes might be a bit too big, either that or they should be able to go partially off screen to dodge boss fire. The shop menu was a bit cluttery and it should auto equip new ships, because I thought I had but soon died... a lot. Other then that, really good, and I love the auto fire feature for me on my lappy. Thanks :D

One of the first upgrades you should go for is the extra weapon slots - once you get them you need to realize that you can put the SAME weapon in each of the 3 weapon slots - this allows you to just use one weapon and upgrade only it. What I did, having played it once before, was just go straight for the extra weapon slots first, keep the first bullet you get (I upgraded it's damage I think twice, and speed once) then GET THE SONIC WEAPON NEXT - 3 of those is MASSIVE damage, and spread, because of the way it's shaped. Doing that will allow you to rock it, get an upgraded ship, and then yes, like everyone else said, cluster bombs next - they are pretty much unfair. :) Fun game!

The enemies have too much HP. I have too much HP. Their shots do very little damage. I do very little damage. My ship's hit box is too big to dodge efficiently. It has become a game of floating your ship under an enemy for 10 secs for one kill... I just want to enjoy the fun of killing thousands of them with an overpowered weapon and the ability to dodge. Who else agrees?

A notebook that has animation, coding, and even a camera for viewing on some wierd gaming website? Where is this notebook and does it do chores as well? :O

Pretty ridiculous .. I've upgraded my laser quite a bit yet i cant kill high level enemies even when i follow them the entire screen..
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Intriguingly, the Ale-Nobookpaper triad's strongest mass produced ships, despite being able to be hit by 100s of sonic blasts, only shoot the most basic weapons and cannot fire in anything but a straight line. Also, many lower class planes can fire super lasers AND aim very well, some can even take plenty of hits.

wowww... when you've up to 16 frags per bomb, and the best ship, you can beat level 14 without any piloting! Daym, that's what upgrading is aaalll about. Mwa-ha-ha-ha-haaaaa! Your puny alien ships cannot harm meeeeee!

What little documentation exists needs proofreading.
No documentation on upgrade or weapon effectiveness, craft usage, how to get stars ... oh, never mind.
Rule #1 of game design has been forgotten here: think of the user experience. Making me discover the game facilities through grinding is not my idea of fun. Making the BotD depend on hidden-agenda badges is simply uncouth. There are plenty of other game designs that treat me as a valued participant. I don't see any particular value in continuing this. The jakey art work is cute, but loses its appeal when the game controls lag or fail, or when combat effects do something unexpected faster than the eye can follow.

It should automatically equip the items you just bought. I lost count of how many times I bought a new ship or weapon and left the shop screen without first equipping my stuff, then having to suicide to go back and do it.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
everything's bad 'bout the H-Bomb. It honestly is the worst weapon ingame, DONT even consider buying it! As it was mentioned earlier, the game is quite unbalanced, but still funny.
