I like developers that take the time to respond to most of the comments. Epic game, 5/5, but other than that just what all the other comments say.

A lot of people complain about going slow when you touch a wall, but you can actually use that to your advantage to fall at a slower pace and time your landings better on some of the later levels, so I didn't mind. I really like the entire premise of this game - a choose-your-own-adventure platformer? That's basically combining my two favorite genres. Love it, love the game, hope you make more!
I think, given the apparent popularity, when I find some time to get back to working on projects I'll look at doing a refined, longer and hopefully as engaging 'sequel' :) Thanks for taking the time to comment :)

The vertical speed in this game is the most frustrating I've ever had to deal with. If you run into a wall while falling, you go at a snails pace. I got so frustrated trying to beat the platforming portions of the level because jumping felt so bad.
It's a lovely game, but it just felt awful to play. Maybe that was just me =/
It will be the thing I spend the most time refnining if I make another game like this for sure. Thank you for taking the time to provide constructive feedback, sorry it felt overly clunky for you!

This game is great. the only thing I dont like is how when you touch a wall, you go very slow. The game is great though, so 5/5.

This game is beautiful and so relaxing! The music and art is gorgeous - this is a brilliant game!
My only qualm would be that after giving the flower to the dryad, nothing happened :P
(unless there is a bug... Which is a distinct possibility, I will admit) then giving the flower to the dryad has an effect toward the end :) I'm glad you enjoyed it, thanks for taking the time to comment :)
The very first thing you are asked is what controls you would like, and arrow keys are an option.
Was there a problem with this, or was it broken? I don't quite understand why you think there are no arrow keys? However, this might be affecting others as well - so if you can let me know, that'd be great.

Oh hai queen. You will not stay. And I will not stay. Only you will not stay. Ok maybe WE will not stay. Wait wait........You will not stay and I will not stay. I mean uhhhhhhhhh.........You will not stay and I will stay! YES I WILL NOT STAY AND YOU WILL STAY!............nevermind
I like to respond when I find the time :)
I made a very big mistake offering only one style of controls when it was first released. However, I listened, and since then it's possible to configure the controls. I hope anyone who couldn't get on with the game because of the controls will take the time to try again with the configuration they prefer :)

This is a game I can play over and over again, feeling the same emotions wash over me. The feeling of happiness that William helped, the feeling of sadness since William is gone, and the feeling of relief that wherever he was, William only cared about me. This game is a story for the ages.

Very good game. This is partly just because of the music, but gameplay is also great. The music gives it such a great feel. And I like the story too.
Hey there, I'm afraid I'm probably not going to be able to make it load any quicker as my technical skills are very limited... though improving, and feedback is always welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed it despite the problems, however; sorry about that. :)

Lovely game! I do not know how to say this, but this game seems so peaceful... No, that's no the word... GAH, really really great and peaceful I mean XD I do not know if a word exists for it. So anyway, you know very few game-makers actually respond to basically ALL of the comments! It is really great to know that a game-maker is actually reading feedback ;) the game is so awesome. One day I really hope you make more games like this. Usually people don't have this type of talent, but these are my favourite type of game. There should be a certain tag for these, only what the heck would it be called? XP So I have so many things to praise about and nothing to point out bad, but I forgot, I'm so sorry :P Greeeeeeaaaaaaattttttt!! Loved it! and everything... <3 if only there was a 100,000,000/5...
Wow! Thank you! It's always lovely to read something so overwhelmingly positive on a Saturday afternoon :)
I'm currently working on some very different projects at the moment, but I do intend to make more Text Adventures in the future and I'll give you (and the others who are asking for them) a shout when I do :)
Thank you for taking the time to comment!

Great game 4/5 although it was short I replayed it to find all the endings with the mother and father difference, dryad :D I also love how when I look at the comments above/below this you responded to each one xD the walls that make you sticka little do get a bit annoying, but its great how it is a "choose youre own adventure"
I'm glad you enjoyed it! :) It's nice to hear that you played through for all the different endings; I hope you found it rewarding. Thanks for playing! :)

Awesome game! it is both deep for those who think deeply about it, and simple for those who just play it as a game. Mimicwing, I didn't notice a problem with the controls, or the collision detection, and even if I did, this game is awesome in every way. In fact, even though I know what's going to happen next, i'm still willing to play through it, for the reasons i mentioned. As for Tom, he did an amazing job helping to give the feel of your game, which is not an easy task, and Sean helped you to get that last bit of play data before it went public, which helped make this game what it is. Thank you all, for all you have done!
Thank you very much :) I'm glad the technical issues didn't hinder your enjoyment of the game, and I shall pass your comments onto Tom & Sean - they'll be very happy to hear it I'm sure! :)
I appreciate the sentiment :) As others have noted though, the controls are fairly clunky - and it's very short - so I'm not expecting wonders on the rating front. Still, the ratings & total plays climb up a litle every day, which is a pleasant surprise! :) So, thank you for taking the time to play and comment :)

i really really liked it, though i think that with something that you choose at the very beginning of the story, should make more of a difference than changing two words. where ______ told you the fairy tail, and ______ was chained up and stroked like a pet. That would have made my going through it with both scenarios more rewarding.
I'd have liked to do a lot more with it too! In fact, most of the choices I'd have liked to do a little more with. I'm working on something very different at the moment, but I do have another choose-your-own game lined up, and I can promise lots of intertwining & big consequence choices, so stay tuned! Thank you for playing :)

I like the concept, however I didn't enjoy the game play. I know part of that is I'm not a big fan of platformers, so take that with a grain of salt. However, as a half-in/half-out kind of person with platformers, one of the things that turns me off is when it FEELS like nearly every jump needs to be perfect, or close to it. In this case, the height that William jumps up near the end of any given level always felt like if I didn't get it right I'd get hit by red.
tl;dr I think you turn off casual platformers when the tolerances are too tight. Just my two cents.
After all that is said, keep up the experimentation. It's great to see a developer actively talking to the players!
From feedback I've had (mostly outside Kongregate actually) - the platforming is a little too harsh, so you're right there. Though, as pointed out in a comment above (and elsewhere) - the collision detection & general controls are fairly stiff and actually quite annoying - I'll be the first to agree with that - so that probably makes the whole ordeal a lot harder than it should be. Still, that's not an excuse: but it's good to see that feedback is generally echoing eachother so I know what to work on when I do a platformer again. Thank you for playing and taking the time to comment! :)
I agree, actually. I tinkered with the idea of being able to say "I will stay." and being trapped forever, or william having lives like a traditional platformer but felt overall both of those options were a little cheap; frustrated at not being able to come up with a better solution I left it with a Sad vs Happy ending. That said, I shall be doing an extended version of this in the future - and a lose scenario (or two) will be a definite inclusion. Thank you for playing and providing feedback :)

You have great potential as a game maker. Keep it up. I'd love to see more from you. Most games here are silly, and utterly pointless. But, there are a select few that have true meaning. Some that have real storylines. I'd say that this game is one of those choice few.
Thank you very much, that means a lot to me. :) My next game leans more towards the silly-side of the flash game spectrum, but there shall be many more games - and many more like this - to come! :)
I'm glad you enjoyed it, thank you for playing :) And, as a writer, It's good to hear it was strong enough to evoke such an emotional response. I feel I shall have to make a much funnier game next time to cheer people up! :)

I love it. It's quite hard (maybe 'cause I'm just bad at it >.>), but I enjoyed it no matter how much time a level took to finish. I'm just sad it isn't longer... :( Well, good games always seem too short. ;)
Thank you for playing, I'm glad you enjoyed it! I'm working on something different right now, but I'd like to come back and make something like this - but longer - in the future; so stay tuned! :)

Why is it constantly printing LastLine to the console? Also, I'm getting only about 13 FPS on OS X 10.5.8 with Chrome 15.0.874.106
Ah, thanks for catching that - it's something left over from testing that I forgot to remove. Will publish an update in the next day or so with that, and some other issues, fixed. Might help the lag as well. Thanks again

The controls are much better now. I really like the visual style. The music was good but it got a bit repetitious. Thanks for making this -- I look forward to your next game.
