One of the few games I've played where the top comments are all good. I must say, Pseudalonewolf must be a genius to be able to make such a complicated plotline, while making the player guess what will happen next, oftentimes surprising people who have extremely good logic.

My computer occasionally locking up my buttons is the only thing that prevents this from being one of the most enjoyable gaming experiences I have had of ever. Great story, good battle system, extremely humorous (I loved knocking the living daylights out of the Warriors of Light) ... all around, great. Better than a lot of RPGs people pay for!

@SperendorCrescit: Actually, his name is based off of three characters in Mesopotamian mythology. Marduk, Inanna, and Enkidu.

Your save file WILL disappear when you delete your cookies and clear your cache or defrag. It's not a Chrome specific thing at all, it happens across everything. Just go and find the save file and place it in a folder in documents as back up.

Good god this is a great game, the only thing that makes it better is that its free... This is like a modern day interpretation of Zelda, but with humor, and aliens... and its free... simply put this series is epic

@troop, there is supposed to be 8 games in the mardek series, the 4th one is going to take some time to makee since the developer of this game has a schedule of the games he will be working on for this year @ www.fighunter.com/?page=games

@Gchick: Were you hitting an enemy that absorbs the dealt damage? In that case health or mana leach will reduce your own pool. You can check resistances by clicking its health display in combat or by checking the encyclopaedia; a resistance >100% means that the monster (or the hero, e.g. if (s)he's wearing the earth jacket) absorbs a certain amount of the respective damage.

pro tip: in the final battle, it is much easier to de-zombify your team than to revive and heal them. not only does morich spend a turn (that he could use killing the rest of you) turning your mate into a zombie, but a holy water takes one turn and you will usually get them back at full health

I see after 8 years in game, Deugan's habit of jumping in bed with Mardek after a conversation hasn't changed. I love these games, though! 5/5

Great game, but there's something wrong with it now...

One thing that bugs me about RPGs in general is how long it takes to get a combat. If I want to get money or master skills, I spend more time walking around than actually fighting. Could there possibly be a button in the corner that instantly gives you a battle? Besides this, this is a better RPG than I usually see on consoles. 5/5.

@BlackGreyWhite First, smite is a character specific move for Vehrn. You'll understand more in Chapter 3, when more people have skills in an area no one else can (e.g. Gloria, Legion). It allows Vehrn to be more useful as an ally because of it. Huff Puff is gone (as well as the +1 dmg) because later on they're absolutely useless. Also, Mardek and Deugan "changed" skill sets, though it's the same in chapter 3, so they carry over there. Huff Puff was likely only there in chapter 1 to make it so you could heal at all (though honestly, you don't really need it ever except MAYBE the final fight against Mugbert.

This may be among the most well-deserved 5's I've given...though I should hold my tongue until I've played the third one ;)

As a hardcore fan of the old FF games and old NES RPGs I applaud your work and yes the inter chapter saving is just brilliant I love it. Two thumbs up or 6/5 if I could!

Why do people can't understand? There is no "copy", not only because they released Final Fantasy (for example) that all games after that are copies, the games are all based in games already released, they just adapt and create different things. THIS GAME IS NOT A COPY OF POKEMON, OR FINAL FANTASY, if you want a "original" game, there'll be no games in the future ¬¬'

so, mardek's items are carried over, but some characters won't continue on the game (I won't tell the spoilers here). Some of them, you'll have to wait until they come back to your party to have access to their items. Anyway, after you beat this chapter, you may have access to your party members' items and can put them in the storage, which I suggest you to do.

Deugan: (So our behaviour during the test isn't assessed on some special summary screen or anything...?)
FF VIII reference = 5/5

@mvprockstar The good thing about Moric's second form is that he zombifies you when you die. You can easily pop a Holy Water on an ally when they get zombified, thus giving you a free full revival. It becomes especially good when you get the Bonestone, as it grants immunity to zombification. When Moric tries to zombify you, you get revived with full health and no status effects.

@ne0pets22 The zombies that you fight are animated corpses without souls. Since there is no soul to return to the body, removing zombification does nothing to it. The only reason that you can "cure" your own zombification is that your soul is still in your body, or near enough that it can return.

I enjoy playing this game very much! I like this Genre and also the game is better than games the same kind. I like this sense of humor, the game mechanism and the evolution of the characters and their character (:D). The only thing i felt a bit demotivated was, when a used the spell teleport by accident and their was no " Do You really want to use Teleport" Question >.< :D
But that was my problem :P.
So all in all one of the BEST games here :D
6/5

For all you people having trouble beating any of the Mardek games, Pseudolonewolf has added an excellent walkthrough to Kongregate. Try checking the walkthrough before complaining or giving the game a bad rating.

This game is just perfect. Its a perfect combination of a retro pixelated world, and smooth battle scenes. The gameplay is not complicated at all, and you can start playing immediatly even if it was your first play. At first, i thought it would be a generic medieval adventure, but once i ended the first game i was simply amazed at the twists. What most amazed is the fact that you've done this on your own, when i thought there would be a great team behind this. Keep up this fantastic piece of art! And don't let the trolls well, troll you. 5/5
