I've never been a fan of the "grindfest" genre of games, and that is exactly what this is. The special abilities add quite a bit to it, but not enough to hold my interest for more than a few minutes. As others have stated, checkpoints, stages, save points, SOMETHING so that I don't start from the beginning EVERY SINGLE TIME would be nice.
On the flip-side of the coin, the graphics are well done, and the music fits well. The sound effects are not bad (could be better, but could also be way worse, so we'll call them 'decent'). Hotkeys would be a pretty nice addition too.

Jarty is right. With items, you can have equipment for your army, so that when you first recruit, say a goblin warrior, it starts with rags and a club, but when you find a sword, the goblin changes as well, replacing the club. same idea with armour. and it would be nicer if the units could be manually controlled or something, anything to get the player more involved

@jakeraymond555 the key to swordsman is getting units that are strong against them, same with other tough units later in the game. The tactic that works best for me is buying units, upgrading their battalion to maximum, and putting the corresponding melee units to the corresponding enemy troops. Then in the middle, I keep the two strongest ranged troops. The cheats also help immensely, this game is simply more tactic-based than upgrading.

its very very tiresome to start from over and over again and the money raising part should be dealt to maybe from achievments other than that very good concept i liked the game :)

I would give it more stars, but it is so slow - I have to watch some series in other window or I would be bored of waiting for next wave to finish.

Is there a save button you need to click before you quit? I closed out of this game yesterday after buying half the minions you can get and now my save data is gone :(

Whew! Beat it in 27 days. No cheats. I had to graph out all the gold values and bonuses for distance to pull it off. Had to really optimize the first 10 days. Skipped dark mages and only used underworld fighters to delay battles to let my cooldowns build up. Maximized cursed knights and only bought enough werewolves to beat the Madmen. Maximized the demon minus the smash upgrade.

1. The game should REMEMBER what moves and actions I had done the last time. And when I do nothing, repeat them. 2. The special actions should be available without switching between groups. 3. Use stone/paper/scissor principle - it is no use to be specially strong against something is you are stronger ANYWAY. New units should give new tactics at the start battles, too... As it is now, the game soon becomes a continious repetition of the same actions.

Soldier: Sir, demons approaching, should I have the archers take position on the sideline.
King: No, they stay behind soldiers.
Soldier: Sir, they have archers, should I order our archers to take them out
King: No, just have them fire at the frontline.

SOLDIER:BUT captain! the ARMY HAS DEMONS
CAPTAIN:well send the paladins after the peasants die

great game :) hotkeys would be nice for the battalions, and for their spells too. for example: 1,2,3 should be the battalions hotkey, to bring them to first row, and the space key for their spells. that'd make the executing of the strategy faster, more fluid.
btw i think it really is a good game, with hotkeys it worth 5 stars, without them, it's just a strong four.

Please remove the "try again" option if the main point of the game is to die, upgrade and repeat. Especially considering this just wiped the earned gold aswell. Some kind of progression through the game would be nice. New scenery and enemy variations (random waves) would really make this game alot better. Last but not least i feel that the prices and/or earned money is a bit off and takes too long to grind. 3/5 and i'm willing to come back to raise it

Micromanagement isn't my thing, but this really drew me in. I wanted to whup them so badly! And with a little shimmying around of troops, I did :) very satisfying. I think the game is great as is, tho future versions might be like Epic War in that it could be longer, and player could have a go with both sets of armies. That would be great, this totally works as a standalone, focus, beat within a few hours, it really ticks a lot of boxes, it's great!

Great game. And i had an really epic win,,... my last living unit was an underworld fighter, which killed the last 100 hp of the titan, after i activated the just completed ressurection skill in the last second, while my demon and my last ranged hero died in the lightning storm. More epicness is not possible.

I love this game. It benefits from a lot of micromanagement, which i could see some people not liking. I think the ranged weapons need to be buffed a little bit, but otherwise great game.

Yay restarted in the final battle because the crappy "Try Again" option won't even ask if you really want to do it -.- awesome
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
excellent game, but as others said, restarting from the beginning every time , when you know you will only ever get a little bit further each time, is soul destroying

There is a cheating method. when attacking enemy. just keep switching the 1st and 2nd front melee units to minimize damage done to you. and let the archers damage the enemy. despicable but effective method.

funny how the best units for fighting the titan are the quickly unlocked underworld fighters with the resurrection skill on.

So, the tactic is simple: keep one line of mellee, 3 lines of ranged. First, goblins die, then skeletons, and then the real fight begins. Use the demon's smash skill all the time. Werewolves against all except city guards and paladins (you need all 10 to be alive at the titan). Cursed knights at the rest. At wave 32, use apocalypse, put underworlds with their skill activated in front, and enjoy the show. At titan put demon in front, then werewolves with roar, and cursed knights behind them. That's how i won, but it's really difficult.

5 units vs 1 unit. In this game 4 units do nothing while 1 unit dies and gets replaced. RTS implied strategy eg. the other units have a tactical use?
