8,883,833 plays and at least 50 of those are mine! Elona was a brilliant RPG, and Elona Shooter is one, too. Ever since its release I have been enjoying it, and I don't plan on stopping. This was the game that got me into software engineering and learning to code myself, so hopefully maybe I can use it as inspiration! You will never see this, but thank you so much for reminding me of how good games were "Back in the day". You're awesome! (You who's reading this: You're awesome, too!)

@demo3467 - 1) If you're a beginner, get as many medals as you can first. Choose casual mode + laptop mode + skip hard waves. DONT use carry over if you died or you wont qualify for any medals afterward.
2) Some say it is better for beginners to use Sheriff class but I would rather go for Rogue(best money maker) or Hunter(Bowgun). Remember to aim at the enemy's head to deal double damage :)
3) If you are a rogue, you should upgrade Sense, Luck or Active before anything else. Hunter should be Cripple Shot and Engineer
4) Save money to upgrade house. If you are a Rogue, you should recruit Ranger or Hunter next. When you are not getting the class you needed, just spend 2AP to refresh recruit and if it is still a no, just return to title, click continue and refresh recruit again. I do this all the time :) The same technique goes when choosing your gun.
5) Dont use Ragnarok too early on the game. Go to elona.wikia.com/wiki/Elona_Shooter for more tips. Good Luck!

Day 130,
Today I went out with my buddies, killed another hundred or so of them. Collected over a hundred eggs which sold on the spot for a nifty profit; glad no one stole any of my property while I was out. Threw a party to celebrate our victory, somehow this allows our weapons to perform vastly better the next day. After the party, my buddies and I get rowdy and begin taunting the fields of corpses outside the castle. Our King seems to think we deserve extra payment whenever we do this. Had dinner, these feasts have always been a great experience. I wonder why these guys keep attacking from the same side of the castle everyday, our South gate has been defenseless for almost a year. Records show that I have slain over ten thousand of them, and my buddies have each slain well over five thousand each. Why do they persist? Come to think of it, I have already obtained the title of King, if the King of this kingdom is paying me, and I am the king, am I paying myself?

For me, getting started was the hardest part. With no badges it takes time to get up to speed. Also this game requires planning. Planning weapon upgrades, planning allies, which skills to prioritize, keeping money for weapons with good slots, holding those weapons in reserve until the mods on them are right. Using level one mods to protect the good ones during upgrades. when to buy sandbags, how many chickens do I buy before I stop, etc. There is a lot to learn. I got lucky one one casual hunter but due to lack of planning he hit a wall around wave 40. Weapon upgrades and Villas are important.

I can't believe this was released 10 years ago... I played it when it was released back then and I loved it. I abandoned the game and I came back to it several times with the years. Now, finally, after 10 years, I got into it fully and I've been playing and enjoying it for several days and got far into the game, I kind of feel accomplished. We were getting such good games even 10 years ago, it's a shame the era of flash games is slowly coming to an end and with it all the creativity of devs who did this for more than just money.

If you liked this game, be sure to play the original Elona or the community driven one, Elonaplus. The purpose of this game was actually to promote the original Elona.

Would be nice if your character would reload their weapon when it empties on their own, instead of frantically trying to shoot without ammo

I just got the Impossible badge for like the 4th time since 2010. This game is forever-replayable because it is so close to conceptually perfect (in the way the game's math scales with progression-difficulty, and in the choose your own fate style). Now triple AAA titles have a million times more resources and graphical fidelity... but still fizzle out after weeks or months... because they seldomly master scaling formulas for "challenge and replayability". Video games as a whole have become interactive movies that take almost no skill, have almost no deeper aspect execution.. where the player's success or failure is actually on the line... and lets we forget the pandemic of boring idling skinnerbox/lootbox simulators. But games like Elona Shooter are the honest deal.. in terms of being an actual video game. Something that maintains Skill Ceilings / Learning Curves / Wildcards and Challenge. Other games: take note.

get militia companions with rocket launchers or grenade launchers and mod them with auto reload.
if 1000/fire rate > reload time (ms) then they basically never have to reload. currently able to beat levels without even firing my own gun, wave 41.

If you're having trouble starting: Select Hunter or Sheriff. Check "casual mode." First day, buy 1 repair guy (to get perfect days), a henchman (if sheriff), and start saving 2k for the house to get a second henchman. If it's still too hard, go to mods and turn on Laptop Mode. Once you get some badges, you'll get more starting money and other bonuses, then you can tackle normal mode. + this comment if you found it useful.

One important trick to know, i think, is that when using a manual weapon you can simply hold down the space bar and you will reload the gun in between every shot.
I find this to be most useful with the Revolver (which I never see anyone talk about). I've been using this gun the most in all my time player this game. Effectively this allows me to shoot 3+ shots per second with no reload time ever. And with the damage ability of this gun, I can really unleash a lot of damage continuously through every level.
I am a noble, with a rogue (laser pistol), ranger (gravity gun), and a sheriff (any shotgun will do really). I find this to be very balanced with the guns (ability to take out armor/flying waves). And the units are selected to give me access to almost every party skill.

Repairs need to be at the end of a round. What good does it do if you are trying to get a perfect day and get gangraped by a bunch of trigger happy chickens?

I just learned something, not the least bit interesting. I had thought that the game ended on day 1002, because that's as far as it let me go, but it would seem the reason it did that was because one of my allies (level 4,936) ran out of skills to learn. You can go on and on, replacing your allies until your character reaches that ridiculously high level. Ah, useless info.

i bought myself a sister to go sucide bomb....i pay over 500 for the sister....none for the bomb...it would be cheaper just to launch the bomb without the sister :/

Haha just tried to play ranger. You start with a machinegun... the shots missed all the time so i lost on the first day (On casual !!) There was nothing i could do :/ No more big guns for me.

beyond wondering why a chicken is attacking my castle, how is this chicken able to LAUNCH an EGG with enough force to tear down a FORTIFIED STONE WALL in forty hits?

There is a wikia for this game, tied into the dev's much larger game, Elona. It contains useful information about class/weapons/skills, etc. Rate up to keep this comment alive.

There is a page 2 to the Tower upgrades. I just now found it out, 4 years after playing this game for the first time.

I can't belive this game is still validly kicking perfectly. I'm happy about this because I played it a while ago and now i'm back.

Shouldn't carry over allow me to keep my upgrades as well as my money? otherwise I end up with less money as I am force to re-buy the upgrades I need to survive.

FINALLY. A game where your teammates aren't completely stupid. I LOVE that you can control who they attack, so a person with a great anti-air gun doesn't attack all the armored units and vice-versa. I'd give this game 5/5 just for that feature, but everything else was amazing too. + if you want more games where you have some control over teammates (besides taking manual control).

Just got the Impossible badge, and every other achievement in the game too. Took about a week, but it was fun. Hints: Start with the sheriff, get max Dr Holiday, and use your shotgun the entire game. Upgrade to a shotgun with at least 4 mod slots, and add in Anti-armor, Damage, Leech, Accuracy. Get Noble/Ranger/Militia minions up to big gun 11 to give them Gravity Guns with impact and leech mods. Invest in 100 chickens or so, and 15 sisters if an ally has "Love". Taunting isn't useful anymore since monster HP now stacks. Taxes pile up fast in Hardcore, be prepared for a major funding shortage around level 40 if you don't have Accountant, Love, Breeder, et cetera.

Been playing this game for on and off over a year now. Currently at day 161 and have been pretty much invincible with my Sheriff and teammates since about day 80 or so. Love this game so much. Relatively simple yet never gets old.

No game in K has let me in this love/hate relationship. On one side, i love it : gameplay, options, freedom, nb of skills, weapons and plenty of path to... Well... To death actually. Because, unless i keep reloading and reloading more and more, the LUCK factor makes almost everything. I tested it many times and a simple loot can change the face of your first 20 days... No game should demand to save'n cheat like that. A Day Replay or a few more options to downgrade the luck impact would be a great improvement. At last, the learning curve is a real factor too. And it is a remarkable point that "replayability" is so interesting (to me). That's very rare. Love. Hate. Definitly.
