Something else to consider is that Freeze Attack is useless against Poison Water since they will just use Poison Wave or DS on their attack turn. Even without decrease special, at special 60, Poison Water will have 30 poison on the Iceland mage. I think Poison Water can reach poison death before the Iceland Mage can reach Frozen death. Iceland with a special ring can completely stun lock all other clans by spamming freeze defend and freeze attack without losing any special, but not against Poison Water. One of Poison Water's greatest strengths is that it doesn't have to attack.

Zalomant, I don't think Poison Water is Irrelevant. With Paralyze, Poison Wave or Decrease Special Poison Water can defeat any clan if they have extremely high mana and some health.
Due to decrease, special Poison Water may be the only clan able to defeat an Iceland Mage with a special ring. If you freeze defend at 60 special, you'll go down to 45, then Poison Water can knock your special down to 15, than 30 after the turn. You'll be missing 5 additional bolts and lack enough special for Regenerate, meaning Poison Water can get enough poison on you to decrease your special again.

Zalomat, I agree with you that an Iceland Mage with a special ring is possibly the most powerful of all. I disagree that Chaos Desert is the best clan though, it will always lose to at least a well-played Great Sea or Poison Water Mage. CD's remove effects are good against other clans but against Poison Water it just speeds up their health drain.

The best clans are Ice > Desert > Fire > All else irrelevant.
I'd say Desert is the best but once Ice gets the "Ring of All Rings", you literally cannot lose and insta-death everything.

Darkwood is indeed an extremely powerful clan. The key is trade life while not having high health yourself. Don't move health above 600 or 610, but have around that much to be able to absorb a big hit from a clan like Burning Hill. Get additional attack power as high magic for 60S and combine for 80s not the other way around. During a fight, increase your special as fast as you can and then use trade life as soon as you can. At 100S use Silence, at 70s you will deal an addition 50 damage with your curse bolts because you got attack power for 60 as well as fully cursing the enemy. Then, you follow it up with a power boosted combined attack against a fully cursed enemy! If your life during the trade life was lower than the damage you'll do from this, you win! The enemies health level is completely irrelevant to a well played Dark Wood mage.

You'd be paying 20 life to remove a 10 damage per turn effect that will immediately return. You're using this on your attack turn, which means another poison wave will follow immediately. Remove effects is likely useful at much higher levels of poison effect doing much more damage each turn or getting close to poison death. But at poison 10, using remove effects may actually speed up your life drain rather than protecting it. I think the Poison Water mage wins with enough mana.

Regardless of who goes first, PW can get 10 poison effects on the CD mage before they reach 40S. The PW mage will then have to constantly alternate between PW and paralyze, dealing 10 damage followed by 1 damage. It will, of course, take the PW mage significantly more mana to finish draining the health at this initial low damage. However, while chaos deserts remove effect is excellent against other clan bolt effects, especially freeze bolts, against PW it isn't really helpful because you have to pay life for it.

Whichislife you are correct about the CD bolts dealing special damage at 20. But the Chaos desert mage doesn't have additional attack bolts then, so the PW mage can block the bolts before CD reaches special 40.
A chaos desert mage having a CD orb while the poison water mage doesn't would make things a lot more difficult. The strategy I suggested of using decrease special won't work in this case, but I still believe the Poison Water Mage can win, though they will need a lot more mana than otherwise. I'll explain why I think this on top to avoid character limit.

HunterG443, what do you think will happen if the CD mage uses a Chaos Desert Orb(one more attack bolt) which will decrease special just enough to delay the use of abilities? Also, I believe CD mages have a "remove effects" spell. How would that change the battle?

HunterG443, I see your points. If the PW (Poison Water) mage has enough mana (to survive the huge mana leak), they would win against a Great Sea mage.
For Chaos Desert(CD) however, remember that CD mages have decrease special in their bolts, much earlier (at special=20) than PW(special=60). Assuming you paralyze and poison wave alternatively until special=60, Even if you skip one paralyze, all the additional bolts + burning will probably kill you. But I realise, PW has highly spammable abilities, so perhaps you are correct.

Poison Water can easily defeat a Chaos Desert Mage. The key is decrease special. If the CD mage has special less than 40 you won't get hit by their bolts. At 20 and 40 you add 10 poison effects for a total of 20. At 50 you paralyze and at 60 you decrease special. The turn after doing this you'll have 70 special while the CD mage has 40. You'll get hit by 10 bolts and lose 20 special this turn, down to 50. But it doesn't because after the turn ends your special will rise to 60 and you can use decrease special again using the poison effects from your counter attack. This will take the CD special from 50 to 20 and then 30 next turn, not enough special to hit you! Just keep using decrease special and you will not only not get hit but soon have a superior number of bolts along with counter bolts quickly adding more poison.
Decrease special is the key to easily defeating Chaos Desert and Iceland mages.

Whichslife, Great Sea is indeed a great clan. If you choose additional attack bolts, Great Sea has a similar advantage in attack bolts as Chaos desert. With White Mage items Great Sea could deal 150 damage to a Poison water Mage each attack. Poison Water has great strength that other clans don't, they never have to actually attack with bolts, they use poison wave and decrease special instead, so the great Sea Mage wouldn't have anything to absorb in a fight with a well-played Poison Water. Poison Water would either have to have enough health to endure until ready for Poison Death, or have enough mana while being mana leaked to empty the Great Sea Mages health.

I think Chaos Desert and Great Sea would make a great challenge for Poison Water.Great Sea takes a bit more skill to play than Chaos Desert. If you have enough mana(in the 1000s), you can spam "Absorb damage" and "Absorb life". Chaos Desert is just OP with its "decrease special" and additional attack bolts. It can cleanse Poison effects too.

Which clan do you all think is the best clan? I think it's Poison Water, they're able to defeat any other clan, but only if they have extremely high mana and a decent amount of health.

How to win the assasin fight before tournament
- This does not change the story and it only gives you +1 skill point so it is not exactly worth it by itself but it is the hardest fight in all game
so it was a chalenge for me.
- The information is correct if you get max skill before (win every time) and get the mana orb. It might not be possible otherwise.

I wondered why Great Sea Mages could steal mana, until I learned drinking Ultrapure water takes the nutrients(mana) out your body after consumption.

To beat assassin before young mage competition:
-Be dark wood (only clan I could beat him with).
-Raise high and low attacking bolts to 10 each. Don't bother with defense at this point.
-Get blood bath and swap life.
-Pump life up to like 130, that was the sweet spot for me.
-My mana was 230 but I had a bit left. That being said I took the mana stone.
-Power doesn't matter, it was at one for me, also I had no high attack or low attack extra bolts. You kill him by letting him get you down to below 30 and then you swap life and blood bath to kill him.
-After he poisons you he will always paralyze the next attack. Because you have no defensive bolts, that is bad and he will kill you. So make sure to attack with the opposite attack of the one he favors (he may always favor lower attack, he did for me, and by favor I mean the one he has 15 attack bolts on).
There honestly should have been an achievement for that...but meh.

nice game. as a neutral i managed to find some kinda secret opponent,after getting the number one spot on the book of mages, you can fight him if you keep asking the mysterious hermit after reaching number one a few times,and he will fight you.

Tried this after it was recommended by a friend. It's games like this that make keeping the gaping security whole that is Flash installed on my computer still worthwhile. The grammar and etc could use a little polish of course but the combat is fun and has a surprising amount of depth and I love the art style. I've only played it once and from what I've been told I've barely scratched the surface of the content available.

I keep coming back to this game! The combat is strategic and it feels good to land attacks. Your decisions throughout the game matter, and it's fun to try to bring as many mages as possible to your side. I really want a sequel, but it's been so long that I'd be surprised if we got one. Either way, thanks nobstudio for a great game!

I come back to this game all the time too. I try to intentionally limtit skillpoints in order to experience as many storylines as possible while still trying to win as many fights as I can. Sometimes I end up as Greatmage anyway, but even then it feels much more satisfying to narrowly achieve that without even having reached lvl 100 at the end of the game.
