There should be some kind of perk system. Like you should be able to choose between defensive and offensive styles. Such as choosing defensive and having perks such as having ships fly around you defending you causing havoc, or an offensive ability that puts your laser into overdrive for 5 seconds.

i just cant help thinking this game could have been made a lot better, its based on war of the worlds which opens up tons of possibilities for this game, for instance, you might have to harvest a set number of humans to farm more of the red weed, which could increase a certain stat, or prolong your existence on earth, i just think that it should have been made into a strategy game

5/5 stars. this game is awesomely fun. level 14 with everything on and i got destroyed. the jets were so fast, i couldnt shoot at them well. but those werent the most trouble even.

For those having trouble beating the time challenge on the last level... You should have just about everything maxed by that point. I beat the challenge by ignoring the incoming beam and focusing fire on the laser tank every moment I could. When the tank's shields went up I prioritized the remaining enemies: EMP, Suicide Trucks, Rocket Tanks, everything else. It worked for me.

i don't know what made this game tolerable for anyone else, but i found it really difficult. by the time the missile trucks came on day 5, i had no shields and 10% armor. shields are 100% useless because, by the time they start recharging, something hits me again, and they have to start back from 1%.

Now when you say you can burn projectiles too do you actually mean you CAN'T burn projectiles too? Being i tried, and you Fing can't.

Really great game, spent an hour hunting down all the achievements. Its totally worth it for the bonus features in the cool menu. Honestly. You think theres not enough mindless destruction? Don't feel invincible enough? Unlock 2x soldiers, 2x weapon damage, and 2x shields and you definitely will. And plus, 2x gore and 2x destruction?! Thats twice the CPU sapping goodness of killing humans!

starting this game I was scared as sh*t, then it came to mind that I was the tripod >:)
still that roar gives me the shakes.

coll time waster got to cool menu in about an hour, not too hard, not too easy, takes some skill, or I am drunk though... 5/5

@Ramos_emanuel that's weird. I have very old hardware (almost 10 year old) and that thing doesn't lag a bit with the default settings. I rated your comment up because i don't understand why people would downrate it that bad; (+) and (-) features are abused, i guess this is some kind of self censure not unlike what deviantart promotes - this somehow disgusts me but i digress.

At first this game made me wonder why everyone seemed to think the tripods were so unstoppable in the books.
Then I remembered that this was only one tripod.

i hate that u need all achievements unlocked to get cool menu cos level 15 is hard to complete in 1 minutes and 30 seconds.
cool menu should be unlocked after beating level 14 to make level 15 easier or after level 15 as the game is completed.

very good game. but you could make it so that the ray comes out of the glowing white part of the machine instead of coming out of its neck(or whatever you could call it) despite that minor detail this is a very well made game.

Nice touch with the last level. I almost died before I realized the tank had sapped all my shields.
Guess that's what I get for being over-confident.

Awsome game but even on low quallity the game lags like hell, almost imposible to play 2/5 and if you fix lag it will be 4/5

Interesting. I just happened to be in Grover's Mill, NJ. this time last month. Visited the "site" of the 1937 Martian Invasion and even saw the water tower that was mistaken as a Martian Tripod :)

I dislike the fact that the last level has no skill involved and is just a matter of being basically fully upgraded defense and attack, but other than that its a great game.

What idiot would just walk up to a giant tentecle robot alien that fires lasers and just killed all your friends. LOVED the game 5/5. Just Awesome.

Xagran, just imagine that everytime one of those tripods is killed, the aliens are just sending more better equipped ones in, to overwhelm the humans.
And just imagine that this is the very first day of the aliens invasion, where the humans would still have some good technology to attempt to fight back. It's not like in the movie, or even the book, where i believe the invasion has already destroyed all the humans technology vehicles or whatever.

@sourfoe: your computer works harder if the grafhics setting is too low.
@dev: Awesome game, but it's a bit short, and when you got all the upgrades, there's no more fun, the day 15 becomes easy with a strategy and there's no replayability value, because if you erase your data, you already know all the levels in 30min-1h, so a sequel would be really HOT!

This game kick ass. 5/5. I wish for the second part, with more weapons ,secondary weapons, bombs,nukes,satelite,some more upgrates for the Tripod or parts. Mores enemy's and vehicules would be great. Enemy with a mech!
Because the world ,the nation and all citizen's wants the death of TRIPOD !!!
