The game stands well on its own as a music game, even without the promotional aspect--and that, in turn, is well-done promotion. Although the title and theme made me expect music from somewhere between the 20s to the 70s, I wasn't put off by the song itself. It was even kinda catchy. I think you're pretty talented in your genre, honestly. Good luck with the competition, and well-done on your game!

[CONTINUED] Also, something more than just the image unlocking for score would be great to add in. For instance, each image section could open up to the player at their own set intervals (i.e. 200 points for the first part, 500 for the second, 1,000 for the third, etc.) Just some tangible number to look at while I shoot for a score. Because, like, a small circle slowly filling up isn't all that satisfactory! D:
Anyways, there's my two cents as a developer and as a lover of rhythm games. It's good, but still needs more stuff! Keep it up! :3
P.S. Sorry, I ran over the 1,000 character limit. Curse you, Kongregate! D:
Thanks for the in-depth feedback. If I have the chance to push an update in the next few days I'll add scoring! Also there is indeed only one song as of now. The game and song are supposed to work as a singular experience, and not an arcade style multi-track score-em-up. If this game does well though, I'll consider doing a second one with more styles and songs!

As a game developer: I really enjoy the game itself, it plays smoothly and looks pleasant. The audio is disrupted quite a bit by the negative pieces, which gets you at that "Well shit, I don't want that to happen again! D:" feeling. However, one song in a rhythm game isn't much of game! I mean... Unless more songs open up somewhere along the way? I hit one negative and didn't get the full image on my best shot (it's really hard to avoid it sometimes when they spawn in a full line across the record) so maybe there was just more to unlock. I don't know. If it's just this one song, I'm a bit disappointed. I don't mind the song, unlike half of the people in the comments thus far... But I need more than just one song! :P

Nice game, if a bit short - "Music Catch" is similar, but has more tunes. I love the idea of showing progress through the polaroid which gets more complete as I play - I believe a score display (as in a number) in-game woudl spoil the athmosphere. The "game over" screen could well contain a message like "you caught 345 triangles and hit 7 scratches" or something like that; since the scratches subtract from my triangle stash, a combined total would also work.

I did expect a song that one might actually have heard in vinyl though...
