@hiryuu: Check what your clearing process entails. Chances are that there's an option you have selected that you could uncheck that would cause you not to lose your flash data. You could also back it up (not that that's a bad thing to do anyway) - on my computer, the data is stored in %appdata%/macromedia/flashplayer/chat.kongregate.com/games/ and it's probably stored in the same place if you also have Windows.

While this is a truly excellent game, and much more ambitious than the previous chapters, it's also not quite as flawless. I've found myself several times having to look things up in the walkthrough because I don't know what to do next. In all but one case, it's because I haven't used the right combination of characters in the right place to continue; but it's not always obvious which characters are needed where. In the other case, a step in the trade quest wasn't obvious to me.
Nonetheless, this is a wonderful game :)

Finally finsihed the game, after many hours. The excitement led me to not realize the time passing. Just fantastic how to story progresses. Must say, until Mardek 4 comes, which will take a while, will be boring. Just can´t keep up with the suspense.

@Conquerer95: Well, Happy Johnny DOES have a 70% evade chance... That might have something to do with your eight consecutive misses which, while uncommon, is not overly unlikely (6% chance.)

This is probably the best RPG I've played in years. The overworld NES-like sprites really appeal to me (I've always liked that style), and contrast (positively) with the in-depth battle graphics perfectly. The game also has a deep, non-linear plot, with plenty of side-quests and backstory. For those who've beaten the game, its fun enough to play through over again, which is rare for a story-driven game. Its good for both the casual player and more serious players. All in all, an excellent game.

Alot of people have been posting " I accidentally sold the evening star from the gizmo-meter quest back at the sand-flow caverns, is it possible to get another one?". The answer is yes, and although im not aware of another one besides this one, the second one can be found in the Tainted Grotto. Simply go to the room where you first battled " The world's saviours" and you will notice a dream circle on the map, enter it. Explore all possible avenues and eventually you will discover it, along with multiple valuable treasures. Sorry for the lengthy post but i just want to make sure it's clear and concise for the confused.

I love how Mardek was arguably your worst fighter in chapter 2, and in this game you turned him into the best fighter.

All parts of this game, Chapters 1-3, are the most fun I've had on Kongregate. Sheer blood freakin' brilliance. The tongue-firmly-planted-in-cheek 'smartass-isms' of the game's hundreds of NPC's make the worth playing alone, let alone the superior combat & character development system, and great backstory. Graphically & 'tone'-wise, it reminds me quite a lot of one of my favorite RPG's of all time, from the late 80's --'Wasteland', by Electronic Arts (yeah I'm old). I'd give this game 5 stars quite a few more times if i could. Eagerly anticipating future chapters. Tally-Ho!

You know, I want this series to continue...but sadly the creator isn't working on it anymore.
Hopefully all us fans will get a chapter 4 in our lives.

I totally didn't realize at first that you can target more than one monster (or party member if you're healing) with a spell. In the targeting mode, use the left arrow for monsters and the right arrow for the party. It will target everyone on that side and it only doubles the mp used for the spell. So much more damage when you only have one water spell user against the fire temple monsters!

To be honest, this is THE BEST FREE RPG GAME i have ever played so far, guess what? Because the story is deep and unique, the music was awesome, excellent battle system with various skills, elements and characters, many secrets and challenging boss battles as well as long playing hours ( around 80 hours +). This game was so immense, i bet there is no other Free RPG game as good as Mardek series. However, im so dissapoint about the developers are abandoning the Mardek 4 and reboot the entire series with Taming Dreams... Sigh.. But, however thanks a lot to Pseudolonewolf for this great game and im very appreciate it. ( I hope one day the developer will change his/her mind to continue on Mardek 4 )

It's been what.... 3 years?
And still, out of the 2,891,180 people who have played the game, only 5086 people got the "Psychosomatic Exhaustion Badge"
Dayum.

Something I found after 2,5 chapters. If you want your skills to have effect on all party members press the right button during the selection phase. It costs x2 mana and uses it on every party member. Especially useful for heals..

Well, I don't know if Pseudolonewolf will ever see this comment, but if he does... we have this fellow's soul in gem form, and an inventor that can make shells for souls. Perhaps we could have this chapter's antagonist be an ally in future chapters?

@Toxicvenom Either you're stupid either you're just stupid. This game is a story-based RPG, and it's got a damn good story. Pseudolonewolf even made a story for every character, and the mood fits perfectly. There's a relation about things you didn't even expect, like Gloria talking about the Shaman you killed in chapter 2. There's hints about next chapters too, like Moric talking about a Chaosbringer. Definitely not just a 'basic dungeon crawler'.

It's the poor man's Skyrim! :p but on a serious note, I'm at what might be halfway through the third game and I declare Mardek to be the greatest RPG on the web, and I don't think it's close. The music is kinda discordant but for the most part sublime, way-above-the-average battle graphics/spell effects, fun battle system and "unique" character development system with the bonuses (the "AP", as it were), but honestly my favorite part is just reading through all the descriptions and dialogue, looking for hidden gems and digs at other giants in the genre. No other RPG has made come close to wanting to do that. Pseudolonewolf, I salute thee.

@greengaby9 there is no bug, you have to activate all the gem switches to get to the purple gem switch flip it so its on, then turn OFF all the OTHER gem switches, this will give you a clear path to the guardian, thus the crystal.

Mmmm I can't believe that this game has only 4.31/5 on rating. It should be 4.99/5 at least (I cant give that 0.01 'cause I'm waiting for Chapter 4 :D )

Just as in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, the water temple is the most diabolically evil in terms of puzzles. Also, the walkthrough contains some errors. It doesn't mention how you have to turn off the pedestals to make the floating gem platforms appear. Keep this is mind so you don't waste a ton of time and frustrate yourselves.

The fact that this game has not rated above a 4.5 (at the very least) is less of an indication of the game's quality and more of an indication of an issue with kongregate's playerbase. I'm a bit of a lurker all things considered when it comes to posting comments, but I thought this game showed so much phenomenal thoughtfulness and depth that I needed to make my voice heard. It brings me back to the good old days of 8bit RPGs like FF, Lufia and etc. Awesome game Pseudo, thank you so much for making it.

Here's a MUCH easier way of killing the Security Demon.
1. Confuse him.
2. Wait for him to cast death on himself.
3. Done.

To those who might not know, Tobias Cornwall (aka Pseudolonewolf, MARDEK's creator) has been struggling a lot in life with mental health problems and brain cancer. The MARDEK games are on steam now, and he does have a patreon page (https://www.patreon.com/alorafane), so if you would like to support him, he has continued pursuing game development. I only found out about all of this recently, and with how much enjoyment I got out of these games back in the day, I felt I should share for anyone playing for the first time, or who has returned for a hit of nostalgia. Thanks, and have fun!

What I really like about this game is that the protagonist isn't the omnipotent, all-knowing invincible hero you usually see. He has his "dim" moments and, rather than nearly all protagonists, he would rather be a follower more than a leader. It's the little things like that that sets this game apart from all the other extremely-long RPGs.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
This game is likely one of the best in its genre, even compared with "professional" games from dedicated software houses. Actually, there are professional games that are far worse than this. It... has extremely high potential, considering this is only the third chapter (out of eight, iirc), but it's not just that. It's ALREADY a great game, even if it ended now. Well, except the plot wouldn't be over.

40 hours. 2 crystals. I [PROFANITY]-ING LOVE THIS GAME! First time I chapter 2 I was like "Woah son, this is like Final Fantasy" and I kept on playing, a very satisfying experience. I love the humour, the music is lovely and fits everything (I especially like Saul's theme and the Saviour's Battle). The character development is ten times better than most RPG's and reminds me of KOTOR: There are multiple allies, they have their own backstory, and there's even a homocidal personality in a robot which made me lol. Keep working on the new chapters, I eagerly await the ending to this one and the experience of more to come.
