Hi! I'm pepperpunk, the designer, artist, animator, and programmer for this game. This is my first major game which took several months to make and I hope you all have fun with it!
I will be active in the comments for a long while replying to you all, so if you have any questions, comments or would just like a subtle hint (in pirate speak) about how to complete some of the harder parts of the game, type them in below and I'll get back to you as soon as possible!
Enjoy, ye landlubbers! P-)
_P.S. Thanks to my awesome sponsor, Turbonuke for supporting this game, go check out their games on here if you haven't already, this one is my favourite:_

How to Play
Mouse controlled. Full instructions in-game, but as a quick summary:
Click on ports and seas to adventure (each adventure takes 1 week, after 100 weeks Lord Haddock will attack).
- In combat click on the different ammo types to attack:
- Hotshot sets fire to enemy ships.
- Grapeshot does extra damage to sea monsters and kills enemy crew.
- Chainshot damages sails on ships and entangles sea monsters.
Watch out for the special attacks from sea monsters, which can freeze your ship, kill your crew or regenerate their own health.

I like this game, but I feel like there isn't enough variety in the mid-late game enemies. Some seas I wasn't getting anything but sea monsters... (I suppose this could be the point, but if so it should be said in-game.) Crew should probably play a role other than just for boarding, since later ships have too much defense for it to be worth it, since you have to feed and hire crew, in addition to spending grape shot. Perhaps if crew affected reload speed, with bigger ships needing more crew to reload efficiently.
These are some good ideas, thanks! I'll keep them in mind for the sequel.

It would be nice to continue after victory, there's plenty to do after the time limit is up. Getting a little more gold to start with isn't much of a boon.
This was something I considered, but ultimately decided that it makes the trophies a little too easy if you get infinite weeks in which to complete them. Completing the Fountain of Youth quest line in 100 weeks before Haddock gets you is pretty challenging, and I wanted to keep that difficulty intact, and keep the game enjoyable throughout multiple playthroughs. I might switch to a different approach for the sequel, possibly having the multiple endings one after another.. e.g. once you beat the boss you get a map to a whole new set of seas. Thanks for the feedback, I'll see what everyone thinks!

Ha, loved the bit about trying to prevent the heat death of the universe. Is that an easter egg for super high reputation in FoY or did i just miss it the first time around? Also, is there a similiar easter egg for finishing El Dorado With high reputation? 300+ should be doable, -200 for genocide, leaves you still at 100+. Beloved Tyrant? Or is it overwritten by the default Wealthy Hero?
Glad you liked that part, writing that ending was one of my favourite parts of making the entire game, going all-out sci-fi. (It's the standard ending to the fountain of youth quest). Tempted to use it as the basis of a sequel set in space (I have around 6 ideas for potential sequels), but that all depends on how this game does first, whether or not sequels are made. The titles/ ranks at the end are made up of 2-3 different parts which are dependant on your morale, reputation and doubloons. I guess you'd get "wealthy beloved hero" if you somehow managed to get 300+ rep before committing genocide. :p
