Beginner's tip: if you haven't found the Daimyo and you have the last click left... simply restart. You will lose whatever you did during the area but get no penalty for dying. Yes, you will die if you run out of clicks. I've never died of anything else. Other than that, follow ninjazz guide. Unlike the Ninja, your sidekicks can be easily resurrected when they die so focus upgrades to keep him alive and devastating.

my "consumables" in the shop still show some "grayed out" items there, which I could afford already. I can buy them, but visually they look like they're still too expensive in that case. still that game is amazing in general ;-)

Important notice to those who buy more clicks; if you run out of clicks, and buy more, the game will not allow you to continue exploring tiles, even though you just bought more.

Just so everyone is aware, the game is fairly punishing as far as upgrades and death goes and if played wrong (follow the guide ninjazz posted for help) then you can easily and permanently ruin the save file. It's a standard of Nerdook games that you cannot go back and death doesn't reward you and this game is no different so be aware of this.

Once the forest and mountain tiles are introduced, I just fail to see which tiles I did not uncover sufficiently to detect the daimyo. The first one I found by accident and led me to realise footprints are, indeed, useless. I want to like this game, but it's just too confusing.

The footprints do nothing! They just run circles and I uncovered every tile too! What the hell does the daimyo even look like?

Replaying cleared provinces is not possible, failing a providence causes all progress that attempt to be lost (permanent upgrades included), clicks per providence is extremely limited. All in all, it's a very poor design. If you don't grind as much silver as possible with the limited clicks given, the game quickly becomes unwinnable.

This game is desperate for some outside consultation. It has some good bones, but in its current form it is completely nonsensical.

Challenging medium badge. My recs:
1. Locate daimyo first. Use remaining clicks to kill minions and mine silver as priorities. Heal if you need to before daimyo. Save for Superslash on the boss every time. Makes killing daimyo easy. Hunt daimyo by exposing a full cross each time.
2. EXP for building out your whole team first with regeneration skill. Brute, then Archer then Monk. Extra EXP to Samurai evenly, Brute (armor, HP), Archer (attack spd, dam) but priority goes to Samurai.
3. Most skills are crap. Start with MINER for fast silver for more skills. Now REGENERATION, SOULDRINKER, MULTISTRIKE, BAMBOO ARMOR, CHAKRA.
Once those main skills are done, LIGHTFEET, QUICKSTRIKE. Anything else is optional, but focus on general skills and not specifics to one enemy.

As others have said, since replaying provinces isn't possible, you should keep XP you earn in a province prior to a defeat.

Beginner Instructions: Defeat 1 or 2 Mooks squares and then try to find the Daimyo to take advantage of the HP restoration. Then defeat more Mooks and use Rice Fields to restore. Upgrade recommend: 1) Focus: Chakra (extremely helpful) 2) Regeneration 3) Multi Strike. I bought the Brute first (doesn't die so quickly) and then the Archer.

Mercenary Armor: Makes your mercenaries into better armor for the Samurai.
Chakra Focus: Lets you raise your meat shields from the grave more frequently.
Super Slash: Use once per map to beat Daimyo.
Expert Tracker: Reveal entire map. Click where footprints end to find daimyo.
Farmer: Disregard traps. Acquire rice.
Samurai: Spend all training on samurai. Don't bother training the meat shields.
Brute: Spend excess training on health and armor to improve meat shield utility.
Mining: Samurai do not strike mountains to gain silver. Samurai strike their enemies to gain silver.

The daimyo was on the booby trap. Was that a glitch, or purposeful? It seems rude to force me to lose 25% health before fighting the daimyo.

what the point of the game if you can't farm and accumulate silver/exp when you lose? You're stuck with the same shit cards you're dealt every turn and fingers crossed that this highly retarded AI runs in the direction of the enemy instead of pattycakeing in the middle of the battlefield

for those who are struggling in the 'daimyo tiles': all the mooks you haven't defeated yet will spawn there, so it's best to clear some mooks before you are engaging the boss.

Not very balanced game, If you're playing for the first time. You can't easily complete it on your first attempt without understanding basic mechanics. Few tips: 4th companion is useless, waste of experience, better use it to upgrade 10xp skills, don't purchase 25xp skills either.
I've used archer/monk/brute [brute early, but max'd archer's dmg], buy focus chakra asap, save power and use clones to fight boss. Other skills: Souldrinker, multislash, light foot, both armors, wineflask, quickstrike. Try to find boss first, clear VISIBLE soldier tiles [except traps], later pick all the VISIBLE monasetry/silver. If you still have clicks, keep them for extra XP/silver after boss
