Best way to get money if you're lazy is just start a level, wait till the screen is decently filled up and then use your bomb, once you're out of bombs suicide and repeat.

The hand-drawn style of the game is fun but the actual gameplay can be a bit annoying. The shop especially is confusing to use and you can easily find yourself wasting money if you are not paying attention. It would be nice to have something pointing out to beginners that you need to equip new purchases using the relevant button as a lot of games automatically make the new purchase the selected weapon. Even more annoying is the way the shop defaults to the most basic weapon, rather than the ones you were last using - it's extremely easy to accidentally waste thousands of $ on bullet upgrades you're not going to use, which means even more grinding to save up for the upgrade you actually want and the game is grindy enough as it is.

Frags are the only weapon worth using/upgrading. I wish there was some kind of synergy or reason to use different weapon types together.

For those asking: the ground units have the stars in them (the bunkers, tanks, trees/ents that shoot at you, etc). So blow up those tough ground units and they will leave the stars for the level.

Well, after closely observing the shooting patterns of the final boss I came to the concluson that he does not actually want to kill you... If you just stay still, maybe 1 out of 20 grey bullets will hit you. I think he just threatens you and is secretly trying to escape...

I liked the oldish looking artwork. Also I found it funny that the 1st games boss was harder than the 2nd games boss. but I guess that how it goes when you can shoot stuff off of bosses. Keep up the good work.

You can use the Bomb with Spacebar even when the game is paused. Dont know if this helps or not, but thought it was worth mentioning.

checked the comments to see if anyone else had any problems and saw everyone suggest frag bombs. I tried em, at first they seemed "pretty good". But once I upgraded them about 3-4 times I saw just how ridiculously ultra-powerful these things really are... frag bombs, the REAL ultimate weapon of this game.

@ ZemTheManiac: If you think the hit box is over-sized, then you haven't played for long enough to get the Helicopter! It makes the game so easy, you can, like, crash into all enemies in level 14, 13 ,12 and every other level exept those with bosses, and still survive.

As everybody is saying don't bother with anything but fragmentation bombs. Men they are so good, I got the to dmg lvl 6 and speed lvl 3. I passed the final boss without moving. Literally.

Save money and upgrade frag bomb's damage, it's the only weapon that upgrades well, and of course, becomes most powerful.

For anyone complaining about the last boss, just line up your ship right inside the little "mouth" on the boss, and try to keep it there. You should have the Heli, and thatll give you enough hps to survive the shots instead of dodging. But if you line up here, your frag bombs (which you should be using since they are the only worthwhile thing) will detonate completely inside the boss, and hit him with every frag. It still takes far longer than anything else in the game, but its not quite as bad as you are all making it.

If you have difficulty defeating the last boss in Level 15, I suggest your helicopter should be right backward of the screen. (between ’e’ of ”Autofire” and the leftmost star)
You SELDOM get any damage from the boss!!
Try this ^^

Enemies resemble moving obstacles more than planes when you can't shoot them down even when firing constantly. This was frustrating. I finished the game and still I have to watch as whole squadrons of planes just pass me by, unconcerned about my attacks. Not going to grind just to take those down.
Shopping interface is awkward and makes you waste money by selecting the first weapon instead of yours. There is no ending screen either. All in all I wasn't too thrilled.

Great shooter. Great look, decent music and sound effects, nice upgrade system, nice challenge, awards system and Kong API. Who could ask for more. Please keep this sketch style coming to us players with a plethora of more games.

By way of (hopefully) constructive criticism, I would recommend that you de-power the Cluster Bomb a little - once you upgrade it 3 or 4 times it really takes most of the challenge of the game. To offset that, I wonder if you could increase the clipping a little? I've always found one of the most fun elements of games like this to be dodging hostile fire. Now maybe I'm just not skilled enough at this particular game, but it seemed that any attempts at slipping between the enemy's bullets always resulted in my ship getting damaged. If you could make dodging more possible, I think it would really improve the game.
Anyway - great game! I enjoyed it pretty thoroughly - especially the 'notebook' style animation. Very cool!

Reminds me a lot of our old shooter favorite "Upgrade Complete" :) Good job, original art, and classic gameplay. Well done 5/5

Too much grindwork. Having to hit 20 times a regular enemy (not a boss) with a fully upgraded weapon is wrong. It doesn't give me the feeling of destructive elation I look for in a top-down shooter.
Upgrade costs force you to replay past levels, being in it only for the money. Not fun.
I don't think there is much difference between different weapons, though I did not check damage per second to judge correctly.
Also, the heli being the most strong and fast aircraft is far from realistical.
Apart from this less-than-tight mechanics the graphic is quite nice.

I love the artwork in this game. It kinda makes it seem... would "original" or "authentic" be the right word? Maybe both. XD I can't explain why I keep coming back to this one, but since I do, I think it's a good thing. 5/5 :D Make more games like this! I love unique art styles!

In case you like concrete explanations for why people prefer the Frag vs the H-Bomb: Fully maxed, the Frag does 38 damage, from 20 frags, with a delay of 20 for max dps:15,200 The maxed HBOMB does 450 dmg, once, with delay 50 for ~22,500 max dps.
The thing about the HBomb is you have to hit very close to the target. Might be good for the center weapon on boss levels. Three fully upgraded frags clear the screen without you having to move much at all: just collect stars.
