i really like the idea, but since i am not very musically inclined (see: dont play piano) i cant enjoy this game. the fun comes from composing, not from controling the guy.

I'm afraid I don't have much to add beyond what others have said. Excellent concept, what appears to be fine gameplay, but the system is cumbersome and unless you know how to write music or just really dig into the mechanics and turn your speakers off, it's not really all that fun, it's just random and repetitive. Now, for the musically inclined, this must be really neat, so kudos for making a game for them. It just isn't accessible.

I'd been wondering what the cat was for, then I hit the 'random' button...5/5 just for accurate modelling of cat behavior.

I really have no idea what is going on-it's not very satisfying as a player to just press random and only have to stand there. I literally have nothing to do which is boring and confusing. Sorry nerdook, this isn't your best.

I LOVE this, however, it does need a bit of improvement. Firstly, why does it keep erasing the last note I try to write? Last note in the final measure always seems to be replaced by a rest. Secondly, I would love to be able to use different not lengths, and I'd also love another octave. I've got some pieces I've composed (for guitar), and it would be awesome to be able to use them in the game. :)

I think to really appreciate it, you have to be a music nut (which I am not), but it's really not that difficult to adequately play if you study the map layout enough and don't try too hard to make a beautiful sounding song. At least, from what I've played. It's definitely the most unique take on the tower defense genre I've ever seen, so props for that.

personally i dont like this game.
accually i only think it has an high rating because it was made by nerdook.
if i would have made it nobody would play it so i rate 1/5.

I suck at music, but hey it doesnt matter just do your best not to block your blocks( during the swap) i mean do not leave them blank in other words do not play more then 3 times, and do not repeat 2 much cos the more u activate the more blocks you shoot, and even if what ends up sounds like crap, you will most likely win the level. Dnno if people should + but its just the general idea of the game, ah and btw it seems like all of blocks have global range.

nice game nerdook !
good luck with the competition
10'' in the game, the piano began and that did it for me.
love your games <3

Nerdook, I usually don't like your games. This one on the other hand was pretty amazing. Really unique concept I wish the compositions could be more ellaborate though. Add in 8th notes and allow for chords twice a bar or something. I really liked playing with the keyboard just wish there were another octave. 5/5

Ok, I get what you were trying to do here, and it is mind-bogglingly brilliant. Problem is, game-play wise, it is pretty darn cumbersome. Planning a score out tends to backfire, and isn't much worth the effort when simple scales work almost as well.

Very well made and creative game. I'm sure a lot of effort went in to making this, but it definitely isn't a favourite.

Could you maybe make the instructions clearer or make a guide explaining the sections and how to activate the specific blocks within them?

A few suggestions to improve the game:
1. You could rearrange the block patterns to play a common musical phrase, (the first line of happy birthday for example) that would deal the maximum damage for any given level. It would help take the randomness out of the game and add an interesting puzzle aspect to the game.
2. It would also be nice to be able to play more than one cord per measure. Most songs don't stick to one cord per measure.
3. Add the seventh cords to allow complete cord progressions.
4. Add eighth notes and half note to give some flexibility to the composition.
5. add a level editor and sandbox mode. it would be fun to try and guess other peoples songs.
I know it can be difficult to program a game to include these elements, but I think it would make a good game truly awesome. I love the concept and the potential.

Its not the random music that does the damage, its using the blocks right. if you pay attention you will notice in the view screen the top half is labeled c2 through b2 and the bottom is c1 through b1. each letter has two columns, one for the natural (white key) and the other for the sharp (black key). to do the most damage include these notes in your composition. For best results play the notes corresponding to the blocks closest to the ghost spawn point first, then those going to the first star, then the spawn point to the second star etc. Repeat the notes close to the spawn point a first, then the ones toward the stars later in your composition.

5/5 for a contest entry, but 4/5 as a kongregate game. If a person doesn't know what they are doing, they will just hit random every time and not be able to finish the game. If a person DOES know what they are doing, having to create up to 32 bars of music for every level takes a long time. Great game for music composers, but not the average gamer.

This game is just amazing. People don't seem to understand that every level is different and the notes you play determine where blocks are placed and they will just use the random feature every round, taking out most of the fun of the game. I wish you good luck in the competition and can only hope that this game get rated fairly and not destroyed by people that don't understand music but want to play a music game. 5/5

A very interesting and unique twist on the tower defence game genre. An excellent candidate for the Eden contest. And always the memorable nerdook look to it.
Good job.

Potential to be my fav game ever. About halfway through, I have two hang-ups. 1) Inventory management is a problem. No good way to compare stuff; i forget where it is; I forget what I'm even looking for. 2) While I love spending time making the songs, once the game starts I feel useless. Sure, i jump around a lot and I'm sure I'm doing damage. It just doesn't *feel* satisfying. I wish I could offer something more helpful than that, but there it is.

a little too clever for its own good, maybe. 3/5 for a really neat concept, but i found it confusing and not much fun. also, the compose mode was really buggy for me. notes wouldn't save correctly and the interface just isn't as friendly as it could be.

Nerdook you are the only person i've ever met who is able to make a game like this, piano TD with ghosts and a cat. quite simply epic
