Sector 3 boss fight, the dialogue with stavros should be skippable. The mission is really hard, and having to wait for that over and over is too damn annoying :\

Correction: it isn't one-shotting, but still does heavy damage for something that you can miss seeing among the harmless background asteroids.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
The asteroid field levels have the problem that there're background asteroids that won't do anything to you and foreground ones that'll hurt you if you hit them, and it's not always the easiest thing telling them apart. Not only that, the larger ones can apparently one-shot you. So it's possible to die suddenly in those levels.

I sided with the girl. I "refused my final mission" by quitting the game. Not cool throwing her under the bus like that, I liked her. And I wanted to punch Quaid in his ugly face. Not cool taking her out and making me work for him, I refused to do it. I won't be finishing this game now, and I look forward to the idea of Quaid getting blown to hell without me.

You need hover jets on to hover in space?? Well thats news to me, jets shouldn't be on all the time, should only show when pressing a directional key. because there is no air resistance in space... or gravity.

I really enjoyed this game. It was well-designed, although a few wrinkles exist. I think the series has good promise. Even the story is noteworthy (albeit a little cliche).

Great game - very well polished. With the cutscenes, art, and English (Usually for a game of this quality, I'd expect Japanese origin and poor grammar.), but especially with the level replay value, which keeps the plot consistent. I don't mind the clicking - it's really not that much of a bother. However, upgrades should include weapon cooling and a "magnet" for the crystals. Also, I find myself accidentally pressing "z" a lot, and thus screwing myself over for the rest of the mission. As a side note, that laser level is too damn hard. And when I have to retry it time and time again, I'd prefer not having to bear with the dialogue.

The overheating isn't that annoying, but there should be an upgrade to reduce it somewhat. I'm more annoyed by the fact that the levels/bosses don't give you huge amounts of crystals - so if you want to upgrade your ship you have to replay the old minefield level a bunch. That is not fun.
Too many upgrades are a mixed bag - like firing off a bunch of missiles at once without increasing your capacity. Why would you even bother getting the final launcher upgrade? So you can run out of ammo twice as fast? No thanks.
It is a fun game, but it seriously needed to be beta tested by some experienced gamers. It would've had a much higher rating and made more money if you'd done that.

Contrary to popular opinion, I liked the keyboard only controls, which gave it a pretty retro feel to it; I liked the difficulty level, which was actually pretty tough at times, and I liked the weapon cooldown system as a means to stop simply spamming shots at everything, I actually had to tactically use my missiles for the heavy situations. The fact you can freely change your build is another, frequently overlooked, perk. I also liked the plot - though it was a little predictable, the art was nice and it felt pretty decently polished. This all said, I do agree that upgrades need to incorporate a tractor beam for crystals, a coolant upgrade would be nice, and other weapon systems that weren't just ammo-based power ups are areas to improve on in the sequel, which I'm looking forward to.

enemy shields are nearly invincible, enemy ships can phase through asteroids you can't. these are 2 game mechanics that detract heavily from game play. 3/5 overall
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Great game, but 3/5
- Quite stupid story and waste much of time on it, spend more time for story to shoot the ships.
- Too less enemy on game
- Unbalance on earning crystal

Pretty fun except for two things: the text sound is fairly annoying, and the dialog; some times you just don't want to click 10x through a screen. So: 1) Way to mute the dialog sound fx' and/or 2) 'Turn off RP mode (no dialog at all)'.

Let us skip the big long conversation for Boss #3... I'm tired of sitting through it, and wrote this comment while waiting for it the third time. :-)

Don't give in to whining about overheating - this is what makes this game different, and overall good. Still, needs sound control.

Two things that would improve the game play dramatically: 1. As Omnivar stated a coolant upgrade for shooting 2. A 'vacuum' device to suck in the crystals (hard to collect them while shooting/avoiding enemies)

Overheating weapons in a schmup is a terrible idea. Especially one that's of the "spam the screen with enemies" variety. Especially terrible because you have no alternative weapons. So 90% of the screen is filled with swarming enemies and you can't shoot for 5 seconds. Seriously - terrible, terrible idea.
Otherwise, good.

Moving DOWN and RIGHT at the same time doesn't work. Moving diagonally in any other direction does work however. Please fix this. Also, seconding what omnivar said about adding a coolant upgrade. It's definitely needed, not sure why he was voted down for that...
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Well, I'm pretty sure we all saw that one coming. Good game, waiting for the second one. Maybe next time make the bad guy not so obvious? Also is it just me or do all imperial officers carry the idiot ball?

Do something about the movement controls rejecting my authority and this is a keeper. Also, I would sugest the missile button to be v instead of x.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
When you enter the level you need to reselect the screen with the mouse to control the craft, if you forget then damage is done before you even start.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Good game but you need to put in a coolant upgrade or something, by the time I had level 4 or 5 blasters (about the third level) I was spending so much time on cooldown that I couldn't actually fire enough shots to kill the enemy with any reliability.

Do the first level 2-3 times since it gives way more $$$ than the next few levels. That will get the ship in decent fighting shape and then you can go dominate.
